  • Next time do one with just a backing track instead of the actual song. Based on this video I'll keep my iphone just as it is - a phone. It's not your playing or anything it's just that it sounds pretty flat. I wouldn't buy it.

  • what pedals did you use in this app? to get that satriani type sound? i just have the free app, gonna buy the full app soon.

  • if i dont have the iRig, the app doesnt works?? and if i get the iRig, how i plug into the amp?

  • cool ;-) Does your iphone play the track while using i rig?

  • You are good! Cheers.

  • @ X4hunterx4 mate you can record ur drums on the ipod4g,ipad2,iphone 3g-4s ....i did a video search Thejosef5...n il show u how by email.cheers

  • O and not just audio but video too

  • Can you record with your iPod 4g with out needing to use a computer? Thanks. I play the SD5k drums

  • it have an lag because when i put on PC have an 2 seconds lag

  • Now play flying in a blue dream.

  • Why do people keep trying to copy/imitate Satriani? It's just impossible...better to forge ahead with one's own music than look ridiculous trying to get close to a master. There are musicians who can do it...but, they are few and far between, and they usually move on and explore their own development making new contributiions.

  • @HugeGene This is quite possibly one of the most retarded music related responses I've ever read. I shouldn't even need to tell you why, you should be able to figure it out on your own it you think hard enough.

  • @Aaronmac404 Retarded?! Can't believe you even posted this..

  • @HugeGene My choice of words may not have been in good taste, but my point still stands.

  • @HugeGene I'm not sure what your "point" is, but if it's that you were just demoing the device and not attempting the Satriani as a guitar demo, then I was off base in my original comment. Peace..

  • @HugeGene

You really don't know why people try to imitate Satriani? Really, you don't? Well then I'll tell you, It's because he's a fucking fantastic guitar player, no, more than that. Satriani knows everything there is to know about playing guitar, he is a virtuoso, and people -like me and this fine man who posted this video of a very well done cover- want to be more like Satriani because he is simply the greatest there is, the best.

  • @lilkid476 Douchebag why don't you read my post you asshole. I know he is a master,.. And he's not the best, he's the best at what he does, which was why I wonder why people try to imitate him. Try reading the fucking post before you answer so inanely.

  • i just purchased the irig for my iphone, and every time i plug it in (im doing everything correctly) no sound comes from the headphones. i can hear all the demo's and stuff, but i cannot hear my own guitar.

can someone please help me with this, i was all excited on this thing and now im kinda bummed, spent like an hr and a half unpluging it and replugging it.

  • @ThePinkCamal You might try going to "settings" in the app and turning off "No Feedback." This is meant for headphones, but if you're plugging in speakers or a stereo, it can cause the guitar not to come through. Let me know if this works!!

  • @ThePinkCamal i too just recieved my irig.. and i have the same problem.. no guitar sound but can hear the metronome and demos.. waited 3 weeks for this to be delivered and now 2 weeks after delivery i still cant get it to work.. please somone reply with help??

  • @ThePinkCamal same to me :/ you have solved the problem??

  • nice cover man still though as cool as this app is i don't think it will be take place over my tube head it is still missing a little bit of the OOMPH still great playing

  • do you have to plug in your ear phones or does the sound come from the i pod / i phone

  • Go and get a fucking amp!

  • @Axis1991 I bet he has an amp but with a tone like that he doesnt need one!

  • Go buy a mono splitter, for guitar. The headphone jack on the iRig has the small female plug so the splitter will have a small male plug at one end and 2 large 1/4 inch male plugs at the other end. Make sure they are mono and doesn't have the mic ring on the males. Plug only one male into the input on the amp. Leave the other male plug hanging, don't use the loop input in the back of the amp and make sure you only use clean sound on your amp. If you turn on distortion on the amp with amplitude

  • yeah i just bought an irig too ,...i am new to this stuff..just wondering if i could let the sound come out from the my real amp instead of my ipod's headphone

  • Amazing song you have, could you give us the full preset u use (amp, reverb,....)?

  • i must say isnt very nice tone but lets face it, these stuffs are at its infant stage. I love my Jemini, with my evo pickups, but im looking forward to a better irig device in the future, soon. I believe thisnwill be the in-thing for all musicians in the future, less stomp pedals etc.

  • ah not sure about this, the sound isnt great, if you have a good amp then why get a worse sounding versioin which essentially is what this is. i was wondering though, if you purchase the app for this, do you need to buy all the other amp models or pedals seperately?

  • @JacobxMarley check out my video of me using ampkit playing the sam song, not as gud as this but nicer sound

  • So, the iRig thing, does it take the signal form the guitar, and the app itself modifies the input, then sends it to an amp?

I always though the sound just came out of the iPhone/iPod speaker...

  • i fuckin hate you mrdboatman

coz of this ace demo i went out and bought a iphone and irig...and now am a few hundred quid poorer...

    thanks xD sick video btw..

  • Cool sound. Where do you cop the mp3 and how does it integrate while playing ? All via I phone. Thc

  • always turn down the original guitar track when recording :)

  • Nice playing..liked it very much cheers

....plis check out my video of the same song using iphone4 ampkit.. Search Thejosef5

    Thank you all

  • Love It

  • Wow...it even comes with a bum note generator !!...I'm impressed !

  • @LeonardRockstein haha funny shit

  • Do they send you the irig cord or where do u get it

  • @CBNrocksful The irig interface costs about £23, most online music stores sell them, just google for it, I think you get a cut down version of the amplitube software with it, The full version is £11.99 on the app store, also amplitube fender has just been released to expand it

  • what efects did you use and the settings?

  • hi tech + soul! ;)

  • Fuck you pleaze tune your guitar ...

  • can you plug a wah in it??

  • @TheGhhgv app comes with a wah pedal and lots of other really useful pedals also

  • It's a knackered old 3G and the off button doesn't even work anymore. I tried turning it to aeroplane mode which didn't work. When I had it charging at the same time, the interference was unreal!! I think my iphone only does 1 app at a time so wouldn't know how to turn any other running app off if there was one. It's annoying 'cause the tones that are coming out of this thing are awesome!!

Thanks loads for your help btw.

  • @msh1601 To turn off apps on an ipod touch, press the home key twice and it will show which apps are running, then just press and hold an app till it wiggles and press the minus icon to shut it down, I assume it works the same for iphones

  • I got one for Christmas and there seems to be alot of noise!! Like popping and cave like reverb even with the rev turned off on the amp and the delay off. I've looked at setup, and the noise is being indicated from the output, not the input. Does anyone else have this problem?

  • @msh1601 Did you also purchase the 4-track recorder in the app? That has a master reverb you might have turned on. Also, the clicking and popping is probably CPU overages - you can switch to "low latency" mode in the setup window to reduce this, and try either closing other apps you have running or restarting your device. Unless you're on a very new device, this app does tend to use a lot of resources to get the best possible tone!!

  • @mrdboatman Hey there. How did you mix the sound from the iphone with the video? I'm a beginner at recording, so I don't know much about recording videos and putting hi-def sound into it..

  • @wajalama I connected the output of iRig to my computer and just used QuickTime to record a video with my built-in camera. This is an older video, the new version of AmpliTube would let you record yourself playing along with an .mp3 right in the app itself, which is much easier!

  • Comment removed

  • @mrdboatman When u said u connected the output of iRig to your computer, you mean from the headphone jack? I don't really understand how u connect ur iRig to your computer. The new version of AmpliTube allows you to record into the app instead of the computer? Then how do u add in the video then. Im really considering to buy this and trying to get as much info. Thanks!

  • @mrdboatman u can put backing tracks on it?

  • Awesome Video! Just bought one and love it; but still confused (Guys at Best buy didn't help much). With it, can I buy a splinter so I could connect my mic (1/4 in connector), AND guitar at the same time? Also How did you get such great quality transferred to youtube? I'm SUPER foreign to this stuff. I have a 3g iphone to play and the Ipod 4 touch to film, but do I connect great audio quality by another cable, or maybe if I use my camera do you have an extra cable, or just the Camera mic? Thanks

  • @abolocks Thanks!! For using a mic and guitar, I don't think that would work since iRig is mono - you would need a little mixer for the best sound quality. For the audio for the video, I just connected the output of iRig to my USB audio interface and recorded into QuickTime, took maybe 30 seconds to set up. If you were going to use a camera, just run out from iRig into the audio inputs on your camera, you should be fine!

  • @abolocks Thanks for getting back to me It helped me out ALOT!

  • What case is that?

  • song?

  • I love this video. I'm gonna get the irig myself. By the way what is the name of this song?

  • @Juderter always with me always with you :)

  • its excellent

  • it sounds like you see right through me

  • tone sounded pritty close mate

  • You can also plug a mic into the iRig. I personally like the harmonic dog ap for recording. You can pan the tracks.

  • Great job, I'm getting one of these soon. :)

  • Can you record yourself with the iRig? I want to get this for my boyfriend, but he was also looking at one that specifically lets you record.

  • @Wo0tWo0tPopRox Yes, you can totally record. The new version has a free one-track recorder or he can upgrade to a 4-track.

  • @mrdboatman Does that mean he can only record one song at a time?

  • @Wo0tWo0tPopRox Yes, one song at a time. But he can record as many songs as he wants.

  • how do you recorded??? which cable did you use?

  • does the sound come out of your amp, and what stores can u get it at?

  • Not bad. Pretty good tone. Nice playing. But next time please tune your guitar!

  • whats the name of this song?

  • @jrandy2009

always with me always with you

  • is this recorded thru this app? amazing and great play!

  • nice playing! :) amazing sound!

  • dang i've been meaning to find a way to get a good recording for my guitar and bass, but one of them devices in between your computer and guitar are like 300 dollars, so amplitube and an irig for 45 dollars seems like a good deal :D

  • If u think the irig is cool everyone should check the real Amplitube software it models some of the most expensive amps and effects perfectly plus it has a multitrack recorder so it saves a whole lotta money and cool setup man keep it up but what's the name of the song

  • damn...everything is becoming digital...no more expensive foot pedals and amps, etc... i cant tell the difference if it's an real amp or digital...it becoming cheaper and convenient...

what effect did you use to generate satriani sound in iRig???

very good guitar playing....keep it up man...

  • thats so cool

  • I feel so left behind... I can't believe that software can do that.

  • All that tone from the Phone!?!?!? WOW, Technology can be SO BADASS!!!

  • @NR2112 Thank you!!

  • Robot

  • really great guitar playin- the future looks bright :-)

  • did you connect the ipod into the guitar and into an amp?

  • What Cable Are You Using To Connect With Irig? Because My Irig Isnt Working And I Think It Might Be The Guitar Cable!

  • @Scotland2550 Just a regular guitar cable. If you are having problems with iRig, you can PM me and I'll have get you sorted out!

  • @mrdboatman My husband wants me to buy this for him... I just want to make sure that he has all the required components before he can use it. Does iRig comes with the software installed in the iPod Touch 3G? So you are also connected thru guitar cable and cable to your speakers I presumed and that's it? you're good to go?

  • @NC11408 All you need for the iRig is the connection to the guitar which I'm going to assume he already has and that should be it. He would also have to download the App on his phone/iPod.

  • @NC11408 You'll need to purchase the AmpliTube app from iTunes separate from the iRig. After that, all you need is a guitar cable and headphones or a cable to speakers!

  • @Scotland2550 i have also been having problems it will and wont work so frsutrating plus it wont accept my itune songs

  • @Scotland2550

I am having a similar issue as others are. I have the 1st ver and it worked well. I then upgraded to the latest and now, I can here the metronome, but the demos nor the sounds work. I barely used the iRig so it's not that. I use Monster for cables. This sucks!

  • @RoC1909 In the update, you need to arm a track on the recorder to get sound. It should arm by default, but if not this will fix it.

  • @mrdboatman Holy crap! You are the man! It works as it should now!! Thanks a bunch!

  • nice tone... Your playing is also not bad... :) Just a little more practice

  • nice tone... Your playing is also not bad... :)

  • Can pinch harmonics be achieved using iRig?

  • @lonelyfiddler Good pinch harmonics usually depend more on the pickups of your guitar (hotter output = better harmonics). But yes, with the right guitar and a high-gain model in AmpliTube, you can get very nice pinch harmonics!

  • hey that's joe satriani signature i got one to sounds perfect hmm tell me where can i buy this irig in the USA ???

  • @radwanfbi Yes, I borrowed the guitar from my landlord ;-) You can get iRig pretty much anywhere in the US! Just PM me your location and I can let you know a store with it in stock.

  • @mrdboatman cant u get it in the apple store or online

  • @sainteustatious Yes, it's available in all Apple stores and the Apple online store, too.

  • sounds some plastic

  • @Sockmetal I think so, it's only $40, or $60 with the deluxe app! But I do work for IK, so I might be biased. ;-)

  • whats ur settings man?

  • how is that tone coming from your phone?

  • @3acdc3mtlca Because the iphone is magical.

  • This this irig as well as you rock, I'm getting it right now, thanks for the vid :)))

  • @GothamKnight69 Thanks so much!!

  • can you use the irig with adapters instead of the irig connection?

  • @iwillnotdie217 It's tough. You need to change the output signal of your guitar into the type of signal the phone is expecting. Most off-the-shelf adaptors won't work, you kinda need a custom-designed piece like iRig.

  • i wonder if you can use it with your i touch???

  • @gasamoma yea you can

  • good but tapping is incorrect :)

  • woah!

  • Is there much latency? I imagine the iphone 4 would be a little quicker but seems reasonably responsive.

  • how do you hear the sound on the iphone ?

  • how do you hear the sound on the iPhone

  • Heyyyy Joeee... Where you going with that rig of yours?

  • Hello,

I got this also, but which preset do you use ?

  • @barsthebest Sorry man, custom preset! I think I dialed in the Metal amp with reverb, a digital delay pedal, and a noise filter. You can probably find a better description of Joe's setup online, then just dial in as close as you can with your ears!

  • Sorry my friend, but how much it costs only the adapter to attack my guitar to my iphone?

  • @TheAngelofdeath95

ive one for 40 dollars plus a free programming, or 20 more dollars for the upgraded program

  • wwwooowww nice playing !! ty

  • is it worth buying?

  • what Steve Vai song is it? Sounds really fun to play!

  • I mean Joe Satriani, lol. Mind was wandering x)

  • How does this do on the iPod touch with iOS4? I think I bots the most recent gen iPod touch I bought it a couple of months ago. Please let me know, I want to make sure this will be a wise investment

  • @SpineSauce I bought one , and my ipod is on ios 4 , you need amplitube installed on your ipod ,

  • @davidetsonskate SHWEET!!! better than a $200 fender amp that craps out

  • How much was this and where did you buy it ?

  • Great! Satriani is not my favourite artist, but your video is simply great! Congrats.

  • @Paul6550 Thanks so much!! Not my favorite either, but I (kinda) knew the song and had the guitar lying around, so I figured I would give it a shot.

  • hey man..nice device..can you tell me..if you notice big difference between regular amplitube running in your mac or pc and amplitube running in your iphone? how much battery consume this app.?

  • @George2ec It's not the same as AmpliTube 3, but that's to be expected since the iPhone has only about 1/3 the CPU. But a customer called me the other day and said when he A/B'd the iRig with his POD X3 he thought it sounded just as good! True story ;-)

  • can you rec

  • Your really good. Keep rokin and Thx 4 da vid I just got off iTunes from gettin ampitube. Now to get $39.99 for irig. Err that's $52 just for that. That's alot but worth it. Thx again

  • good job m8 :)

  • Bit of luck finding someone with a js100 testing irig :P I was wondering what it would sound like and found a vid with my guitar! Nice job too. :)

  • @benrochlin Lucky you!! I'm glad I could help. :-)

  • hey...how much did u buy the app and the cable?? this is cool...good job by the way..:)

  • @Jc80268 Thanks!! You can buy the cable for $39.99 from tons of dealers online, and the app is $19.99 in the iTunes store.

  • I need a job testing iphone apps!!!

  • Need some delay dude :D nice done :)

  • i thought you did a great job, and it sounds like you were plugged into an amp, i could hardly tell you were using an iphone

  • @scorchinbeats seeing as it doesnt even work on the iPhone 2G (claudiokun2007's comments)

I dont think it'll work on iPod 2G at all (probably not on 3G either)

  • Follows my suggestion: You are a pretty nice player with a JS guitar!

    1) You should not do both at the same time ( play the note by vibrating it )

You should to play the note , await a bit and then start do the vibrato (right finger) 2) Play your vibratos slower. put more emotion

    3) Play over backing track instead original tracks. ( google it )

    4) Improve the left right note 2:01 to 2:14 - it´s very easy the left hand notes.

  • is there a way to use AmpliTube without iRig?

  • @kunjaan I never said I was a great player! ;-) Just wanted to give people a chance to hear what it's like playing along with .mp3s with AmpliTube for the iPhone.

  • @kunjaan thats why this is titled "Me Playing Joe Satriani with iRig on my iPhone", Not "I AM A FUCKING PRO AT GUITAR!". its clear that this is for demostrating a Ipod app and not how to play a song. and get over yourself. he did great.

  • nice demo champ.... great playing... thanks man..

  • do you know if it`ll work on an ipod touch 2g

  • @ScorchinBeats Yes, it will. The iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 2G are actually not the same, the iPOD 2G has enough processor power for this to run just fine.

  • Do one with surfing with the alien??

  • @minglemonkey YEAH WHAT THIS GUY SAYS maybe test out the Wah?

  • @vi70h @minglemonkey OK OK you win! I'll start working on it now, will post a video as soon as I can.

  • @mrdboatman :D

  • @Stefandurr @drfeelgoodlanzarote Guys, please tone it down. This is about iRig, not Microsoft vs. Apple.

  • The pricing on this thing is rediculous, why $40? You allready have to pay $20 for the full app even though this thing isnt even on the market yet. For $60 you might as well just save up $40 more and buy a Peavey Vypyr that will do all of this as well as give you something that wont dissapear when you iphone breaks, falls in water, or gets stolen.

  • @DarkdeviI725 I think $40 is pretty reasonable! That's what you would pay for a decent guitar cable, right? And iRig will work with more than just the AmpliTube app - there are a lot of apps you can now access with your guitar, like 4-track recorders, tuners, etc. I think you'll see a LOT of new apps now that iRig is coming!

  • I don't have an Iphone but I'm really interested in getting one after seeing this haha.

  • @marksoutermusic Thanks!! Can I send that comment to Apple? ;-)

  • @mrdboatman Sure man, just pay me 1,000,000 dollars and we have a deal. Just kidding, yeah do what you want with it. :)

  • AHH this is so awesome ;D I've ordered my iRig and it's coming on the 6th of July!! CAN'T WAIT :D

Just one question mrdboatman, how are you recording the sound? it sounds SO clean! What software are you using/what cables?? :) thanks

    Harry

  • @tbhidkanymore Nice!!! For recording, I just used a 1/8" stereo adapter with 2 mono 1/4" outputs
