This was the best album of 1974 hands down. Forget KISS, the Eagles, Deep Purple, the New York Dolls, Aerosmith and Foghat. Clancy's OTB was the only music that was really cookin' that year.
@mikedonn71 listen you dogmatic little shit! this is one hell of an album but let's not overlook radio city by big star, autobahn by kraftwerk, king crimson's red, kimono my house by sparks, the live velvet underground album, diamond dogs by bowie, and on and on. this is probably my fav record from that year tho...
A few of the times I've visited Florida, the one time I went to the Hawaiian Islands, and those two very lucky occasions I got to see Costa Rica; this was ALWAYS in my headphones. Just about every single day.
A retard gene driven stream of caterwauling, unharmonic guitar screeching more worthy of a transgendered trollop pushed into a gutter after swallowing cum from multiple wayward gentlemen enjoying a night of depraved abandon in seedy establishments on the outskirts of the Shining City on a Hill.
James!! Scuttle your way to me quickly now, man!
Bag that cat Nelly Young tonight. Here's a stout bat. Beat the daylights out of her!
Why can't old Neil write at least 1 more song like this? If I compare this album with his recent stuff I get depressed...it's really true that the capability to write song dies when you get 30 or 40
@cla114 I disagree. Not in Neil's case he still writes good songs and keeps going after like 45 years of releasing music. He's the only one from his generation that has had a consistent release of albums 95-98% of em great. I don't like his latest album but you know he'll follow it up with another great one. I really like fork in the road, all the songs are great on it.
Neil loves his Maj7ths and I love Neil. It's a blues song , I suppose but it so isn't.. I don't love blues as much as i adore listening to this.Favourite song ever. It's actually uplifting in that unique Neil Young way. It's cracked but perfect.Bessie Smith would have loved it.And Billie Holiday
I went with a friend to Morocco in 77 and stayed with a farmer in Ketama. He bought us a big bag of kif with our tea and we joyfully partook. But we had no sounds (before Ipods a mobiles). a while later the farmer returned and gave us an old cassette player with 2 tapes. Surreally, one was "on the beach" and the other "chungas revenge" by Zappa. we played em too death. Great albums.
@BelRiose2000. Course, we stayed 2 weeks and the farmer did bring us some Morrocan folk music, which was great as well. Those 2 albums though were digitally embossed on my brain forever after.
Love the cover...Cadillac Drove a Needle In to His Arm and into a ditch...Nixon Resigns on the newspaper headline....need a crowd of people, but can't face them from day to day...know what your talking about Neil
Never afraid to sing his real feelings, ole Neil was in the zone with this song. Thanks Neil for your great songs over the years! Some gold here and there has made the trip a little easier.
I remember finding this album used for $7 at a second hand shop before it was out on CD. It had a huge roach ash stuck to it. I thought it was hopeless but bought it anyway. A quick clean and it was like new.....what a fucking album!
That's stupid. Everyone get's older. But Neil Young's music will still be around long after He, You & I are long gone. And that's a really magical thing...
I'm am only 22 and i feel the same, It's because he's the best in transforming emotions into music. I think Neil and his music is something nostalgic for all of us.
@capodencia85 Sadly the drummer for Spinal Tap once asphyxiated on someone else's vomit. Unfortunately the police could not dust for vomit and felt the case was best left unsolved.
@roguenation lugubrious: mournful, dismal, or gloomy, especially in an affected, exaggerated, or unrelieved manner.(WEBSTER DICTIONARY)...just to save other inquisitive people from opening up another web page...lol
There is something magical about the first guitar solo. It pulls on something deep down in my soul that I honestly can say I have never felt from music before. The Cmaj7 in the chorus has got to be one of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard.
Not Neil's greatest album by far but certain very fine and relevant.
All my pictures are falling .. sort of the antithesis of Harvest with she got pictures on the wall they made me look up whereas this makes you look down. Hey whatever Neil asks I will do .
I really like this album as a whole, but when I get to this song and I know I've got Motion Pictures and Ambulance Blues just 'round the corner, I know I'm headed for tears.

@topsecretassassin Wow, that argument blew me away. You win, with your complex and well backed up ideas presented in cool and collected manner. Enjoy the rest of puberty, little 13 year old.
@topsecretassassin Yeah I see why you were arguing though. I mean, when someone seems aggressive, it's natural to want to defend yourself. The reason I was aggressive is you seemed aggressive. But it's all cool now. By the way, it was a Jon LaJoie song called I kill people. Search it.
