People, if you change it to windows xp (service pack2) and It says that you have to do D2vidtst or something like that, then just do the same thing what he did in the end of the video. Just type -window. Hopefully you understand what I mean, if not, ask me for better explanation :)
EVERYONE I HAVE A MUCH BETTER FIX TO THISPROBLEM!! Watch my video it will help you out a lot more than this, ive watched this guys vid and most of the stuff he tells you to do is unessasary shit! go to my channel and find diablo 2 color fix!
Ok, so I did all that D2 Shortcut, Properties ,etc etc. It does the same thing as before : The Program Compatibility Assistant opens and says I have to check for solutions online then I check for solutions I gotta contact blizz (cba.), SO I run the program and guess what, black screen with a white line on the top left corner of the screen =.=... Wth am I supposed to do?xD
Gyuz u wanna play Diablo 2 in fullscreen mode? Try bringing up a task manager window and go in to processes tab. There just kill explorer.exe. Then go start new appliacation diablo 2.exe from where u installed it. U don't have to type -window in target. Just make sure u have right compatible mode (winXP or less). Works fine for me. Enjoy!:)
@melmel1990 i did like this i press diablo 2 shorcut than press right click press troubleshoot than did that xp service pack 2 than start the game and evrey thing was k :D but i had a problem i cant start the game antil i did this :D
All I did was run the video test (D2VidTst.exe) and set the video mode to Direct3d instead of DirectDraw. I didn't have to change anything else and it works every time on Win7 64bit.
@chopinater Yeah sorry; it is Disable Desktop Composition. I'm Not sure if the those steps are necessary, that is just what I did, but i know for sure it doesn't work unless you Run the video test.
@TheSebas71 if ur getting an error like that, you might want to try reinstalling the game, thats n ot a graphics problem.I also havea better fix then thisvideo, so you sould check out my video as it may help you out
Just sayin, people who don't understand why there are compatibility issues this is why. The games were created to work with the operating system that was in use at the time. Its not that there is any problem with windows 7.
@XJproto Hi! i installed the game today and i have this error : " Diablo II - Unhandled Exception: Access Violation {c000005} " Any fix? P.S. Win 7 32 bit
I un-installed and re-installed the game, and installed the patch manually by downloading it from a mirror site, rather than loading the game up and making the game download and install it itself. People were having issues with Diablo II's auto patching
Blizzard's battle.net support page for Diablo II has the links to download their patches manually, I'll PM you the links to that
Also make sure you video drivers and Direct X are up to date
issue it probably will help by killing Explorer process in Task Manager and then run the game. You do that like that: run diablo 2 -> hit CRTL + TAB key -> in windows hit CTRL + ALT + DELETE -> run Task Manager -> select Processes -> Select Explorer.exe -> hit End Task -> hit CTRL + TAB to select Diablo 2 and play. After exiting the game run Explorer.exe file in Task manager so you get all Icons backon the desktop. This works guaranteed. How can people play games in windowed mode etc. Rather not
No Windowed mode and I don't know what this guy on the video is doing. I have standard laptop with no extra graphic card and it runs OK. You can also probably aply NoCD patches on the internet even if they are not meant for Patch v1.13c. Probably NoCD Patch v1.09 works just fine if replaced by patched EXE file v1.13c. Backup EXE file first before overwiting. I am pretty sure that this method works on 90% of PC's if not all. And some kids make things like shown in the video. If you have color...
Diablo 2 works fine on Windows 7 64bit and I suppose 32bit the same. I installed it from image discs. I chose full installation 1,5GB. I had problems with installation with Power ISO, therefore I installed it rather with MagicISO ( no problems with it whatsoever ). After installation find the latest Patch v 1.13c on official Blizzard site for Windows systems and install it. After that mount or insert PLAY disc into DVD ROM and run Diablo 2 shortcut on your desktop. It runs in full screen mode...
This is how I fixed my Diablo II LoD 1.13c in Windows 7:
Extreme lag in-game:
1.For both Game.exe & Diablo II.exe:
Right click -> Properties -> Compatibility
Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
Disable desktop composition
2.Run D2VidTst.exe and choose DirectDraw 2D
Bugged colours:
When you start Diablo II, alt-tab out of it and run Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) find in the Processes tab explorer.exe -> End Process. File-New Task-explorer.exe to start it again
yeah the second one is good thanks alot man i really needed my fix that first thing didnt do anything for me got it in a window now it works perfectly thanks again

This Is such a simple fix you will slap yourself
Left click Diablo 2 shortcut> Properties> compatibility; then put on windows Xp (service pack 2), check Disable video composition APPLY
Then (this is the important part) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Go to Start>All programs>Diablo2>Video Test
after you run the video test it will work
copied from melmel1990 just in case this might get lost....
