  • @OffTheGrid1000 That's right, that's how damn stupid we are. Now Toronto garbage is landing in London, which is really great!

  • And this is the Nortel stock...LOL

  • So hold on... Where does all the normal garbage goes? Are you supposed to burry it in your garden or flush it down the toilet? That recycling scheme is over the top...

  • @mikemihh If their system is like my city's, then "wet" garbage (food leftovers, etc) is put into green bags and buried for decomposition. And then the "dry" garbage (cans, plastic bottles, etc) is put into blue bags and recycled.

  • its the dump your right

  • this is a bunch of fucken bull shit if they are so fucken good then why do they want to haul there garbage out of the city to my county, we told them no but the fuckers just wont back off

An other example that low taxes help the people.

    Thanks Rick

  • Love Rick Mercer he is the best. And Funny!

  • Rick looks HOT in that uniform. tharealsteven I like what you said about Bloatware . . .lol Edmonton I'm so proud of you, Calgary has a recycling program coming soon where every household in the city will contribute to recycle and it costs only $8 amonth.

  • tell me do you get a lot of snotty comments because you admit you are from calgary?

I do even though i lived in both edm and calgary

    cheers

  • why remove the label. it can stay on there

  • no it cant its paper u cant melt down paper with metal or plastic...

  • true. do they remove them because in my area you can leave the lables on

  • I love it, this is great.

  • hahahahahahahaah

  • I'd smash up a computer with vista any day lol

  • yes vista is horrible. I bought a new pc with vista and had it for 3 days and i then downgraded to XP Pro

  • I deleted about 1.67gb worth of bloatware off my new vista computer

  • Hey Rick, give me a shout out on the next episode.

  • I wonder how much revenue the recycling generates for the city? How much was saved by not using conventional land fills? If the money talks, could we make the message loud enough to convince other corporations and cities to invest in greener practices? How about a challenge to other cities match or beat Edmonton's success in waste management?

  • The problem is a bit bigger than that. For every bag of garbage we put out of our homes, industries are putting out 70. We need to stop buying like idiots and adopt a lifestyle of thrift. We need to start repairing and fixing things rather than running out to buy new shiny shiny gadgets everytime. Look up "the story of stuff" you'll know what i mean.

  • @cheegum In New Zealand, they incinerate their garbage and actually find alot of gold by doing that. People are so wasteful nowadays.

  • I buy everything used, fix and repair... also most of my family seems to be inclined in this respect... however manufacturers are *still* to blame when it comes to things like packaging... food items, for example? Your statement is only partially true because of this.

  • Check out this video about the story of stuff.

    watch?v=c5uJgG05xUY

  • "They don't make 'em like they used too."

    "They certainly don't."

  • Another reason why Edmonton is # 1.

  • If Rick wants to smash monitors to take out frustration on Vista, he should continue with all the crap software that he blamed on Vista for not working.

    Yes, that includes Dynamics.

  • I wonder how Edmonton compares to Toronto in waste turnaround. And if Edmonton is better, is Miller's waste strategy going to get us there? And if it isn't, what will? Does anyone know the answers to these questions?

  • I can't really say since I don't live in either of these cities, but it seems to me that edmonton has a very good waste management system, I doubt toronto can compare as a superior in this sector. For now Miller's Waste strategy looks like the best alternative to a better and more affordable (and environmentally friendly) waste removal system. Of course we can't just stop there-

  • Toronto has a huge population compared to Edmonton and would require a facility much larger than this one to sort all the garbages. I don't think anyone is going to be funding that and find a huge place to do this either.

  • Edmonton and Area has over 1 million people, while Toronto has 2.5 million.. No better time to start then now

  • toronto and area is 5.5 million
