  • You're flying through a thunderstorm, and at 2:30 you rise above the clouds.

  • This song hits me in the way no other has... I get goosebumps every time I listen to it.

  • It only nums the pain but never goes away, take it out on others note to yourself its wrong but the other side of you doesn't respond, so go ahead and do the damage and try to be ready for the consequences. unless HE takes YOU DOWN with HIM.

  • Do Katie's parents know of this song? I'm sure they'd love to hear it.

  • AHA its been bothering me. the very beginning of this is the beginning to straylight runs big shot.

  • i have tears in my eyes right now

  • @jason91093 Have you been drinking?

  • Every time I listen to this song, I somehow always think about the driver and what might have caused him to consume so much alcohol. Sure, he could have been just a drunk, but something has to happen in your life has to make you want to drink that much alcohol. There are very few who drink for the hell of it.

  • @coolbleachfan1 I read an article about it, apparently he had just broken up with a girlfriend of his and was depressed.

  • I cried multiple times throughout the album while I took a long car trip at night. One of the most beautiful albums ever composed.

  • This is the most cryptic song I have ever heard.

There are cryptic little clues everywhere... he counts to 7 and stops at 7 in the bridge. The girl on the cover is wearing clothes that cover everything but her head, which her mother was holding on the side of the road when the crash happened. He repeats "I love you so much" 12 times for the 12 people who condemned the man who killed her.

And I truly feel sorry for Martin Heidgen. It could have been anyone driving down that road.

  • @pyurmassacur you feel sorry for him? he was already a convicted drunk driver, yet he made the dumb ass decision to get drunk and drive again. he deserves to die in prison.

  • @moeller2010 Oh, really :/ I didn't know that, I thought he was just a regular guy without any previous criminal record. Even still I wouldn't wish that kind of burden on anyone. It's a different kind of burden to the one on the Flynn family but it's still a terrible burden to bear, one that will stay with him even after his time in prison.

  • This is one of my favorite songs ever. It hits me in a way not many songs can, and it does it every single time I listen to it.

  • Nobody is meant for this world.

  • @Adamkilb Bahahahahahaha!What are you,Post-Emo or whatever?Nobody is meant for this world?Hahahaha!

  • whats a rebridge?

  • the whole begining reminds me of "millstone" slowed down!

  • @AxelSayAnything Hands in the Sky (Big Shot) by Straylight Run, the first three seconds or whatever of this video is from that song.

  • this song is so awesome. even before i knew the meaning it touched me deeply, especially the bridge. the whole album is just lyrically brilliant. ironically ive listened to this while drinking and actually cried. it takes something very powerful to do that

  • 20 people are heartless ass holes or part of the drunk drivers against mothers group.

  • when he starts saying seven loves you so much sounds like he's saying satan loves you so much...

  • without this song......i would be dead...

  • goosebumps. everytime, still.

  • this song the poetic retelling of one of the most tragic events i've heard of up to this point. it's beautiful and i hope it influences people to avoid drinking and driving. i know i won't. i can't even move when i here "one'll love you.." to "seven loves you", it's so sad...

  • I never knew what this song was actually about. I just found out yesterday. I haven't stopped thinking about it. I think it destroyed a little piece of me. I can't even imagine the pain these poor families have to go through...every single day of their lives.

  • nytimes.com/2006/10/18/nyregion/18dwi.html

thats what this is about, dont talk shit.

  • before you comment shit read this, waht this video is about.

  • this is the only song that has actually given me goosebumps and actually made me feel mourning and sadness. Like othere songs can be sad but this song is soo fucking moving and incredible. musical perfection in my honest opinion

  • stop sounding so spooky....you guys are mourning and i understand.....but CHILDREN, at 2:40 its really sweet sexy and beautiful...so just go get COLD & HOLE...okay? IF not HOLE...get SOLO Americas SWeetheart...because FRANCIS and SURI and LOURDES and all the sweet babies LOVE US...

  • i never realized he's counting before he starts repeating the last part again, if anyone follows what im saying

  • god this song is so sad

  • i got chills when they said we'll miss you..

  • i will shit on your face

  • does the family know about this MOTHER FUCKING SONG ?

  • At the beginning, when Jesse screams "The signal interrupts" I get chills.

  • @WickedLife777 me too lol

  • @WickedLife777 same

  • does the family that this happened too know about this song ?

  • A drunk driver killed my sister a few days ago. She died of liver failure. She had a metal pole in her abdomen. I hope his liver explodes on him.

  • "ill die for you once but never again." That line has been haunting me eve since I heard it.

  • Even before I knew what this song was about it just sent like a numbing, trauma shiver down my spine.

And the verse at 2:27 to 3:00 is just a work of genius.

    This song is fucking intense

  • does the ms rebridge in the title mean millstone rebridge since the beginning sounds like the bridge of that song?

  • @Slawter81 No the very beginning is a song by Straylight Run. I believe it's called "Hands in the Sky" it's a really good song.

  • I don't usually get bothered by sad stories like this, but this got to me. And how the mpther supposedly held the decapitated head for ages... and of course, this song is amazing.

The counting to seven, I heard a theory that that was the devil and the seven deadly sins - cause he can 'dish them out' but he can't 'take it' himself, and the 'I should be laughing right now' bit, is about how even the devil feels remorse for the girl. Maybe a bit unlikely, but I like the idea.

  • @AllWordsAreDust I took it to mean the seven years of her life that she lived. iunno.

  • AMAZING, truly breath taking

  • man what song is in the first couple seconds of this song its killing me because i cant remember what song!!!!

  • @bradleymcfadden its big shot by straylight run. that song, just like this one, is amazing. :)

  • @Picses89 oh my gosh that you so much its been bugging me ever since i listened to this song hahah

  • this SHOULD be the official video!

  • I've been listening to this all day, I know it's supposed to be about a girl getting killed by a drunk driver but the part where he says "I love you so much, but do me a favor baby and don't reply cause I can dish it out but I can't take it" reminds me of something my ex boyfriend pretty much told me when we first broke up, hmm...

  • wow! no one cares

  • @Fallchemicalpark if you don't care, why are you replying to what I said?

  • just because i think this song is much deeper than that. sorry if i offended you.. seriously.

  • @Fallchemicalpark I know the song is much deeper than that, but at the same time, it just reminds me of something my ex told me, random thought blurb on youtube, and no offense taken really, I love Brand New and I think they one of the most talented bands out today, so it's all good

  • okay sorry just had a bad mood that day!

  • oh this was the wrong yt account, i'm fallchemicalpark too

  • @thaaeroprincess87 I've said similar things to my ex-girlfriends; which probably doesn't mean much to you, but what I'm trying to say is, I also understand the striking power of this lyric. It reminds me of at least a dozen things I've said to one ex in particular. So feel whatever you want, and get what you can out of Jesse's lyrics, 'is what I say.' Music, I think, is meant to be emotional, and not necessarily picked over, like a buffet, until all the best parts are consumed. So. I care.

  • @amluvmusic24 btw, before this is misconstrued, I don't think that anyone should ignore the terrible thing that this song is about. I'm just saying that it's okay to tack on a personal connotation that applies only to yourself.

  • @amluvmusic24

    THIS!!!

  • @amluvmusic24 thanks, lol, no it doesn't bother me if someone does or doesn't care but it just reminded me of the emotions I felt when he gave me that line about how he supposedly loved me but couldn't be with me

  • @musicfranc00 how is the video useless?

  • @musicfranc00

if you knew the story behind the song you'd know, the video makes sense, you moron.

  • the song is about him getting married then regretting it (isnt it?)

  • @Jesus00146 no that's more like The Quiet Things that no one ever knows... but anyway this song is about a little girl getting killed by a drunk driver while she was sitting in a limousine (based on a true story) hence why he said "he's volunteered to end your life"

  • uh no.

  • @ TeCop, you are so wrong, a drunk driver hit them. killed the limo driver as well

  • omg the vid mite not be offical but its amaxin

  • fuck you Martin R. Heidgen, you deserve to burn. this is one of the best brand new songs ever

  • @what342 Don't say that about what he lives with, the guilt. Was he really doing anything that wrong? Everyone has friends who just drive home tipsy that once. He just happened to be one of the rare cases. Don't get me wrong what happened was awful and he is accountable. But that's my point, its not enough? The guilt he probably lives with daily? not to mention he was convicted for murder, He is paying his due, his life is more awful than we could imagine, and he has no pity.

  • @TheMacroRevolution driving the wrong way down the road for 6 MILES.

thats not tipsy.tipsy can be okay.thats not when drunk driving accidents happen.

thats being so fucking drunk your amazed you even find your car.

    fuck that guy.

  • @htownsportslover I guess tipsy was the wrong choice of words but it's really irrelevant. My point is that the man is paying his due. In my opinion.. with the amount of suffering he currently experiences daily.

  • so sorry to sound stupid, but i can't really seem to grasp the meaning of the lyrics? theyre hard to unlock. can someone explain? thanks:l

  • Comment removed

  • @stupidlilheartz0 google katie flynn... that will explain

  • @stupidlilheartz0 the song is about katie flynn, She died in a drunk driving accident by their limo driver, she was decapitated and her mom was holding (as stated in the lyrics) she was 7 years old going to be the flower girl that day..

  • The limo driver wasn't responsible, it was another driver going the wrong way who was speeding and drunk.

  • This song make me cry when im drunk or hi

  • Great mash up

  • my father was the paramedic that responded to this call. the biggest tragedy he ever witnessed in his career. rip Katie Flynn. this is a beautiful song for you

  • @xweneedtoknowx kudos to your father... he must be a strong man... that shit was fucked

  • @xweneedtoknowx That must have been rough to go through for your father, but then again thats what the proffession is. I myself want to become a paramedic because it is an honourable thing to do, trying to save people in their hour of need.

  • dude is daron malakian in this!?

  • Holy Hell :O very nice vid!! i loved the part from 1:55 till 2:29

  • Brand New is just amazing. This song has such a great meaning and it sounds good. R.I.P. Katie Flynn.

  • i like the picture of micheal ( i think i spelled his name wrong) killing the devil at 5:08

  • nice vid

  • he was bored and tired of my laments,

said 'i died for you one time, but never again.'

seriously most powerful lyrics i heard in a long time.

  • 2:44 I swear I've been there...

  • awesome, but so sad.

  • beauty supreme.

Yeah, you were right about me.

But can I get myself out from underneath

This guilt that will crush me

and in the choir I saw our sad Messiah.

He was bored and tired of my laments.

Said, "I died for you one time, but never again"

    fucking genius

  • Why does Jesse know me so well? Lyrical genuis.

  • @staciiTamaraxxx lol that is the way i feel

  • @staciiTamaraxxx this song has nothing to do with you

  • It's your day to wed.

    We found your man

    He's drinking up

    He's all American

  • i'll die for you one time but never again

  • WHAT. why has yet another brand new ending been cut off. argh this really annoys me. i rated it 5 stars before it happened :(

  • freakin' YouTube man... It wasn't cut off by me...

  • @johnstangg we do not hold you accountable sir. Thanks for putting up this great song!

  • the begining of this whole video sounds like the music from "big shot" by straylight run... idk just pointin that out

  • That's because it is.

  • well Jesse Lacey and Brand New have been musical geniuses long before Straylight. and Nolan and Lacey have a history, so that may also play a part n any similarities. same is true with Adam Lazzara from Taking Back Sunday.

  • no i dont mean the actual song, its like the first 2 seconds of the whole video, but you are right about their similarities i know Jesse Lacey's and John Nolan's background a little bit

  • honestly, i just really love Brand New. I've checked out Straylight and they are ok at best, and Nolan's solo stuff after is nothing to be said of Anthony Green or even Lacey's acoustic solo tracks. I liked Nolan in Taking Back Sunday, but as a writer he doesn't stand up to the genius of Jesse or Adam. i'm extremely biased i guess lol.

  • yeah dude i honestly agree with that totally.

  • i did catch what you were talking about this time though lol. sorry, my mistake.

  • lol the rock but the changed over the years but there good

  • *seven year old. 'Scuse me.

    Also, fantastic video.

  • This song kills me.

I love it, even if it is about a 5 year old getting killed. >_>

  • I wonderif the family has head this song.....

  • Really good point - any feedback as to whether or not they've heard it?

  • Brand new are amazing this song is why I get depressed

  • i always automatically cry at 5:50.. fuck

this is and always will be my favorite band

  • i dont cry but it damn well gives me tingles..

  • man jesse lacey is so good i mean his lyrices are so AMAZING!!!!and i love this song but what its about is really something to think about DONT DRIVE DRUNK!!!im ognna go to see these guys in october cant fricken wait

  • siiiiick music video but,

i dont know what i think about this song,

i love it, but by knowing what the meaning behind it is

    makes me hate it..

  • why does that make you hate it

  • the fact that a poor innocent seven year old was decapitated in front of her mother at the hands on a moronic drunk driver doesnt conjure sorrowful thoughts for you? the fact that her mother was grasping her daughters head by the wreckage doesnt affect you? does it not invoke in you images of pain, hurt and hatred?

  • it definatley would for me dude

  • great song and kick ass video.good job dude

  • wats the pic of at 1:44

  • looks like a newborn

  • Drunk drivers that kill people should get the same thing done to them PERIOD! This Fucker that did this to that family should get his fucking head chopped the fuck off and die! Justice served!

  • that does not solve much...

  • That's called Justice Cock Smoker.

  • no.. that just makes you no better then him Dick Chin

  • im a huge brand new fan, and this is the only song i never listened to until now.

    what was i thinking.

  • yep same here

    wth were we thikning?

  • this song is so erie and amazing. if you like this listen to Sleeper 1972 by Manchester Orchestra

  • this is sooo sad. i love this song <3

  • this song is more epic than Homer's odyssey

  • I've read it in original Greek but totally agree :P

  • Im IMPRESSED zomg!!!11!1!1!1!1!

  • I get chills whenever I hear this song.

I love Brand New, and their talent is immense

  • Epic Song

  • This is one of the reasons I Brand New is my favorite band, ever.

  • i died for you one time...but never again

  • wheres the video where jesse explains it?? can someone send me the link please.

  • find it yet? if not, it should be the last video i favorited, right up front on my page.

  • yes i did find it.. thankyouu :)

  • this scares me knowing that the little girl's head was decapitated. so sad for the mother and the whole family.

  • epic

  • That solo made me cream my pants..xD

  • Comment removed

  • brand new just became one of my favorite bands

  • this song is epic indeed.

  • They were on the way or coming back from a wedding. A drunk driver hit the limo and the little girl died. She was 7. Hence the one'll love you so much, baby dont reply becauseI can dish it out bu tI can't take this (it goes up to 7) I LOVE when they say the messiah died for their sins once, but what the drunk driver did is UNFORGIVABLE. This song is truly powerful. And the instruments in the background with the violins. OMG. Its just so perfect . "yea, you're so free. Yea you were right about me

  • Fuck yes.

  • I love the guitar at 1:56. So intense..

  • this video was beautiful! very well done!

  • wait, what was this song about??

i'm sorry i didn't get the whole thing

  • It's about a very publicized limousine accident where a believe a little girl and maybe some other people died. A drunk driver hit them...

  • The Devil And Are Raging Inside Me!!!

    The best record ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brilliant

  • genius.

  • i prefer this brandnew than the ol'one

  • Cranfilr: The new stuff definitely takes a little getting used to, but you could see they were moving this direction from select songs on Deja.

  • honestly a few songs on your favorite weapon showed some signs

    no seatbelt song for example

  • such a powerful song, brand new are so amazing. I love all there songs they deserve so much more then views then they have...

  • I just keep playing the part at 2:30 til 3:00 over and over it is soo beautiful!!!

  • My favorite part by far haha...

  • Agreeeeed amazing contrast and good feel

  • such an emotional song.

  • well he says 7 three times, because it means 777..... meaning she went to heaven.

  • This song by brand new tells us of the girl who was on her way to the wedding and died tragically by a drunk driver running into the limousine she was in.

Like previously suggested by others when the ambulance came her mother was credling her head within her hands, as it had been decapitated, the girl was only seven, as suggest by jesse lacey singing "one will love you so much ..." through too seven.

Since this the family has been torn apart.

This should stop people from drink driving!

  • Really? Wow...I just thought the limousine was a comparison to her casket being taking down the aisle.

  • God, what a ridiculously sad situation. I just looked up the story. I seriously feel like crap right now. My god, that is just so freaking horrible.

  • I thought about it for days when i found it :(

  • No way! That's what this is really about?? I remember hearing about that. How sad.

  • When the girl got decapitated her head landed in her mothers lap... In the song he counts to 7, screaming Seven I love you so much... In the song "Seven" is that flower girl" When the ambulance came they found the woman cradling her daughters head in her arms....
