  • chapel > the new bane

  • what is this episode called????????????

  • The best part of this episode was the little bit with Bane, extremely powerful moment.

  • wtf?! batman just killed 2 guys

  • An interesting episode, a drug episode without getting preachy regarding it, instead focusing on it's direct consequences.

  • 0:29 Did you hear that snapping sound? Ouch.

  • imagine bruce wayne batman with his peak human strength and fighting skill in that suit that amplifies strength 10 X.

bruce wayne would drop that guy in one punch.

  • This was no kids show.

  • Man the nicotine patches have really changed over the years.

  • I remember this episode! I was freaked out because of his veins popping out and the sound they made, but at the same time it was so incredibly cool!

  • Consider that Terry, in the suit, has 10x the strength of a man. You're telling me that fast-acting steroids, that somehow increase muscle mass out of nowhere without eating protein, are going to be a match for that suit...?

The creators really don't think this through, do they?

  • @AidanMclaren Rule of cool takes precedence over real life here, me thinks.

  • @Azmodeus87

Even by DC logic, it's ridiculous as I just pointed out.

  • @AidanMclaren Didn´t say it wasn´t. It makes about as much sense as wiley Coyote being tough enough to survive all his deathtraps while looking like he´s onb the verge of starving to death. I´m just saying the crew probably didn´t care about the nature of fast-acting steroids and RL physics when they made this scene.

  • 0:25 Did he......just killed them?

  • @kusuguruketsu777 He killed himself. Overdose! He made a choose of being an idiot. So it goes with the senseless one :D

  • @Ninearm

Not him, the two henchman who he dropped two giant steel cylinders on O_O

  • @kusuguruketsu777 actually i think those are coils of sheet metal :P

  • @pacheco28

I didn't know the real name okay D:

  • @kusuguruketsu777 ahhh them.... They'll live... Thats only a fleshwound :)

  • See? Heath Ledger wasn't the first batman villian to OD

  • Okay, who else wants to get their hands on those venom patches? just for that extra boost of strength? I know I do! just gotta time it so it's not long term damage, so once in a great while.

  • Kinda looks like Spiderman trained Terry.

  • At 1:26 it sounds like Chapel squeaked lol

  • At least it wasn't titan.

  • Terry is face-ing almost everything Bruce had to.

  • Current Nicotine patches: I feel ready to start a non smoking life.

Future Nicotine patches: FFFFFFFFFFFFFUCK SMOKING!!! (ROID RAGE)

  • Is it me or did batman just batarang those three cylinders and crush those 2 guys?

  • @blackspidey14 I was thinking the same thing. He just up and murdered those two guys.

  • Didn't the new Batsuit make the user 10 times stronger?

Why the fuck dosen't Terry just brake his neck when he hits him lol....

  • @BladeStrikes He's not as buff or as trained as Bruce was yet.

  • Did Chapel die?

  • hey these slappers have the same effect thinking of politics does to me.

  • This batman kills?

  • @mejwyn But at the end of the video he says the venom got him. It was a dangerous drug after all.

  • @Manicz I meant the two bodyguards he utterly destroyed

  • @mejwyn loliduno who cares about bodybuards?

  • @Manicz this guy who question this teenage bats morale.

  • @mejwyn Oh well. I guess this is 'beyond' batman.

  • Those are some really strong nicotine patches.

  • Terry really is going through everything Bruce had to back than.

  • This the same guy who killed spawn?

  • "I'LL KILL YOU!!!"

Huh, don't hear that very much in cartoons anymore...

  • @shazbot16 Thanks to the FCC And Dept of Education

  • Venom was nerfed to hell in this form. all those patches (lol what next, gum?) and no unreasonably bulging veins about to rupture. DISAPPOINT.

  • holy fuck, thought he was going to explode from all that venom. :O

  • 2:24 - 2:36 drugs????

  • Chapel is the new Bane!

  • @qwuezalothus

    And a jerk.

  • The best thing about Batman Beyond is how they managed to make very interesting new villains, but also incorporate many of the older ones either directly or their key traits in a believeable manner within the context of a future Gotham.

  • This was soooo fuckin Metal!!!

  • "It was the venom. It had nothing to do with me blowing him up... Promise."

  • today moral nicotine patch will not help you beat batman no matter how many you use

  • Terry really has to go throw every kind of enemy Bruce has.

  • ....Does anyone else notice that everyone in Terries rouges galllery is dead?

    Inque=Dissolved

    Blight=Went Nuclear and self destructed

Terrific Trio=I don't even want to talk about it

    Chapel=OD'd on Slappers

    Shriek=Crushed by tower.

    ...

Well not everyone, but Bruce never killed half his rouges gallery.

  • @codafett Maybe I haven't seen the episode, but I think that Inque lived through dissolving, and her shadow is last seen in the ending clip of the episode, and Shriek also lived, but again, I'm not sure.

  • @codafett

Blight's body was never found and the creators said they were gonna bring him back. Inque and Shriek were both present in the JLU episode Epilogue which showed an older Terry McGuiness. Chapel and Terrific Trio no one cared about.

  • Comment removed

  • @codafett Shriek actually did survive and appeared in a third episode.

  • So.... if those "slappers" are basically steroids, Chapel must have had some tiny balls at that point. No wonder he gets so angry..

  • My favorite episode. "Now your cashin in by selling poison to kids"

    -"That's right"

  • I know this is a kid's show, but I have to wonder why the basics of fighting a larger person are never featured in one of these small versus large fights. Steroids won't keep his eyes, kneecaps, or groin safe from injury, even if his pain receptors are blocked by the venom, a solid eye gouge would impair his vision, and a broken knee would slow him down quite a bit.

Also, this may be Terry's lack of training, but why would you attack the center mass of someone THAT huge?

  • @WarriorBoy Have you ever see anybody from Batman family attack somebody in those areas? They're there to stop them and lock them up not incapacitate them, though sometimes it happens involuntarily. I recall a scene in Under the Red Hood where Jason Todd did Cripple a gang member, and go chewed out by Bruce for it. Justice is Blind but you don't have to Blind people to get Justice.

  • @glenngunnerzero: In the Arkham games, Batman does numerous moves that cripple his opponents, and Batman Year One and also Dark Knight Returns, Batman breaks bones; just because he doesn't kill doesn't mean he goes easy on these guys in any way. And you can attack the eyes without blinding someone permanently, it would be the go-to thing to do in a situation like this one.

I don't expect the artists or guys who lay out the action to be experts, but its something I noticed.

  • 0:29 - Terry, I think those guys might actually be dead.

  • This guy is a bastard

  • did he just a grapnel? i thought he had jet boots

  • 0:26 batman doesn't kill, workplace accidents do.

  • When the series first started I remember thinking it would be cool if they did a future version of Bane, but this episode ultimately left me disappointed.

  • This Batman is way more athletic but relies too much on his gadgets. He lacks brawn. Gets beat up a lot.

  • these drugs makes Captain America's super soldier formula pointless. these are portable too, applied only when needed.

  • I want what he has but still have great agilty

  • lol imagin slapin the white thing on ur dick XD

  • mY GOD IS THIS GOOD VOICE ACTING

  • Slappers. Better than Viagra.

  • Kids, don't do drugs.

Or else Batman will show up and beat the shit out of you.

  • @Apollomasque

Even if he doesn't, you will suffer a Fate Worse than Death anyway. Just ask Bane himself.

  • @Apollomasque Best. Anti-drug message. Ever.

  • @comicshaun07

He'll do it! I've seen him! That guy doesn't care, he'll just mess you up!

  • Terry could have saved himself a 3 minute fight if he had just knocked the patches out of the guy's hand with a batarang when the dealer held it up to show.

  • A grown up man and still believes in drugs.

  • @qwuezalothus Most drug dealers ARE grown up men.

  • at 0:28 WTF ?! BATMAN DOESN'T KILL !!

  • at 0:25 he killed those guys

  • @videowatch84 Not really a surprise. Terry plays a little loose with "the rule" he doesn't actively seek to kill people, but he will if he has too.

  • He just dropped those rolls onto the scientists yes? Unless they were Styrofoam or something like that it would have killed them. and wasnt an overdose how batman beat Bane? No points for originality.

  • @Blasted2Oblivion Well, it's basically the Beyond version of Bane, so I wouldnt really say that.

Also, Bane was defeated NUMEROUS ways. usually involving pulling the tube out, or electrocuting him through the formula.

And here he wasnt defeated with venom. Venom only made him worse and stronger. He was defeated when he punched something that blew up in his face and just fucked him over in addition to the venom overdose

  • @FlameG102 I suppose you are right with the parts about Bane. Still though, the rolls would have likely killed those scientists unless they were dosed with the stuff as well(I cant see the entire episode so as far as I know they could have been).

  • @Blasted2Oblivion never said otherwise about them. In fact, they probably did die. or were at least seriously injured.

Terry has killed rouges before. he killed Mr. Fixx, let Big Time die, Cuvier,

  • @FlameG102 Didnt know that. I will have to look into those particular villains. I only saw like 3/5 of the episodes.

  • Man...patches for steroids...they do the same for weed?

  • 3:41 Terry's suit augments his natural strength by 10x and that drugged up thug still took his punches like they were nothing....

  • it was banes venom after all, but rmember Batmen ( refering to bruce and terry)are master stradegist)

  • idiot, Yeah you get near retarded levels of strength but sacrifice your sanity in exchange.

Wish Bane was more coherent. or delirious" BAtman! Didn't I break your back?" or kill you? I can't remember which?"

  • This might have been a better episode if it hadn't been written like A Very Special Mandatory Drug Episode from the 1980's

  • @Xerock what do you mean? The whole episode was about the investigation of Slappers and who manufactured them, lol not like they had a subliminal message about not doing drugs.

I recall Static Shock having one episode though that was against guns or bullying, something like that.

  • @Xerock it was no where near as preachy as some of those *cough* captain planet*cough* cartoons.

  • @hdofu A baseball stadium filled with reverends isn't as preachy as Captain Planet.

  • @Xerock

not really, Venom is a type of steroids that is the fuel of Bane's abilities, of course everyone wanted the stuff, it would make fighting crime a damned nightmare.

  • @ShadowWolfRising

I meant how Terry's mom found the slappers and immediately accused Terry of using drugs. They did that in the Brady Bunch. That's how old and cliche that subplot is.

Manufacturing the drugs for urban use was not a bad plot. Back int he 90's, Marvel comics did something similar with Captain America's old Super Soldier serum for their 2099 line.

  • when chapeleeadmdtteled to his crime I was like "wow he is blunt."

  • Jesus! That used to make my skin crawl as a kid when I saw Chapel fell into those bed of slappers and got all juiced up!! o_e

  • glad the batsuit doesnt make terry super strong cuz then he would just be ironman .

  • did terry just sqach those guys!!!

  • They need to make another Batman Beyond series, or make a live action film.

  • Terry should be glad this is Venom and not Titan.

  • ROID RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE, NO SERIOUSLY, SCHOOLS NEED TO USE THIS EPISODE AS A DRUG PSA ADVERT!!! XD

  • 0:27 wow ! Terry Mcginnis killed 2 guys like nothing !

  • @Ryan3d Cant believe I just noticed that. That's even darker than what Bruce has done before.

  • Anabolic steroids, technically known as anabolic-androgen steroids (AAS) or colloquially simply as "steroids" or "'roids", are drugs that mimic the effects of testosterone and dihydrotestosterone in the body. They increase protein synthesis within cells, which results in the buildup of cellular tissue (anabolism), especially in muscles.

  • Anabolic steroids also have androgenic and virilizing properties, including the development and maintenance of masculine characteristics such as the growth of the vocal cords, testicles, and body hair (secondary sexual characteristics). The word anabolic comes from the Greek ἀναβολή anabole, "that which is thrown up, mound", and the word androgenic from the Greek ἀνδρός andros, "of a man" + -γενής -genes, "born".

  • Anabolic steroids were first isolated, identified, and synthesized in the 1930s, and are now used therapeutically in medicine to stimulate bone growth and appetite, induce male puberty, and treat chronic wasting conditions, such as cancer and AIDS.

  • The American College of Sports Medicine acknowledges that AAS, in the presence of adequate diet, can contribute to increases in body weight, often as lean mass increases, and that the gains in muscular strength achieved through high-intensity exercise and proper diet can be additionally increased by the use of AAS in some individuals.

  • Health risks can be produced by long-term use or excessive doses of anabolic steroids. These effects include harmful changes in cholesterol levels (increased low-density lipoprotein and decreased high-density lipoprotein), acne, high blood pressure, liver damage (mainly with oral steroids), and dangerous changes in the structure of the left ventricle of the heart. Conditions pertaining to hormonal imbalances such as gynecomastia and testicular atrophy may also be caused by anabolic steroids.

  • Ergogenic uses for anabolic steroids in sports, racing, and bodybuilding are controversial because of their adverse effects and the potential to gain an advantage conventionally considered "cheating." Their use is referred to as doping and banned by all major sporting bodies.

  • For many years, AAS have been by far the most detected doping substances in IOC-accredited laboratories. In countries where AAS are controlled substances, there is often a black market in which smuggled, clandestinely manufactured, or even counterfeit drugs are sold to users.

  • What. a. moron. Got what he deserved in my opinion.

  • Chapel shoulda been the future version of Bane.

  • .. Love how every single male in Batman Beyond, Batman TAS and Batman TNAS has a bodybuilder like physique.. Even the Joker has pecs..

  • I like how Terry just kills the guards.

  • "Scott Steiner mode: engage!"

  • How come his legs don't get bigger?

  • and thats why we dont do drugs kids

  • BATMAN uses CLOSE COMBAT!

    Its not very effective.....

  • Oh and apart from those guys getting crushed - that headbutt around 1:31 is EPIC :D That's pretty much what made some of the DVDs in the UK a 12 rather than PG :D

  • I love how brutal this whole scene is! Man, I miss my childhood and watching awesome animated series like this from the 90s-early 2000s. Haha I remember Chapel scared me a tiny bit - and I actually thought he was gonna 'kill' Batman when he screamed 'I'LL KILL YOU!' Batman TAS was awesome (the best in fact), followed closely by this. This is much better than the revamp episodes that came before it - but even then, the revamp series was also classic. :)

  • @GrandJediMaster7860 Thats one of the reasons I love this series (as well as Batman TAS); they got away with a lot of things that I'd think would get censored these days, i.e the 2 guys getting crushed in this scene, the "Earth Mover" episode or that mutated...thing at the end of "Splicers".

  • 0:27 Did Terry just fucking kill them? You could hear a crunch and everything.

  • OK, Chapel follows the 'Too Dumb to live' trope. Since he saw what Venom eventually did to Bane, don't you thing he should know not to take Venom himself?

Not to mention, it's kinda bad Chapel has no real back-story, explaining his motivations and so on.

  • @Wykletypl I think he took the venom patches as a last resort coz Terry found out his operation. He probably thought "I'll just use this once to kill Batman."

  • This is one of my all time favorite fights from BB series cause it really reminded me of a classic batman vs Bane fight . Te fact that terry used both his might and wits to battle chapel like Bruce did to bane gave me such a nostalgic feeling thanks for the upload bro, much love as a Batman fan >;) (no homo lol)

  • @LeonScott1990 Especially one that can get results in a few seconds...

  • Batman Beyond was so brilliant. I loved this as a kid, I was a pansy back then, but I watched this show RELGIOUSLY regardless of my fear. It was so dark for me, and watching it again, it's decently still grim and vicious. Love it. Chapel slapped himself silly in the end, lol, that poetic justice was haunting throughout the whole series. Shame that they never make kid shows as dark or meaningful anymore. :(

  • i think we all can learn a lesson about nicotine fits from this video.

  • Oh god the nostalgia, it's everywhere.

  • I used to think that "Venom" was actually poison when I was younger, especially due to the dialogue. I always wondered why it never killed anyone. xD

  • Batman beyond vs francis from left 4 dead.

I never thought that could be possible.

  • @poux12 "I hate Batman. And Robin, and Batgirl, and Gotham..."

  • @TheLobsterWrestler well you sir are an asshole JUST SAYING

  • @poux12 nah. Francis hates venom.......just like everything else in existence :P

  • @darkeradicator1990 more like his caretaker, I don't remember them actually saying how close they were but Bane had to have a lot of trust in him to give him the Venom formula for production.

  • if chapel fight's wid hulk.... :O

  • chapel kinda reminds me of bane

  • @naijaboygangsta He was his assistant. He even mentions that early in the video.

  • luv the description

  • you want me slapy i am right here lol.

  • Daaaamn, nicotine patch is a hell of a drug :D

  • LOOOOL. He should put on some more slappers.... 2:56 He should have yelled..... I WILL BREAK YOU BATMAN !!!

  • BANEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • I still can't believe that's Larry Drake as Chapel...It almost doesn't sound like him...

  • Jeez Did he kill those guys?!?!?

  • Not that I have anything against the other Batman, but this one is kind of better he's funny.

  • It blows my mind that Will Friedle does Terry's voice. I always picture him voicing some crazy hilarious nerd :D It's so weird to hear him be this calm lol

  • @lyricalheartstrings Yeah he really did a good job with the voice of Batman/Terry. He has been doing alot of VAs for more mature characters though, I think Ron Stoppable from Kim Possible was the only quirky character he did.

  • @Kojiben Now he is Lion-O in The Thundercats too

  • @lyricalheartstrings HE'S ON Thundercats now on CN

  • @lyricalheartstrings Not to mention that he was Gearhead on the Batman

  • @lyricalheartstrings How bout Neil Patrick Harris as Nightwing in Under the Red Hood.

  • 0:27 yo man he totally iced those dudes!

  • I don't get it. He's going up at 3:02, why is he still on the ground at 3:04?

  • @dessan18 oh snap, damn how the hell did you notice that? lol I watched this clip plenty of times and never noticed it. Nice find

  • @Kojiben It does look a bit weird, and confusing, but I think he just dropped down very quickly. Very cool anyway! I forgot how good this show was. Thanks for sharing!

  • @Kojiben At about 3:03-3:04 it looks like he's dropping back down though, but's just for like a split second.

  • @dessan18 maybe he landed in a different spot

  • @packaderm135 then they would've included that. This is a classic case of animation studios making the scenes in a not chronological order so it's easy to screw up in the editing.

  • @dessan18 He actually landed on the ground really fast. If you pause the video at the right moment you can see that his foot is in the air just before it touches the ground.

  • @dessan18 He jumped back to the ground. Very fast, it's hard to see.

  • @dessan18 I think after he flew up he landed on the other side of him. Yeah though it does look weird.

  • @dessan18 if ya look closely, you can see him land

  • @dessan18 it's called he landed

  • @stomyn no, I think it's called the animation studio didn't do it sequentially and thus they accidentally made it very jumpy in the end, by using footage from an animation they did before doing the sequence leading up to the escape. The fact that everything before is shown at "normal" speed reinforces this
