@AtheosRecords Africa is a diverse continent of varies ethic and racial mixes and does not equate with the black race. All of the human race evolved out of Africa. Neither does race mean culture. Black people encompass a huge range of back grounds and cultures. We must never teach black (or white) children as units. Children are unique individuals. To consider individuals nothing, apart from their group, their race, their ethnicity is at the very core of racial supremacy.
why dont u just say all white ppl r evil.....why is he shitting on the greeks and romans. where did we get math, democracy, currency, music, paved roads, plumbing 2 central heating..frm...them....what have blacks done....invent the car or flight..no..it was the evil whiteman....once again.....fuck this anti-white world....the host is cute.
I have a question, and I'm not a genius or all that itelectual, can't even spell the word, but why come they just don't pick a point "A" and a point "B" and start from there. Like, this happend, and then this and then this only thing is just sum it it a little ???
I agree that history should not be taught ethnocentrically and i feel this black focused sch has missed the point completely becos they are on the extreme. They don't understand that a child should not be presented with one side of truth but the whole truth. all ethnic groups have history that is important to know. Having a school titled black focused school is racist in itself and is not solving the problem. canada is a place of various ethnicities and should be embraced and not divided.
What is African culture anyway? Africa is a continent consisting of many nations with differing cultures. What about race? Black is not a culture or a country? Black people come from all parts of the globe. They relate to many different cultures or perhaps none. What do they have in common apart from race? What is it about them that requires teaching them as a unit? The TDSB can't even figure out whether the schools should be about race or culture. The whole notion is racist, divisive and silly.
What is the common cultural trend among the black folks from Brazil, haiti,Jamaica, southern USA,Benin, Kongo,Gambia,Ghana? European slavery did not destroy everything (thank to the Ancestors) there's a spiritual continuity,a kinship between the languages many Africans from the diapora are speaking with African language, they have almost the same mythological references ect...
Before you decree something you have no idea, please educate yourself. Read Cheikh Anta Diop,Ama Mazama,Obenga, Asante
Most people from the nations you mentioned are culturally and racially mixed. They share a great deal more diverse ancestral connections than just africa. Also Africa itself is a continent of many cultures and languages. Stop identifying Africa as as one people, it is not.
It is said by archeologists that the entire human species originated from Africa (If you trace back far enough). 500,000 years ago we all have a common ancestry which evolved and spread throughout the world.
Most people?Iam talking about the blacks those from African descent not the indians or the latinos or ect. What do you know about Africa that let you stress that the continent deals with many cultures?what you see as different is in fact ONE,France, Germany and England have the same cultural background even if apparently they're different,I mean I gave some insight to read: "Cultural Unity of Black Africa" from Dr Cheikh Anta Diop, you better know what you're talking about, shorty
I think a better approach would be to open it up to the public, HOWEVER, the curriculum would be focused on black children. Make it clear that the education is focused on African children... Don't limit the teachers to just black teachers... that is stupid. MAKE THE EDUCATION FOCUSED ON BLACK CULTURE, BUT ALLOW ALL RACES TO ATTEND.
I am very disappointed that the fucking ministry of education does not revamp the curriculum of education in canada. Why not include African history into the curriculum as a COMPLUSORY SUBJECT FOR ALL STUDENTS and get it taught by scholars who are experienced in the area. People in canada better start giving a fuck if they want their country to be better .
They should perhaps start by knowing basic facts about Canada's government, like that we don't have a national Ministry of Education because education is constitutionaly under provincial jurisdiction only.
Aside from that, and as Mr. McKeever mentioned on the programme, why should history be taught ethnocentrically in the first place? Students should learn all history with the most important and relevant dates, facts, concepts, advancements and ideas rising to the forefront of the curriculum.
@ossian27 what u on about? so the provinces supervise the curriculum and is admistered by district school boards .But within provinces, they do this under A MINISTRY OF EDUCATION and british columbia's high school curriculum is weird. I think the curriculum across provinces should be a bit similar and children need more class time in COMPREHENSIVE HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY.
Schools should teach the greatest human achievements. Should we teach negroid mathematics? Should we teach negroid science? Black people can have for serious historical reasons low self-esteem, and often restrict each others achievements. Black people need to be aware of reasons to be proud. But there is a danger in Afrocentrism claiming the achievements of other cultures as 'black' and it's academically dubious.
the european and whitemans colonial and imperialist power structure as oppressed blacks and ppl of color--black people r still held down through poverty illiteracy inequality and trickery by the white mans system.the truth is not racist.400 yrs of slavery and over 300,million african slaves slaughtered.2009 were still living in the worst projects in england america and the caribbean and africa all cause of racism.we need black school so we can educate our kids proper
wat some ppl dont understand is dat black black ppl have been affected by slavery and mistreatment that carries into generations--its a system of oppression that has plaqued blacks and even affect their daily living conditions-whites r held responsable even till this daydue 2 their pathetic insensitive outlook and denial of any such mistreatment-we have tried for over 500 yrs to get along with white folks and all we got in return was brain wash education its time 4 black schools.
the greeks changed the name from kemet which means land of the blacks to egypt in 332 BC wen the greeks invaded africa egypt.the ancient egyptians the kemet ppl called themself kememuo which means the black people.u just wont learn this in the white school systems this is why we need afrocentric schools 2 teach our youth their true history
the ancient gods of greece and europeans were of african origin but given european names-4 example the african god amun was renamed zeus by the greeks and jupiter by the romans-the african god heru associated with light and the sun was called apollo by the greeks and romans-the african god imhotep the god of healing and medicine was renamed asclepius by the greeks and aesclapius by the romans-wen all religions say amen they r saying the great god of egypt africa amen ra the sun god
ancient egypt 5000 yrs ago be 4 their was a greece or a rome was a society of scientists scholars organized religions with priesthood mathematicians scribes architetcts engineers stone and brick masons gold and silver smiths an advanced society.africa taught the world all this.wen euroepans were living in caves africans were building pyramids their r pyramids in egypt nubia and ethiopia but none in europe or the middle east or any arab countries it all started in africa
greek historians and philosophers that studied at the temple of waset ancient egypt africa 3.000 yrs ago.herodotus-apollodorus-plato-aristotle-euclid-pythegoras-hypocrates-diodorus-solon-thales-archimdes-euripides-the greeks came to ancient egypt and nubia and took bak with them-architecture mathmatics astronomy science and so forth.greeks r nothing but african copy cats and the romans r greek copy cats.the greeks learnt everything from AE and NUBIA .and its all documented we no our history
Great idea. Africans have evolved differently from other human varieties and need a special system to address their intellectual shortcomings.
Toronto needs to aggressively push all black students into these programs as they are undermining the quality of education of those from other backgrounds.
HOW FRICKEN RIDICULOUS !! if you are seriously even listening to this you are as retarted as the two of them. This is a waste of time trying to waste money and create distraction Whites are profiled and hurt more than anyone. But if whites cry its because we are racist! all people need to stop worrying about others accepting them and learn to accept others without prejudice, no matter what you all say happened, the Indians took hardest and got the least !!!!!!
racism is so sickening! I love the fact that After the white man pillaged the world and left a legacy of segregation, self hate and racism in their wake that they look back at their historic victims and ask: whats your problem? we would not need to segregate any of our schools if we truly had a society, government and police that looked upon everyone with out bias.
Why don't you research some of the many other cultures that were oppressive throughout history. White men did not invent oppression. You are, of course incredibly ignorant, so I will just wait for your moronic reply.
If blacks want to segregate themselves, let them. If it's so fucking bad to be around white people, let them go to a black school. Maybe the 60s never happened. If anything, they should hang with the whites more. Then they'll be around people who stay in school.
If the blacks that drop out of school end up being poor, well, maybe they should spread the word that being a stupidass isn't a good idea.
Logic came from the Greeks?!! This guy is hilarious! As if people other than Greeks have never thought logically! His attitude is precisely what is the problem with the educational system as it stands.
If you study philosophy, you might discover that the word "logic" has a specific meaning, that it had to be discovered, that - it was discovered by the Greeks (google Aristotle), that it is a subject taught in university, and that you are wrong.
I don't need to read about it to notice its eurocentricity. Other society developed philosophical discourses before the Greeks as well as the same time. They just had different terms for the same processes. After all, the Greeks went to Egypt for its philosophy among other things. These places, too, had taught their philosophical discourse at university (Timbuktu comes to mind here, for example). Greek philosophy is good, but it has never been the only one available to Mankind. That's my point.
Egypt had no philosophy before the Greeks. There is no Egyptian philosophy. There was Egyptian myth, there was Egyptian religion, but there was absolutely no Egyptian philosophy. Name me one Egyptian philosopher, just one. Timbuktu was a fly infested dump, which had a few Mosques, and a few Muslim "philosophers", they made no contribution to modern philosophy. There is plenty of non-greek philosophy, but there is no African philosophy.
Now you're making me laugh. I guess "Greek" philosophers did not study in Egypt. And I can guess that Timbuctu was not famed for teaching Law and Medicine either. I mean, after all, people from around the world travelled to these places for the "myth" and "flies". You're Greco-centric/Euro-centric you cannot even begin to credit any other race in the world for anything! next you'll be writing that Europe was the first civilisation before any other. It's so nice to revise history. Keep it up!LOL
No, greek philosophers did not study in Egypt, name me one who did. Please, name me one black African philosopher, name me one school of African philosophy, name me one African philosophical idea. I'll credit the Indians, the Chinese and the Arabs with some important philosophical ideas, but the Africans have given us nothing in terms of philosophy. Timbuktu was a center of Islamic learning, people went there to learn Muslim and Arab ideas, there is not and has never been an African philosophy.
Africans:Anthony William Amo; Plotinus (3rd century CE); Augustine of Hippo (354 to 430 CE); Maulan Karenga. Just a few. Being a center of islamic studies does not mean they were not African. Just as Romanised and Hellenicised Europeans does not mean they were not English, Irish or German. Good luck to you.
You are right. Most Greel philosophers DID NOT STUDY IN EGYPT.And ancient Greel philosophy of reason is a)original b)has nothing to do with egyptian ideas.
It's not just black kids that are being mis-educated, white kids are as well:
How many kids of all color know that they all have BLACK African ancestry.
How many kids know that Aristotle, Thales, Pythagoras, Diodorus, Plato & Strabo and many more Ancient Greeks studied in Egypt, from a young age until adulthood and probably all got their knowledge from Black African Egyptians.
There's no such thing as the 'Greek Miracle'.
Do your own HONEST research cuz u won't be taught this in school.
In Ontario there are entire school boards based on religious background who only hire their own.Why no screaming about these schools? I don't need a history lesson as to why they exist. The fact is there are already schools out there which are developed on those particular groups'features.Having a Black school seems to be not PC but why not give it a chance. If it works, everyone benefits.
This discussion totally misses the point. Black youths are being mis-educated in a Eurocentric educational system due 2 a systematic failure 2 acknowledge the primary contribution 2 civilisation made by black Africans. The real point is black people need 2 take this vital matter in to their own hands and not beg establishments to include this information in 2 its curriculum, which it may or may not do. By the way the ancient Greeks learnt from the Egyptians, a perfect example of mis-education.
Agreed. But why not just include it as an elective course in secondary education institutions? It is neccessary to understand one's heritage, but if our education seems Euro Centric I can't help but think that it is so because Canada as we know it today was populated primarily by Europeans.
While Canadian History is a neccessary course in I think all Canadian schools, all European and World Histories are optional. A similar approach to other ethno centric courses would be sensible.

That would be like telling Quebecers to go back to France or for English-speaking Canadians to go back to the UK - this is NOT YOUR COUNTRY! This land belongs to the Natives first of all - why don't we all learn to speak Ojibwa or Algonquin? Because White Canadians like you want everything to be their way and don't care about the minorities. Guess what, there are more people of colour in Toronto than their are whites. Isn't Toronto where this idea was first proposed for?
If someone wants to learn and make a life for themselves, they will work hard for it. LEarning about their culture is extra and they can do that on their own time. If they dont have the will, they wont do it. Not my problem. Im working hard at shcool to make soemthing for myself, and if the black kids dont want to, its not my problem. Issues at home? Social issues? Plain and simple i say fuck you and make something of yourself before you blame the system
Well, back to the issue. The school is a bad idea like you have agreed, but the curriculum shouldnt be changed either. Everyone that works to graduate will, no matter what they learn in high school. Dropping out is the students decision, not the shcool board. And if people wanted to learn about their culture they would ask family, and go beyond school and research it themselves. The black kids dont seem interested in school in general, not just because they arent being taught their history.
it's not about culture - how can you take courses on your culture. It's about history. Why do we offer courses in French, spanish, portugese, japanese, and cantonese? The same reason why we should offer african languages, african history and etc - I sense a double standard!
Sertima is a joke in the field. He is letting his desire rather than evidence drive this theories. He has been criticised by experts who have called have said his theories are based in fantasies. This is the problem when political agendas drive education. My fear is that Afrocentric schools start to teach this drivel rather than real African accomplishments.
Van Sertima is an Anthropologist, linguist and Historian like any other - do your research. How do you explain terra cottas that depict both brown skinned people and black skinned people among the Olmec - you still haven't explained the Oral tradition of the Olmec yet have you? Running away from facts are we? Oh well, one day I'll find some evidence for this that will make you look like any idiot, if that is not already true - take care
Have all of you guys wondered how is americas economy going to go up. You dont see the smart european people coming anymore to the states but just people from war torn countries. You need a educationally strong country to be powerful and thats why the us is going down hill. And look who is going to replace them china where they think education is the most important thing. You even see it here they are different and study hard.
Afro-centric schools are the worst idea I have ever heard. The students who do graduate from high school currently do so without taking courses on their ethnicity. In Canadian history we learn about portageurs, railroads, and Louis Riel which has nothing to do with anyones ethnicity. Offer courses in African history, Asian history or whatever in junior high school on up. Don't separate children on the basis of race. They want to create entire curriculums to teach what should be one course.
True, I agree, but it's not just about history. An afrocentric education teaches, African culture, a culture that has all until recently vanished from the memories of the descendants of slaves. African music, African novels, languages, every thing from African board games to ancient history - black kids need to learn this and it's more than you can pack in one course.
If they want to learn about African culture, music, novels etc. then their parents should teach them. We live in Canada, and although its multic-cultural, you need to learn the values and history of Canada, not of Africa. We learn about european history b/c it influenced our canadian history. My parents taught me at home about my south american history, and i am not bitching about it not being taught at school. Afro-centric schools is a bad idea.
Good point, but you have to understand that even most parents don't know a lot about African history? Remember, a lot of blacks in Canada are not from Africa, as opposed to your parents who are from South America. Even a lot of Africans don't know African history, a lot of facts have been distorted. In the black community, knowledge of that kind isn't as widespread as it should be, only some scholars who know the truth, and only so many books that contain truth of African accomplishments.
Ya, but if the parents dont know its not my fault or Canada's fault. Facts have been distorted about ALL history, and thats why there are books written on all history. They may be hard to find, but if they are going to make a school teaching it, then they must be out there.
They are out there, in which case, there's no reason for the Curriculum to ignore it all. Why give children a Eurocentric education, when you can make Canadian students know more about the world as a whole, that's more beneficial isn't it? I mean, it's not only black kids that should know some of this stuff, it should be common knowledge rather than people always trying to cover up the achievements of non-europeans as it often occurs.
thats what libraries are for. there is absolutely nothing preventing any student to go to local public library and research on teh background of his ancestors homeland.
I'm getting awfully tired of teh problems stateside trickling over here. The underground railroad..is that piece of history forgotten???
@bryarc27 how will their parents teach them? they don't know either.neither did their parents, nor the ones before them.your parents taught you about you culture and history cause they didn't lose it.the only history we learn is that we were slaves.
@bryarc27 consider what your saying, "If they want to learn about African culture, music, novels etc. then their parents should teach them." they don't know their own history because it was stolen from them. At least you know you are south american. do you know how difficult it is to trace back an a african-americans ancestry? I understand your anger but perhaps if you can just see it from a different perspective. Also see what is taught in the existing school system about blacks. Peace & Love
Of course, there may be other factors that contribute to the higher drop out rate amongst blacks, but afro-centric schools will reduce this even though it is not ideal.
Just to clarify - I disagree with afro-centric schools, but I merely think that we should stop deliberately excluding african history from elective courses such as "World History" and "Ancient History". When we teach math, we need to stop saying that the Greeks were the only contributors to math, when really - a lot of black egyptian scholars (Imhotep for example) taught many early Greek scholars. We need to stop omitting stuff like that. Same goes for all other peoples' histories.
Do you know how it feels for everyone around you to think that you're not cut out to do stuff because you're black? There are a lot of black kids who don't know what to believe and will actually accept that. It sounds ridiculous, but they're children. As for the parents, a lot of black parents, many of whom are immigrants from black countries, don't understand how that feels, and don't or didn't feel the same necessity to clean up after the mistakes of the Ontario school curriculum.
How about Anta Cheik Diop, Ivan Van Sertima, or Lewis Latimer? Do we talk about them. Why is Hippocrates the "Father of Medicine" and not Imhotep, a black man from Egypt? Everytime you turn on the history channel - WWI or WWII or ancient greek, roman, or a white portrayal of egypt. What do you see about black people on TV predominantly? Rap music, sports and movies. Black kids are so influenced by this illusion that they themselves start to think that they'll only be accepted if they do this.
The reason why role models are so important is that the Canadian/American media has created the powerful illusion that Black people are good for nothing more than gang violence, dancing, basketball and music. While some one like you might think this is true, it is entirely not. Young black kids see this, and don't see any positive role models to tell them that this is not the case. Off the top of your head, can you think of any famous black scientists, engineers, inventors, or historians?
First of all, BET isn't even a standard channel on basic cable. Second of all, the history channel is filled with WWI, WWII, white egypt, and slavery during black history month. No Timbuktu, no Napata, no Philae, no Great Zimbabwe - you haven't even year of some of those places - weren't you watching the history channel? How come you didn't learn it from there? lol - my point exactly. Even the textbooks don't contain such knowledge.
Yes, but if you were to look at the egyptians 5000 years ago, I bet you'd notice that a lot of them were black - the population of the region known today as "Egypt" has changed over the years (understatement). Do your research before you embarrass yourself.
"look at egyptians 5000 yrs ago" oh really u have the polaroid eveidence do u research boy. we have got to get past this race crap..its the human race folks be part of the solution not part of the fricken problem
Well the minorities in this country have all the right to be Canadians as much as anyone else. As such, our histories should be represented just as much as the histories of anyone else. I'm not talking about making Canadian history courses less Canadian, I'm just talking about coming up with elective courses that kids can take to learn more about their own histories. Even still, since we're all a part of the human race, your history is my history, so we should all learn each others' histories!
With regards to the Egyptians 5000 years ago, there is extensive evidence that the majority of Egypt's cultural, technological, and religious influences are derived from the South (Sudan, etc) and not from the North - I've done plenty of research thanks.
giant i see that you are familiar with Dr. ivan Sertima. So how else to xplain how men 1000 years ago were aware of Sirrus?. i dont underestimate African knowledge, quite the contrary, Africa was the epicentre of "technology" 5 thousand yrs ago or more. Certainly there is ample evidence from around the globe that "gods" from above shared knowledge. the dogon the zulu the mexican olmec. which is why i think all knowledge should be shared. private schools not the answer.
Dexterriley, I disagree with Afrocentric schools but believe that the curriculum should be expanded. You might be aware of evidence that Egyptians traveled to Mexico and influenced the Olmec (Olmec pyramids, sarcophagi, egyptian gods, the double crown etc.). As for the Dogon, they are believed to be of Egyptian descent, and having continued Egyptian astronomy. People seem to downplay African achievements/attribute them to others. When that's not possible, they leave it out of the curriculum.
The evidence of ancient Egyptians visiting the Olmec is false. This was based on certain artifacts found in Mexico that one researcher believed was Egyptian. Subsequent analysis by experts have proved that was wrong. Also the Olmec and the ancient Egyptian civilians separated by 1000's of year. It would be equivalent to saying Jesus visited George Bush (literally).
The Egyptian civilization overlapped the Olmec - in Other words, the Egyptian civilization existed before and after the Olmec existed - the Egyptians had papyrus reed boats, yes, but numerous experiments have been carried out and people have rebuilt these boats and sailed from Africa to America - block me if you want, you're still wrong.
By the way, you need to do some research - there were black people in Asia before the first civilizations started to emerge...
I mean no disrespect but Ancient Egyptians weren't negroid. I have studied this for many years and I can't believe how the revisionist theories aren't challenged for fear of been called a racist. I hate racism but we must be honest about history and culture. Research done on ancient Egyptian skulls have proved conclusively that they weren't negroid.
Before the arrival of Asiatic invaders and migrants, the indigenous people of Pre dynastic and early dynastic egypt were "Negroid" - even Basil Davidson, a british historian says that.
Thinking back, actually no one in school really wanted to attend "history" class no matter WHO's history that it was to be taught.
Hey, if there must be a "history class" to be learned then hey, let's keep it CANADIAN...I dunno...... you crazy Ontario folks just bitch too much and look for shit to bitch about - just work it out!......
The question isn' t about ruining the point of Canadian history courses by taking away the Canadian history, but by simply not omitting things that pertain to blacks. As well, what about electives like world history and what not - can't we include more African history - you have to admit, what can you tell me about African history before colonialism (except for egypt)?
As a W/F 41, who grew up in Toronto...I have to laugh and say, "hello, folks??? Is anyone out there anymore?". Hell things were just fine in elementary/high school b4 you crazzies decided to jump board... Stop already, in my days whites/blacks/asians etc got along just fine "thank you very much", it wasn't until this shit started that made crazy even CRAZIER!
I'm so glad the afro school is going through. Once it collapses like it will, they will no longer have any more excuses as to why their children aren't doing well, bad parenting!
I don't see chinese kids needing a special school. I don't see them complaining about "lack of role models", those are just excuses for bad parents!
You would; why don't you join the KKK while you're at it!? Chinese culture is celebrated in Canada, don't you get it? Chinese restaurants, movies, religions, artwork. Have you ever eaten at a Malian restaurant? Do you know anything positive about that country or any other African country? Obviously not. A lot of black youngsters are in the same shoes because when they turn on the TV the radio, etc. They see every ethnicity and place celebrated positively except for Africa and it's descendants.
Did the chinese have to make chin-o-centric schools to become celebrated? Are african people unable to invest money or get bank loans to be able to open up restaurants? Did I say I didn't want to learn about african history and culture?
Nice straw man argument by the way. While we're at it, why don't you join the black panthers and go kill a honkey or two.
This is about bad parenting and people's inability to take responsibility for their actions.
You are so stupid that I can't even formulate a response to that. Just, just shut up and go hit your head against a wall somewhere. In your case, that would actually improve your intelligence (you dumb person).
What you don't seem to get is that people are people. Coming up with some excuse that they need role models of curiculums based on histories most of them weren't even a part of is just covering up the fact their parents are too busy working 3 jobs or playing xbox and getting high to care about what their kids are doing.
Stop treating them like handicapped children, and treat them like everyone else.
Treating them like handicapped children!? I'm one of them you imbecile. I know what the school system's about, I graduated last year. The only thing that kept me going were the positive black role models, past and present (dating as far back as Mentuhotep I in ancient egypt to Malcolm X). We had a large part in world history, and if black students are taught this at a young age, it will boost their confidence and set them up for success just like white students get. You wouldn't understand.
If you think you need a role model of the same skin colour as you, you're very sad indeed. My biggest "role model" is chinese. You take wisdom from where it comes, and ignoring wisdom because of it's source is just ignorant.
I never needed role models to succeed. What I needed were parents that cared enough about my education to make sure I spent the time doing my homework and studying, and not getting high and playing xbox.
Bad parenting is what is at fault here. The sooner the black community stops looking for excuses and comes to this realization, the sooner it will pull itself out of whatever funk it's in.
And for the record, I'm Canadian, not European, not white, not native american. I was born and raised in Canada. My history lessons consisted of ancient greeks and romans. Just because I didn't learn about "positive canadian role models" doesn't mean I get to have special treatment. Life is though suck it up
And please tell me when is the last time you heard of Chinese History Month? Black history is celebrated FAR more than any other culture. You don't know enough to know that you don't know anything.
What you're saying is that everyone else isn't celebrating YOUR culture enough for you!
What about Carabana? When was the last time you saw a White Carabana?
White Carabana? Well considering that Carabana isn't about Black people but about people from the Carribean, it's not a "Black thing" in the first place. There are lot of ethnicities involved with Caribbean culture. What you meant to say is "How about a North American Carabana". How about the Thanksgiving Parade - enough said.
Logic came from the Greeks? Afro (rather Afri-)centric education isn't soley about exemplifying extraordinary black folks--it's about the culture, the systems, the traditions, etc of the continent and it's peoples.
"parents beaten and murdered" you need to study your history, some abs suffered at the hands of pedophile priests, but don't try and pretend that there was some kind of genocidal agenda.like the States did.I have nothing against our native people i'm just stating facts.
If you think it's a matter of cause and effect then you must understand the nature of causality before you can change the effect.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of people do not understand the nature of causality. All they know is linear causality: partA affects partB affects partC. They do not perceive the non-linear aspect of causality: wholeA guides partA-Z, partA-Z create wholeA (non-linear duality).
And so, nothing will be fixed, merely re-arranged.
Jesus Christ!!! Why the hell are we modeling anything after what the States do?!! You've got to be f@#cking kidding me! Teach all the kids equally. It's not just black children dropping out of schools in Ontario, it's a rainbow of kids dropping out. The study of logic is the most powerful form of academic study known to humanity, who cares if it came from the Greeks. I hate how we Canadians are always trying to relate to the USA. Do you really think the USA gives a flying f@#ck about us?
We don't need Afro-centric schools. We need the curriculum to DELIBERATELY go out of its way to include African history, & African contributions to all disciplines. Given the severe Eurocentrism of North America, this is the only measure that can reverse the brainwashing effects of our current society on todays Black youth. For instance, math classes discuss Pythagorus, Hippocrates, & etc. What about the Black Egyptian scholars who taught these Greek math "pioneers"? The curriculum ignores them.
That host is gorgeous. So if you're a white male that drops out nobody gives a shit because you're born to privelage?????There's a myth in this country of Racism,it's a lie,an excuse that minorities use for their own laziness, whites don't get that "out".Canada's history is one of tolerance, underground railroad etc.The ugliest incidents were/are,between english and french. The only people born to privelage based on race are aboriginals,so remember kids race doesn't matter, unless you're native.
Oh yeah, totally. I mean it's not like aboriginal culture was totally ripped apart, children forcibly removed, forced to go to boarding schools, made to reject and feel a shamed of their culture, raped (literally) beaten, their parents beaten and murdered, barred from practicing their culture, and in the present totally neglected by social services in the half-assed reserves we let them have. Yeah, aboriginals got it sweet. Dumbass...
The kids are not dropping out because of ethnicity, they are dropping out because they have difficulty with the curriculum and they may live in conditions that is difficult to nurture education.
Instead of making an "afrocentric" school make schools and/or programs for all students finding difficulty in learning.
What a terrible moderator. Shouldn't she be impartial rather than interjecting personal opinions? I find her patronizing attitude rather transparent as well.
Keep in mind that Christine has an immensely difficult multi-tasking job to do. While she is hosting, control-room folks are talking into her ear about a host of things, including such things as sound levels, troubles with phone systems, the timing of commercial breaks, etc. Also, Christine tries to bring on as many calls as time permits: she wants her audience to have a chance to air their views. All the while, she has to keep the show spirited enough to maintain interest (which she does).
Logic did not start in Greece you liberal hypocrite. No wonder you don't want Afrocentric schools, it will expose your white lies. And I love how the long haired negro liberal beside you tried to ridicule the purpose of Afrocentric schools ("curriculum issue") but ends up making an argument in support of such schools: studies show school environment that provide more attention and care to its students will succeed. But without poor suffering blacks you would be out of a job, liberal.
no dumbfuck, why dont we just send you a million great supporting teacher and finally pass those certain people who wont pass any other way. No, I dont want my tax money being sent to certain people who don't want to study. Why dont i get the extra attention?
That doesn't matter she's still terrible at her job. I find her very annoying when she says "uh-huh,""ofcourse," or "I agree." I'd like to hear what her guests are saying and not her nattering voice.
why the fuck are they even argueing about this?! Black and whites should NOT be seperated, fuck... these ppl are acting like little kids and excluding others because theyr black and claiming its for 'everyones benefit' Bull shit.
How exactly is it racist to think that someone of privilege might not know what underprivileged people want? You think everyone wants to be and think like you?
Two (2) politically correct social marxists. Some debate, let me tell you. The fact is that race is real and it is important regardless of what these 2 panty wastes have to say. Blacks and Whites learn differently and our morals, values, and ethical behavior clearly differ.
I see it as everybody has the same chance in Ontario, it's up to yourself, and if you don't understand that maybe you will one day when you're broke or something.
ok, i thought the reason why john tory lost the election was mostly because of his commitment to fund faith-based schools. so why are we so intent on doing this now when it's basically the same thing? No matter how many people say that it's also meant for white people, this black school idea is completely stupid.
i dont think race has anything to do with the drop out rates... like some other people said , its socio-economic problems... we have lots of asian immigrants who come that can barely speak english and they still get their high school diploma... these new schools are a joke and set us back 50 years...
If the premise of having a need for black schools is that there are so many drop-outs, shouldn't the focus simply be on setting up some kind of remedial school for kids who are failing? If most happen to black, well so be it.
Race based schools are problematic for multipule reasons; they circumvent the real problem regarding high black drop-out rates which is socio-poltical in origin; the school system is but one institution of a larger superstructure, two, it is undermining socio-political-cultural pluralism which is intergral to a multifarious society. The same reasoning applied to backs schools can be applied to any ethic group if one is to hold a consistant position.
this is a very stupid idea, we do not need to create a new publicly funded school to teach black only history, we could have a black only history course in schools, just like we have a french course
white man feeling his privileged position threatened...
muwuhu 8 months ago
@AtheosRecords Africa is a diverse continent of varies ethic and racial mixes and does not equate with the black race. All of the human race evolved out of Africa. Neither does race mean culture. Black people encompass a huge range of back grounds and cultures. We must never teach black (or white) children as units. Children are unique individuals. To consider individuals nothing, apart from their group, their race, their ethnicity is at the very core of racial supremacy.

The whole notion is racist, divisive and silly.
sweetsweatyfeet 2 years ago 4
What is the common cultural trend among the black folks from Brazil, haiti,Jamaica, southern USA,Benin, Kongo,Gambia,Ghana? European slavery did not destroy everything (thank to the Ancestors) there's a spiritual continuity,a kinship between the languages many Africans from the diapora are speaking with African language, they have almost the same mythological references ect...
Before you decree something you have no idea, please educate yourself. Read Cheikh Anta Diop,Ama Mazama,Obenga, Asante
TheSoundjataKeita 2 years ago
Most people from the nations you mentioned are culturally and racially mixed. They share a great deal more diverse ancestral connections than just africa. Also Africa itself is a continent of many cultures and languages. Stop identifying Africa as as one people, it is not.
It is said by archeologists that the entire human species originated from Africa (If you trace back far enough). 500,000 years ago we all have a common ancestry which evolved and spread throughout the world.
sweetsweatyfeet 2 years ago
Most people?Iam talking about the blacks those from African descent not the indians or the latinos or ect. What do you know about Africa that let you stress that the continent deals with many cultures?what you see as different is in fact ONE,France, Germany and England have the same cultural background even if apparently they're different,I mean I gave some insight to read: "Cultural Unity of Black Africa" from Dr Cheikh Anta Diop, you better know what you're talking about, shorty
TheSoundjataKeita 2 years ago
I found the concept odd.

People in canada better start giving a fuck if they want their country to be better .
solaluvzchocolat 2 years ago
They should perhaps start by knowing basic facts about Canada's government, like that we don't have a national Ministry of Education because education is constitutionaly under provincial jurisdiction only.
ossian27 2 years ago
Aside from that, and as Mr. McKeever mentioned on the programme, why should history be taught ethnocentrically in the first place? Students should learn all history with the most important and relevant dates, facts, concepts, advancements and ideas rising to the forefront of the curriculum.
ossian27 2 years ago

But there is a danger in Afrocentrism claiming the achievements of other cultures as 'black' and it's academically dubious.

racism is so sickening!

His attitude is precisely what is the problem with the educational system as it stands.
goebels99 3 years ago
If you study philosophy, you might discover that the word "logic" has a specific meaning, that it had to be discovered, that - it was discovered by the Greeks (google Aristotle), that it is a subject taught in university, and that you are wrong.
PaulMcKeever 3 years ago
I don't need to read about it to notice its eurocentricity. Other society developed philosophical discourses before the Greeks as well as the same time. They just had different terms for the same processes. After all, the Greeks went to Egypt for its philosophy among other things. These places, too, had taught their philosophical discourse at university (Timbuktu comes to mind here, for example). Greek philosophy is good, but it has never been the only one available to Mankind. That's my point.
goebels99 3 years ago
Maby it's ur point but logic came from Greeks. Can't believe that u can b so ignorant/uneducated it that matter
Polones12 3 years ago
Egypt had no philosophy before the Greeks. There is no Egyptian philosophy. There was Egyptian myth, there was Egyptian religion, but there was absolutely no Egyptian philosophy. Name me one Egyptian philosopher, just one. Timbuktu was a fly infested dump, which had a few Mosques, and a few Muslim "philosophers", they made no contribution to modern philosophy. There is plenty of non-greek philosophy, but there is no African philosophy.
jacobins3000 3 years ago
Now you're making me laugh. I guess "Greek" philosophers did not study in Egypt. And I can guess that Timbuctu was not famed for teaching Law and Medicine either. I mean, after all, people from around the world travelled to these places for the "myth" and "flies". You're Greco-centric/Euro-centric you cannot even begin to credit any other race in the world for anything! next you'll be writing that Europe was the first civilisation before any other. It's so nice to revise history. Keep it up!LOL
goebels99 3 years ago
No, greek philosophers did not study in Egypt, name me one who did. Please, name me one black African philosopher, name me one school of African philosophy, name me one African philosophical idea. I'll credit the Indians, the Chinese and the Arabs with some important philosophical ideas, but the Africans have given us nothing in terms of philosophy. Timbuktu was a center of Islamic learning, people went there to learn Muslim and Arab ideas, there is not and has never been an African philosophy.
jacobins3000 3 years ago
Africans:Anthony William Amo; Plotinus (3rd century CE); Augustine of Hippo (354 to 430 CE); Maulan Karenga. Just a few. Being a center of islamic studies does not mean they were not African. Just as Romanised and Hellenicised Europeans does not mean they were not English, Irish or German. Good luck to you.

GXZZZZ1000 3 years ago

Because White Canadians like you want everything to be their way and don't care about the minorities. Guess what, there are more people of colour in Toronto than their are whites. Isn't Toronto where this idea was first proposed for?
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
If someone wants to learn and make a life for themselves, they will work hard for it. LEarning about their culture is extra and they can do that on their own time. If they dont have the will, they wont do it. Not my problem. Im working hard at shcool to make soemthing for myself, and if the black kids dont want to, its not my problem. Issues at home? Social issues? Plain and simple i say fuck you and make something of yourself before you blame the system
bryarc27 3 years ago
Well, back to the issue. The school is a bad idea like you have agreed, but the curriculum shouldnt be changed either. Everyone that works to graduate will, no matter what they learn in high school. Dropping out is the students decision, not the shcool board. And if people wanted to learn about their culture they would ask family, and go beyond school and research it themselves. The black kids dont seem interested in school in general, not just because they arent being taught their history.
bryarc27 3 years ago
it's not about culture - how can you take courses on your culture. It's about history. Why do we offer courses in French, spanish, portugese, japanese, and cantonese? The same reason why we should offer african languages, african history and etc - I sense a double standard!
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
Sertima is a joke in the field. He is letting his desire rather than evidence drive this theories. He has been criticised by experts who have called have said his theories are based in fantasies. lukester203 3 years ago
They want to create entire curriculums to teach what should be one course.
porterhouse 3 years ago 3
True, I agree, but it's not just about history. An afrocentric education teaches, African culture, a culture that has all until recently vanished from the memories of the descendants of slaves. African music, African novels, languages, every thing from African board games to ancient history - black kids need to learn this and it's more than you can pack in one course.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
If they want to learn about African culture, music, novels etc. then their parents should teach them. We live in Canada, and although its multic-cultural, you need to learn the values and history of Canada, not of Africa. We learn about european history b/c it influenced our canadian history. My parents taught me at home about my south american history, and i am not bitching about it not being taught at school. Afro-centric schools is a bad idea.
bryarc27 3 years ago 4
Good point, but you have to understand that even most parents don't know a lot about African history? Remember, a lot of blacks in Canada are not from Africa, as opposed to your parents who are from South America. Even a lot of Africans don't know African history, a lot of facts have been distorted. In the black community, knowledge of that kind isn't as widespread as it should be, only some scholars who know the truth, and only so many books that contain truth of African accomplishments.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
Ya, but if the parents dont know its not my fault or Canada's fault. Facts have been distorted about ALL history, and thats why there are books written on all history. They may be hard to find, but if they are going to make a school teaching it, then they must be out there.
bryarc27 3 years ago
They are out there, in which case, there's no reason for the Curriculum to ignore it all. Why give children a Eurocentric education, when you can make Canadian students know more about the world as a whole, that's more beneficial isn't it? I mean, it's not only black kids that should know some of this stuff, it should be common knowledge rather than people always trying to cover up the achievements of non-europeans as it often occurs.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago

@bryarc27 consider what your saying, "If they want to learn about African culture, music, novels etc. then their parents should teach them." they don't know their own history because it was stolen from them. At least you know you are south american. do you know how difficult it is to trace back an a african-americans ancestry? I understand your anger but perhaps if you can just see it from a different perspective. Also see what is taught in the existing school system about blacks. Peace & Love
360gm 1 year ago
Of course, there may be other factors that contribute to the higher drop out rate amongst blacks, but afro-centric schools will reduce this even though it is not ideal.
son365 3 years ago
Just to clarify - I disagree with afro-centric schools, but I merely think that we should stop deliberately excluding african history from elective courses such as "World History" and "Ancient History". When we teach math, we need to stop saying that the Greeks were the only contributors to math, when really - a lot of black egyptian scholars (Imhotep for example) taught many early Greek scholars. We need to stop omitting stuff like that. Same goes for all other peoples' histories.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
Do you know how it feels for everyone around you to think that you're not cut out to do stuff because you're black? There are a lot of black kids who don't know what to believe and will actually accept that. It sounds ridiculous, but they're children. As for the parents, a lot of black parents, many of whom are immigrants from black countries, don't understand how that feels, and don't or didn't feel the same necessity to clean up after the mistakes of the Ontario school curriculum.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago 2
How about Anta Cheik Diop, Ivan Van Sertima, or Lewis Latimer? Do we talk about them. Why is Hippocrates the "Father of Medicine" and not Imhotep, a black man from Egypt? Everytime you turn on the history channel - WWI or WWII or ancient greek, roman, or a white portrayal of egypt. What do you see about black people on TV predominantly? Rap music, sports and movies. Black kids are so influenced by this illusion that they themselves start to think that they'll only be accepted if they do this.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
The reason why role models are so important is that the Canadian/American media has created the powerful illusion that Black people are good for nothing more than gang violence, dancing, basketball and music. While some one like you might think this is true, it is entirely not. Young black kids see this, and don't see any positive role models to tell them that this is not the case. Off the top of your head, can you think of any famous black scientists, engineers, inventors, or historians?
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
They choose to watch BET instead of history channel. They dont need their role models to be white. MLK looked up to gandhi.
wade2bosh 3 years ago
First of all, BET isn't even a standard channel on basic cable. Second of all, the history channel is filled with WWI, WWII, white egypt, and slavery during black history month. No Timbuktu, no Napata, no Philae, no Great Zimbabwe - you haven't even year of some of those places - weren't you watching the history channel? How come you didn't learn it from there? lol - my point exactly. Even the textbooks don't contain such knowledge.

I'm not talking about making Canadian history courses less Canadian, I'm just talking about coming up with elective courses that kids can take to learn more about their own histories. Even still, since we're all a part of the human race, your history is my history, so we should all learn each others' histories!

With regards to the Egyptians 5000 years ago, there is extensive evidence that the majority of Egypt's cultural, technological, and religious influences are derived from the South (Sudan, etc) and not from the North - I've done plenty of research thanks.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
oh the egyptians influence came from the north way north..about north as u can get..as in straight up

You believe in aliens giving ideas to the Egyptians? Another way of underestimating Ancient African knowledge...
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
giant i see that you are familiar with Dr. ivan Sertima. So how else to xplain how men 1000 years ago were aware of Sirrus?. i dont underestimate African knowledge, quite the contrary, Africa was the epicentre of "technology" 5 thousand yrs ago or more. Certainly there is ample evidence from around the globe that "gods" from above shared knowledge. the dogon the zulu the mexican olmec. which is why i think all knowledge should be shared. private schools not the answer.
dexterriley 3 years ago
Dexterriley, I disagree with Afrocentric schools but believe that the curriculum should be expanded. You might be aware of evidence that Egyptians traveled to Mexico and influenced the Olmec (Olmec pyramids, sarcophagi, egyptian gods, the double crown etc.). As for the Dogon, they are believed to be of Egyptian descent, and having continued Egyptian astronomy. People seem to downplay African achievements/attribute them to others. When that's not possible, they leave it out of the curriculum.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
The evidence of ancient Egyptians visiting the Olmec is false. This was based on certain artifacts found in Mexico that one researcher believed was Egyptian. Subsequent analysis by experts have proved that was wrong. Also the Olmec and the ancient Egyptian civilians separated by 1000's of year. It would be equivalent to saying Jesus visited George Bush (literally).
JohnPurvis 3 years ago
The Egyptian civilization overlapped the Olmec - in Other words, the Egyptian civilization existed before and after the Olmec existed - the Egyptians had papyrus reed boats, yes, but numerous experiments have been carried out and people have rebuilt these boats and sailed from Africa to America - block me if you want, you're still wrong.
By the way, you need to do some research - there were black people in Asia before the first civilizations started to emerge...
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
I mean no disrespect but Ancient Egyptians weren't negroid. I have studied this for many years and I can't believe how the revisionist theories aren't challenged for fear of been called a racist. I hate racism but we must be honest about history and culture. Research done on ancient Egyptian skulls have proved conclusively that they weren't negroid.
JohnPurvis 3 years ago
Before the arrival of Asiatic invaders and migrants, the indigenous people of Pre dynastic and early dynastic egypt were "Negroid" - even Basil Davidson, a british historian says that.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
Thinking back, actually no one in school really wanted to attend "history" class no matter WHO's history that it was to be taught.
Hey, if there must be a "history class" to be learned then hey, let's keep it CANADIAN...I dunno...... you crazy Ontario folks just bitch too much and look for shit to bitch about - just work it out!......
oooops! Did I just ask too much?
rainslave 3 years ago
The question isn' t about ruining the point of Canadian history courses by taking away the Canadian history, but by simply not omitting things that pertain to blacks. As well, what about electives like world history and what not - can't we include more African history - you have to admit, what can you tell me about African history before colonialism (except for egypt)?
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
As a W/F 41, who grew up in Toronto...I have to laugh and say, "hello, folks??? Is anyone out there anymore?". Hell things were just fine in elementary/high school b4 you crazzies decided to jump board... Stop already, in my days whites/blacks/asians etc got along just fine "thank you very much", it wasn't until this shit started that made crazy even CRAZIER!
rainslave 3 years ago
Back then, there was not gangster rap playing on the radio and TV 24/7 was there? That's a major influence on youngsters, you have to admit.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
I'm so glad the afro school is going through. Once it collapses like it will, they will no longer have any more excuses as to why their children aren't doing well, bad parenting!
I don't see chinese kids needing a special school. I don't see them complaining about "lack of role models", those are just excuses for bad parents!
I want a white-centric school.
Rantandreason 3 years ago
You would; why don't you join the KKK while you're at it!? Chinese culture is celebrated in Canada, don't you get it? Chinese restaurants, movies, religions, artwork. Have you ever eaten at a Malian restaurant? Do you know anything positive about that country or any other African country? Obviously not. A lot of black youngsters are in the same shoes because when they turn on the TV the radio, etc. They see every ethnicity and place celebrated positively except for Africa and it's descendants.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
Did the chinese have to make chin-o-centric schools to become celebrated? Are african people unable to invest money or get bank loans to be able to open up restaurants? Did I say I didn't want to learn about african history and culture?
Nice straw man argument by the way. While we're at it, why don't you join the black panthers and go kill a honkey or two.
This is about bad parenting and people's inability to take responsibility for their actions.
Rantandreason 3 years ago
You are so stupid that I can't even formulate a response to that. Just, just shut up and go hit your head against a wall somewhere. In your case, that would actually improve your intelligence (you dumb person).
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
What you don't seem to get is that people are people. Coming up with some excuse that they need role models of curiculums based on histories most of them weren't even a part of is just covering up the fact their parents are too busy working 3 jobs or playing xbox and getting high to care about what their kids are doing.
Stop treating them like handicapped children, and treat them like everyone else.
Rantandreason 3 years ago
Treating them like handicapped children!? I'm one of them you imbecile. I know what the school system's about, I graduated last year. The only thing that kept me going were the positive black role models, past and present (dating as far back as Mentuhotep I in ancient egypt to Malcolm X). We had a large part in world history, and if black students are taught this at a young age, it will boost their confidence and set them up for success just like white students get. You wouldn't understand.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
If you think you need a role model of the same skin colour as you, you're very sad indeed. My biggest "role model" is chinese. You take wisdom from where it comes, and ignoring wisdom because of it's source is just ignorant.
I never needed role models to succeed. What I needed were parents that cared enough about my education to make sure I spent the time doing my homework and studying, and not getting high and playing xbox.
Rantandreason 3 years ago
Bad parenting is what is at fault here. The sooner the black community stops looking for excuses and comes to this realization, the sooner it will pull itself out of whatever funk it's in.
And for the record, I'm Canadian, not European, not white, not native american. I was born and raised in Canada. My history lessons consisted of ancient greeks and romans. Just because I didn't learn about "positive canadian role models" doesn't mean I get to have special treatment. Life is though suck it up
Rantandreason 3 years ago
And please tell me when is the last time you heard of Chinese History Month? Black history is celebrated FAR more than any other culture. You don't know enough to know that you don't know anything.
What you're saying is that everyone else isn't celebrating YOUR culture enough for you!
What about Carabana? When was the last time you saw a White Carabana?
Rantandreason 3 years ago
White Carabana? Well considering that Carabana isn't about Black people but about people from the Carribean, it's not a "Black thing" in the first place. There are lot of ethnicities involved with Caribbean culture. What you meant to say is "How about a North American Carabana". How about the Thanksgiving Parade - enough said.
irongiant20012001 3 years ago
Logic came from the Greeks? Afro (rather Afri-)centric education isn't soley about exemplifying extraordinary black folks--it's about the culture, the systems, the traditions, etc of the continent and it's peoples.
ZINCONETNG 3 years ago
"parents beaten and murdered" you need to study your history, some abs suffered at the hands of pedophile priests, but don't try and pretend that there was some kind of genocidal agenda.like the States did.I have nothing against our native people i'm just stating facts.
78hiwatts 3 years ago
If you think it's a matter of cause and effect then you must understand the nature of causality before you can change the effect.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of people do not understand the nature of causality. All they know is linear causality: partA affects partB affects partC. They do not perceive the non-linear aspect of causality: wholeA guides partA-Z, partA-Z create wholeA (non-linear duality).
And so, nothing will be fixed, merely re-arranged.
thinkofwhy 3 years ago
Jesus Christ!!! Why the hell are we modeling anything after what the States do?!! You've got to be f@#cking kidding me! Teach all the kids equally. It's not just black children dropping out of schools in Ontario, it's a rainbow of kids dropping out. The study of logic is the most powerful form of academic study known to humanity, who cares if it came from the Greeks. I hate how we Canadians are always trying to relate to the USA. Do you really think the USA gives a flying f@#ck about us?
jrBunny1979 3 years ago 2

78hiwatts 3 years ago
i agree with you on the hostess for the upper part, the lower part looks like a sofa, although probably a comfortable one
i dont mind black or any cultural belief school, who cares if they think its a good idea: good for them
gammabun 3 years ago
Oh yeah, totally. I mean it's not like aboriginal culture was totally ripped apart, children forcibly removed, forced to go to boarding schools, made to reject and feel a shamed of their culture, raped (literally) beaten, their parents beaten and murdered, barred from practicing their culture, and in the present totally neglected by social services in the half-assed reserves we let them have. Yeah, aboriginals got it sweet. Dumbass...

afrocentric historiography looks at world history from an african perspective, it doesnt just look at black history.
akkkoben 3 years ago
The kids are not dropping out because of ethnicity, they are dropping out because they have difficulty with the curriculum and they may live in conditions that is difficult to nurture education.
Instead of making an "afrocentric" school make schools and/or programs for all students finding difficulty in learning.

But without poor suffering blacks you would be out of a job, liberal.
akkkoben 3 years ago
no dumbfuck, why dont we just send you a million great supporting teacher and finally pass those certain people who wont pass any other way. No, I dont want my tax money being sent to certain people who don't want to study. Why dont i get the extra attention?

ok, i thought the reason why john tory lost the election was mostly because of his commitment to fund faith-based schools. so why are we so intent on doing this now when it's basically the same thing? No matter how many people say that it's also meant for white people, this black school idea is completely stupid.
angurandkrips 4 years ago
i dont think race has anything to do with the drop out rates... like some other people said , its socio-economic problems... we have lots of asian immigrants who come that can barely speak english and they still get their high school diploma... these new schools are a joke and set us back 50 years...
DutchSchultz87 4 years ago 3
If the premise of having a need for black schools is that there are so many drop-outs, shouldn't the focus simply be on setting up some kind of remedial school for kids who are failing? If most happen to black, well so be it.
pitcalco 4 years ago
I've seen stupid things but this just crosses the line. I'm actually scared for these kids. Imagine what white supremacists will do to these schools
powericed 4 years ago
Race based schools are problematic for multipule reasons; they circumvent the real problem regarding high black drop-out rates which is socio-poltical in origin; the school system is but one institution of a larger superstructure, two, it is undermining socio-political-cultural pluralism which is intergral to a multifarious society. The same reasoning applied to backs schools can be applied to any ethic group if one is to hold a consistant position.
Bassmaster86 4 years ago
this is a very stupid idea, we do not need to create a new publicly funded school to teach black only history, we could have a black only history course in schools, just like we have a french course
