The timpani is simply a way to gradually slow the music to a stop.

I love this one along with the old Jeopardy! Think Music, 1960s 1984-1997 and Jeopardy! Think Music, 1998-2008, as I really like this theme with the trumpet doing the main theme (the 1998 one), as the only ones I would like are Jeopardy! as all two rock, as it's just the classic, ah, the good old days of 1960s 1984-1997 and 1998-2008, as I really like the only ones I would like are Jeopardy! I get irritated every time I hear the flat and out of tune trumpet player in this think music. The 1997 version with the solo piano was better. The trumpet sounds corny and out of place.

I feel that adding the trumpet to the think music made it seem like a modernized version of the original. But the music from the early 1997-1998 seasen was completely different. Loose the trumpet!!!!!
