Forget the advice in the video, if you want to be a halfway respectable lawyer, dont continuously lie like your established counterparts are trained to do, and campaign for courtroom reform instead, starting with the costumes judges wear and ending with the process of investigation itself.
Let's stop beating around the bush. The ultimate goal of every JD graduate is to pass their states bar exam. Point being, the best "tip and or "strategy" for people planning on going to law school is to take and ace ALL of your English writing courses. If you didn't ace them in high school ace them in community college because law school and passing the bar is all about how well you respond to hypothetical essay questions. You read a story and write the laws/defenses that apply to all parties.
@deadrock05 take your hateful and derogatory language back to Belgium. Even Cornell is better than the best law school in your entire continent. You pathetic little angry boy
Lots of really good advice because although it is common sense, it's like yourself giving you advice and hopefully pre-empting that looking back in hindsight and having regrets.
Yeah here is some good advice. Don't Go!!!! I'm not saying never go, but certainly wait to see if the economy is going to get better. If you decide to go now, make sure you have a job you know will be waiting for you when you graduate. Otherwise, you have a sad road ahead of you.
my advice for studying law. dont go to lectures, they dont magically make the work load disappear, they get in the way of study and the lecturer wont be so keen to answer everyones questions.
study the exam papers from day one and perpare questions throughout the semester. at the end of the day its what you know in the exams that counts and not about lecture attendance. never cram law because its not possible to memorise hundreds of cases a day before the exam.
We can never find justice at the hands of corrupt judges. The fight to end this title wave of corruption in our country must start with the corrupt judges. Show your support now or wait untill your fate is at the hands of corrupt judges. bring these judges to justice,
@scir91 So is by your rationale the field of medicine a joke because a majority of doctors work 70 or more hours a week at some point in their career? Every doctor has to go through internship as well which takes even more time.
@superdog797 actually, YES. a broken marriage and lack of free time during the prime of your life (20s and 30s) aren't things to rejoice. by the time you are 40, you are bald fat old and can't give birth. and then you can look forward to praying for insurance companies to actually pay you for your services provided to clients. think i am joking? go do your research. only specialists make actual money but remember - you ultimately give up your entire youth for money.
@scir91 I guess everyone's goal should just be to make themselves as happy as possible all the time, rather than work hard for something that not many people can do, even though it may have excellent ramifications for a great number of people.
@superdog797 i just think ppl fool themselves by living in a dreamland and forgetting the major sacrifices/risks of living such an extreme life where your world revolves around work/career. i knew this resident doctor who at age 26 woke up one day at home covered in blood and collapsed. his dad came to the room and saw him lying there dead. i don't remember the exact cause of death but 26 years of hard work down the drain. total waste. i am thankful that millennials DEMAND a life/work balance
@scir91 I don't see what that anecdote has to do with being a doctor or in any taxing career. Are you trying to say that he worked himself to death?
Seems to me that you have a personal prejudice backed up with no real substantive evidence to support the broad claim. You insult lawyers and doctors as fools for choosing to work hard because of a few personal biases you have developed from isolated incidents and disregard the countless amazing and satisfying personal lives the majority have had.
@benjibandido Whine, whine. You sound like a beta-student who just cant handle the fact though everybody says technical studies are needed, he still ends up earning less then an average law alumnus.
@Gardash111 what are you talking about you simpleton, i graduated with a upper second class honours. I was merely recalling my memories of law school.
I came from an impoverished childhood, and it was amusing to see the egotistical upper classes, acting like they were solicitors before they had graduated.
There was no harm in my comment, and it was not offensive, it was a mere observation. However you seem to have a problem, so maybe you should sit back in your pram and stop whining....lol
@benjibandido Ah yes, the good old "look at what I have achieved in my life!"-argument. Would have been effective, if it wasn't for the fact that it's used by everyone on youtube.
Nevertheless, I find your argumentation interesting, having had an impoverished childhood myself. Namely, since when is it a precedent to be rich to be a pompous and egotistical law student? Raised in a poor/lower-middle class family myself, I do regard myself as a pompous and egotistical law student.
@Gardash111 An old chestnut of youtube it may be, but its also a fact.
If your comment was a mere observation, then why react to my comment so as to incite an offensive reaction.
If you regard yourself as a pompous and egotistical law student, that is your prerogative. I however have an air of dignity and feel secure enough in my knowledge, to refrain from acting as such. The fact that you typed "Whine, Whine" was intend in my opinion to be provocative and sounded as such.
@benjibandido If it wasn't clear to you - I'll repeat it:I merely reacted to your observation with an observation of my own. You may very well find that provocative, but I do not see why that would be relevant. Nor is the fact that I found your comment provocative too relevant.
But enough about form, I still did not recieve a reaction on the precedent in which you assume tha tyou have to be rich to be a pompous and egotistical law student.
@Gardash111 There was no 'response' given to your statement of a precedent being set, namely: The upper-classes are egotistical and pompous. Mainly because i didn't state that there was such a precedent. My observation was that it was amusing to see the upper-classes acting egotistical and pompous. If i were to assert a precedent of this matter, i would state: "It is an common axiom that all students who are of the upper classes are pompous and egotistical."
You states: THE [=all] upper-classes are egotistical and pompous. How is that not stating a false assumption? Honestly, how don't you see that? Specifiying it later is not justifying setting a false precedent like that. You should know that.
@Gardash111 Just for the record, because i have studied law in the past, i am not claiming to be a solicitor. As i'm sure you know, they are much to overworked to be spending time on youtube. Im actually a civil servant now, having any type of degree doesn't guarantee a position working within that field. My friend has a physics degree but works at the job centre. Happy motoring :-)
@benjibandido If you ask me, public service gives the highest financial award for the lowest possible job-pressure. But I guess that differs from nation to nation I guess.
I'm not familiar enough with english to get the verb 'motoring' in this context? If you meant driving a car, or sex (in slang), i'm rather confused now.
@Gardash111 well, in times of recession and with unemployment levels at their highest rate, the biggest priority is to simply get a job.
Upon graduating I unsuccessfully applied for numerous posts as Legal secretaries, and para-legals to office clarks.
Lack of work experience was the common excuse that employers gave for a refusal. I almost considered work as a bin collector! before i applied for my current post..... even with a degree in law, theres no guarantee of a champagne lifestyle.
@benjibandido Hey benji. You said you couldn't get a job even as a paralegal when you graduated law school?...Out of curiosity where did you graduate in your class and what work did you do?
Again, this is something regionally-bound I think. I obviously can't judge this, since it might also be bound to e.g. your character (not to be offensive, but just stating that it does not per se have to do with other factors). What degree , if any, is a guarantee of a champagne lifestyle? Imo, there's no such thing.
Heres a top tip: make friends with the smart people in the class, especially the ones who do the readings.
After classes talk to them and ask them "What did you think about the readings?". You would be amazed at some people who pretty much tell you about the whole reading and explain it well too.
@disamjisa Legal (law of the sea ! /statues/acts) comes from Government legislation, and as we are Governed by consent, Legal is only given the force of law by consent (contract)..Whereas, Lawful was conceived from Common Law Jurisdiction (aka law of the land), and is mandatory...With the Bill of Rights being the embodiment of that fact...
Its easy to complain about law school. Having personally gone through it, I found that my proffesors really affected my outlook on this particular career path. One in particular, proffessor bamberger, I found most helpful. Students love complaining about how difficult law school is, but in truth, its what you make of it and how hard you work. Anyone can say that any field of work is hard. Check out ProfBamberger's videos for help. He's awesome...trust me
Hi I have some questions and I was wondering if you could help me out because I really need some advice and I don't really think I can get it from someone who doesn't have any experience in going through with law school ...if you think you can help me out can you please send me a reply?..
The woman who speaks at 2.51 and at other various points is just the sort of person law students must not listen to. Although she has several good points, she blurs the issue and makes suggests a ritual of 1) reading textbook, 2) going to lecture) 3) reading textbook, 4) incorporating notes, 5) reading and making notes on cases.
This long process is time-wasting for merely one topic. It confuses first year law students as to how to begin studying.
I guess the beautiful thing is that different people have different strategies, so it is good when you start in university to try a few different things and see what works best for you. Thank you for your contribution about reading slowly and doing the work.

@benjibandido Btw 'Happy motoring' is just a phrase in England we sometimes use to say 'keep on going'. In other words, it can mean:
1. Keep your chin up.
2. Keep plodding on
3. Keep on Trekking
4. Can be used as a farewell message, also 'Happy Camping' is another example.
