The Bible is so full of suffering, hate, intolerance, destruction, etc., the Holocaust fits in with its whole ethos quite well. The Holocaust was in fact, a fairly typical kind of biblical punishment. The Bible is so full of suffering, hate, intolerance, destruction, etc., the Holocaust fits in with its whole ethos quite well. Of course, in the Bible, the next generation of Jews would have to go to the Germans and lay waste to them (cause they were bad too).

I've heard Jews say that the Holocaust was a fulfillment of Deuteronomy for abandoning the Covenant. Although I find this, also, tantamount to citing Lord of the Rings as justifying the Holocaust, I can concede that this interpretation would at least be consistent with Deuteronomy.

VFX asserted that the Holocaust was God's punishment upon the Jews for rejecting Christ. Adherence to the Law is irrelevant. The most dedicated Jew deserved the Holocaust.

Science and nihilism are not related, nihilism is the belief that value is not real and is falsely imposed upon things, usually the belief that life has no value and is without meaning. While certain religious types would want to paint the atheistic viewpoint as such, that is not what it represents, although the two are not mutually exclusive, and if you were a Nihilist it is very likely you would be an atheist, but not vice versa. Neo I'm not attacking or defending VenomFang, but the concept of God punishing people and nations for sins...predates VenomFang. In fact, the Jewish people believe in that principle. I don't know if VFX was saying they deserved it or not. In fact, he would be wise not to even address this topic. It can be viewd as anti-semetic.

Is God just? To call something an act of God is to identify it as just. If you feel the Holocaust was NOT a fair punishment for Jewish failure to convert to Christianity. maybe you shouldn't identify the Holocaust as a righteous act of God, but maybe more evil act committed by evil men.

Furthermore, if you take the time to actually read Deuteronomy 28, you will find that it ONLY applies to the original covenant and adherence to the Law of Moses. Over and over and over, it proclaims that God shall punish them if they abandon the Law. The Old Testament later gives several accounts of how God DID punish them when they strayed.
Christ represented a NEW covenant. If you wish to identify the Holocaust as God's Justice, you cannot use Deut 28 to justify it; it was null after NT.
