Grease pencil is amazing, but it will become a even more valuable modeling tool if the strokes can be converted into smooth splines with the option to specify the spline resolution. I can then use the Grease pencil to quickly sketch guide splines which after converting to meshes will become vertex or edge snapping guides for hard surface mesh modeling.
Right now I can convert the strokes to splines or paths, but the problem is that there are too many vertices defining the spline/path. If there is a feature that allows me to specify how many vertices to draw the spline, that would be awesome!
@weeliano, I know you posted this a few months back and I really haven't tested this script out for myself, but I though I would share. It seemed like it might be close to what you are talking about.
@phatcartoon yep I've checked out the surface sketching tool, its fantastic! and it's very close to what I want, but from the video demo, it doesn't appear to allow the user to convert to splines/path only. With this option, it will allow me to model objects from blueprints, especially hard surface objects like vehicles or exotic furniture. Thanks for the heads up though!
Was just telling a mate from FreezingMoon when he requested me some feedback to use grease pencil to mark the spots and I told him grease pencil sucks since the strokes only made sense from a camera angle. Seems it's all good now, great job!
Awesome preview video. :)
