Got the 5-string version that I wanted of this amazing bass. In metallic red, used and has the old Mighty Mite pickup. I think I have the old, old one because with mine you can adjust the eq while the slap switch is on or off. I plan to change the Mighty Mite out for a Bartolini sometime soon.
So far, the only problem I have with this bass is that it cannot take a .130 guage B string, but oh well.
Totally understand, player. I had am SR506 Ibanez for a few mouths. I now have the Curbow. And i spend most of my time. Playing a Traben 5ST and my 56 Fender basses. But i try to play a 6ST at least one time a week.
I really like the playability of the Curbow. The pick up is set so i only have to barely play it, if i hit it to hard it sounds muddy. Only bass set that way but i like it, even though i play more of a banging style. When the band gets going faster.
I Hope my wife thinks so!. But really to body is smaller than most basses.I have large hands, so the neck is no problem. But she is one heavy bass. The 3rd hour of playing was rough. Not sure, i think i will pull out a old Fender for half our sets. When we start playing out.
This was the one I wanted, but financial constraints made me choose the 5-string instead. The Cort Curbow is a very good value, it haves exotic looks and a sound to match. Mine has proven to be a workhorse!
Had $299.99 on her. I played this before threw a $hitty amp. When it was at a different pawnshop. I like this over the Ibanez SR506 i had before. I want a 6string to add to the mix. I am learning all my songs with the B sting over the higher notes. They took off 10% so i put her on layaway.
i luv these basses, but im not sure if there available in left handed. anyone know?

a lot of people say that little horn is annoying to play when sitting down...some even say it hurts.
what's your insight on this?

Total crap. The tone is in the head, then in the hands. And then comes amp, strings..and so on.

I'm convinced that strings are 40% of the bass sound : change the strings, you change the bass.

Is that bass tiny or are you particularly large, or is it the large neck making it look smaller by contrast?
