  • Looks like a Wolf Spider.

    AAAAAAW, she's SO cute! :)

Still, I prefer tarantulas, but Wolfies can get pretty large.

    Pink-toes and Sun-tigers are my favorites :).

  • @celticbattleaxe HA! I fear I don't share your enthusiasm!

  • @7Flowersdeath7 Aw, come on! They're cute! Just don't come between the parent/s and the spiderlings, and you should be fine :D

  • @7Flowersdeath7 I used to have 6 pink toed tarantulas, all of them girls. After them I kept a Zebra, which was kind of aggressive, but I also got a Sun Tiger and Mexican Redleg. Gosh they were cute :D.

Then my crazy mother decided to get an EMPEROR SCORPION, which scared the daylights outta me. She held the scorpion in her hand - freaked me out.

  • @7Flowersdeath7 I'm weird like that, though. I like spiders, especially tarantulas, but I have a fear of centipedes (the ones up here in the north) and large scorpions.

  • @celticbattleaxe Well, hey, someone's gotta love em, huh? ;) I'm not as afraid of them as I used to be, it's just all of those legs, I guess. I do find them fascinating though. I like mantises, though, so I'm not a total ninny when it comes to things that crawl! Ha!

  • @7Flowersdeath7 Yeah :). Mantises are cool, too :D. I always get them in my garden, and they keep the pest levels down, as do the spiders. One year, I got the luxury of seeing a Black and Yellow Argiope (female) in the garden. About tarantula sized, absolutely gorgeous, and her orb-web had to be at least 4 feet in diameter. She would take down wasps and occasionally bumble-bees with ease. Very cool to watch :). I still have photos of her.

  • @celticbattleaxe Wow! That sounds like something to see! I will say, I would quite enjoy watching that. It's really fascinating to see them in action.

  • @7Flowersdeath7 :) Indeed it is.

But that was about 6 or 7 years ago - and the spiders never came back. Still, it was SO worth it.

I always get at least 1 mantise in the garden, which keeps down the insect pests.

We would also get a SWARM of dragonflies (at least a few hundred) every August, and they'd eat all the other flying insects. But they too haven't come back in awhile.

  • dude, you can see its beady yellow eyes ewwwwwww

  • the wolf spider carries both her egg sack and her babies on her back the one in the video is carrying her babies, the babies are a much lighter color than the adult. some scorpions carry their babies as well.

  • those are eggs on a wolf spiders back

  • PT is right, looks like you have a wolf spider there. They are common in houses, carry their babies on their backs, and make great pets. They are typically burrowing spiders, have great eyesight and a highly developed sense of touch. Their bites are non-lethal but they will bit if provoked or pinched. They are nocturnal as well.

  • that thing get around
