This caused a change in Yugoslav government who now rejected agreements giving Germany access through Yugoslavia to set up staging areas for the invasion of Russia. Now Greece was a belligerent Hitler had to invade Greece to secure his flank. Yugoslavia had to be subdued to provide staging areas for the invasion. Postponement was not Hitler's fault His only mistake was the choice of a buffoon as an ally
@anfony22 Not quite. The Russian roads were not ready for transport till the middle of June. The lost 3 weeks was, as AJP Taylor states, a myth which allowed the German generals to excuse their defeat by the Soviets. That's the real history on that.
