I admire your patience to answer some of the negative comments here. I couldn't do it without my head exploding! We all should know the advantages and limits of training an Aiki system, many comments come always from people without proper knowledge, specially the historical context of some techniques. Harming people is easy, to gain enough control to demonstrate a technique without harming take years. Some people have the need to humiliate others instead of trying to better themselves. :)
Nigger music? Really? I need to address this ignorant comment? Ok well all I will say is that the last time I saw him on tv. Eminem was white and most music genres that are popular these days have their roots in black culture.
Second, this was just drills during a warm up and was not randori therefore the techniques were not flowing as they would in randori or free practice.
Lastly, absolute crap? We practice in Stirling in Scotland. come on down.
Not aiki? no flow? absolutely crap? First, I had just recently returned from time off due to a surgically repaired forearm, which turned out to ba a botched surgery and the same bone broke again not long after this video was shot. Hence the reason the techniques were limited to a few of the basics and there were no throws.
Krav Maga? Well we just think that it is a compliment to our practicality that what we have been doing in our style for centuries is now being used today in these "new" styles under a different, more marketable, name and still being effective in today's society.
I will say this though, the only other style that I have seen and limited experience training in that I find extremely effective is Systema. Take that as you will.
Also it is a good way of warming up your groin before the class begins. Remembering that this was myself and another student warming up at *am on a Saturday morning before the rest of the class arrived.
This too was because in old time Japan, before the intriduction of the western chair. Everyone sat on there knees in seiza at a later stage in japanese history and whether it be with family, during tea seremony or prayer.
Fighting on our knees? working on the knees or at a disadvantaged position is essential and traditional in any truly original Japanese martial art as the people of Japan were not permitted to sit higher than the emperor and therefore needed to feel at home defending themselves from kneeling or disadvantaged positions.
aikijutsu or not? We are the blue circle daito-ryu aikijujutsu club that runs in Stirling in Scotland under sensei Ally McLean 5th Dan. Anyone doubting this or anything else that comes from this group then feel free to come to our dojo and put us to the test. Every true martial art and martial artist is not affraid of proving the practicality of their teachings.
White Belts? Yes we were white belts and we still are white belts two years on as our ryu uses the original grading system without coloured belts as all original Japanese martial arts did before the use of coloured belts as grade identification as introduced by Kano and Judo.
Ok. I posted this video so long ago I completely forgot it was on youtube since I never sign in to my account. Since I have had a few email notices that there were some comments made on it and there seems to be some discussion on whether or not it is aikijutsu or not, I thought I'd say my piece, finally.
@aikijutsuryu I have seen the video reply you posted and I will be respectfull and keep my comments to myself. I don't want to get involved in any of the "my style is better than your style" or "my club is better than your club" arguments that have been a constant in martial arts since their creation and the spark that created MMA.
Why is there faggot music on this video?

@moorddoodkill I think Krav Maga is just what any discipline devolves into in a real, stressful situation.

Nice form for white belts, I'm assuming they are using the traditional grading system as these 2 are not as clumsy as most 'white belts'.
The reason for starting on the ground is, because it teaches you how to use your hips.
I remember I had bloody knees for about the first month of my training.
ViRoy101 3 years ago
I'm guessing they are beginners judging by the white belts. You probably start on the ground, but the same principals apply.
