  • I find it rather sad that a lot of people equate martial arts with gymnastics or performances. These modern "Shaolin" schools should clearly differentiate that this is show. Holding a spear for example, on your throat doesn't demonstrate martial skill either, sorry.

  • I don't quite get what you are trying to say. Martial arts is a blanket term which could be described as disciplined training in pursuit of imporved reflexes and body conditioning. gymnastics can be a part of this.

  • There is also no doubt that is a show, a martial arts show. and what do you mean by '"Shaolin"'? there's no need for quotation marks (or speech marks) Shaolin Temple school UK is run by Sifu Shi Yanmin, an official delegate from the shaolin temple in henan.

Finally, Holding a spear on your throat does demonstrate martial skill, (body conditioning) Your final apology is however accepted, so long as you actually realise that you're wrong :)

  • this is gymnastics not martial arts I hope

  • Its martial arts. this paticular section has some movements that overlap with gymnastics.. I'd say there isn't much of a difference between the two. Gymnastics or Wushu are very much a part of shaolin kungfu.
