  • @luv2dance0422 When your doing a grande jeté, think about really pushing off the ground with your back foot, and also think about getting more hight as opposed to travel.. That should help you :)

  • hi guys im having difficulty getting my grand jetés and i really need some help! I can never seem to get to that moment when you look like your doing the splits in mid air my front leg is always on the ground by the time the second comes up please help!

    I yesterday managed to do a full grand jeté! My first! But only with my left leg front.. right will come. I feel so happy =)

    And the second time,, with their back leg bend (i forgot the name of the step) it looks.. weird haha.

  • @SteelioC Actually lots of studios require that cut or higher, to view the hips.

  • more i watch videos on youtube...watching classes of same year olds...i see how much my Country is behind with Ballet...im 14, boy...we have some kind of summer school...there is a guy from Italy teaching us...and we dont know 1/2 of things he tells us...and he says that same year olds are already doing it...he already learned me alot of things :D with him i finally do 3 pirouetts...and jeté entrelancé..and sad e basque...he is cool :D

  • I have shorter legs, and not as great a ballet body as them, but I got a high-leg-cut leotard. It totally helps! It makes you feel taller and leaner. buy one!

    i mean, in different schools, there are different names for the same move (:

  • Well for sure this is not a Pas De Chat.. It's a Grand Jeté en avant, , no matter how you look at it. if the front leg is thrown staight, or if at first it bends then straightens, it is called a Grand Jete Développé, but none the less a Grand Jete it remains. a Pas de chat, or a saut de chat, is a completly different jump.

  • UMMMMMMMM, obviously you either suck at french or ballet because chat means cat, so pa de chat means step of the cat. look it up

  • i'm sorry i just made a mistake. pas de chavel means step of the horse. calm down. anyway, pas de chat is still different.

    A lot of Chinese teachers count out loud for their pupils--I know mine did. :/

  • It's weird, my ballet teacher would reallyy shout if we "flicked" our grande jetes, we are always told to grand battement them. Maybe another funny little difference between the styles? (I do RAD by the way!).

  • when you do one using a bent leg, from devlope (i'm guessing that's what you meant by "flicked?) it's called a "grand pa des jatte" (really not sure how to spell it), and both are fine, only different

  • if you "flick"(develope) your grand jete you do an entirely different jump called a sotasha (i cant spell it). yea, grand jetes are supposed to be brushed

  • Spelled something similar to a saut de chat, anyways I am RAD, and we have learned it, what grade are you? You may be to young to have learned it yet. But yes, Grande Jetes are brushed, not developed. ^_^

  • It's a shame that the teacher doesn't allow them dancing without "counting" the dance..

    ballet is not only gymnastics, they should learn to dance the music too and develope as artists. THey are good enough and grown enough to follow the music by themselves...
