  • @123whitehall...hello mate just wondered about the air con relocation if u have 2 buttons on the switch do u use your original switch cover or is this also a separate part ( the thin strip were the instrument panel is),and do u know if 18 mm is for switch with individual buttons ..cheers .great vid

  • Great video, how much did you pay for the unit?

  • i wish would have showed how you moved the AC controls to the lower part

  • I really enjoyed your video, it is aways nerve wraking dismantling the plastic bits of cars as you never know how much force to use as there might be hidden screws.

Everything works fine but I would have liked a better user manual but we don,t speak Chinese and they don't speak english.

two things I would like to do is that I can do on my Navigon are to run a simulation and get a turn by turn list but I am still trying!

The total cost with a great deal going on transport cost was about £450.00

  • Great video man, cheers for taking the time

4)and is there a unit that plugs into the service connector under the steering wheel so that you can get error codes and engine data on the nav screen,or sent via blue tooth to a laptop ,ipad, iphone,?

5)or can the engine data be accessed by this unit through the cam bus connection?

  • Is this better than the original bmw one?

  • Is the unit compatible with the BMW voice command system?

  • what is the relocation part called

  • The vent is really NOT coming out in my car :(

  • Great video. I recently bought one of these units but haven't yet installed it. The main wiring cable that came with mine is about 5m or 6m long. I notice yours is much shorter. Will I be able to cram all of this cable into the available space? Why is my cable so long?

  • @Stivesstu

Assuming you have purchaced exactly the same unit?.... the longest wire I had with the package was the wire for the gps receiver which sits on top of the dashboard. If this is the wire you're talking about..... yes you do have enough room behind the headunit to lose the extra length.

  • Yes, it's the same. I bought mine direct from China. The cable is the main loom containing all the wires that connect to the unit to the car's electrics. It's wrapped in a black cloth. Looking at other people's pics on the internet I can see that this is usually about a foot long - which is all it needs to be. I could cut it shorter and rewire it but if there's space behind the dash then that's great. I had read that everything's a tight fit. Thanks

  • I found out that the cable they sent was a "fakra" cable for wiring up to the power and audio connections in the boot. I have a 2003 M3 so don't need this. I've read that they are exactly the same cable and I'm pretty sure it's too bulky to fit in the dash so I could cut it down to size and splice the wires together I guess.

  • Hey I am trying to install the same unit into my car 2001 bmw 330ci. I have the same exact wire as you. What is that wire hanging down to the left at 6:21? It seems to be my radio antenna but I don't have a connection for it. Any advice?

  • The wire hanging down on the left at 6:21 is the ipod lead that I ran in to the glovebox. My headunit came with an adapter lead for the radio antenna. There'e is a 3mm jack plug for the TV antenna (dvb-t).

  • @Rayrockny hey i am thinking about buy a unit for my 328ci do u have to buy a seprate sat nav unit to go in my boot

  • Hey thanks so much for this vid. I just purchased one of these for about $700 US and it arrived today, I look forward to installing it this weekend. I have two questions, I need to install my amp and sub woofers to this system, but where is the amp remote wire and the sub outputs? anybody know?

  • what unit is that? im in the U.S. i dont have an m3, i have a 02 325i. you have a link or anything sir? thats for the tutorial, looks simple enough...

  • The unit is made by a Chineese company called Haulingan. Model code is HL-8788.

They don't sell to the genral public, but if you search ebay you will find a US retailer.

This model will fit all E46 3 Series and is compatible with your steering wheel controls (if you have them). Good Luck with your search.
