you do have some nice pedals but, have you ever thought about rack gear like THE ELEVEN RACK or AXE-FX or EVENTIDE GTR-4000. less stuff to carry and some of them sound just like your pedals.

@afterthefox7 I did think about the AXE Fx before, but decided against it because I like manipulating a lot of effects live, and I do a lot of looping. I figured it I was going to still be using stompboxes, I needed an absolute one or the other, so I stay with stompboxes. The new AXE midi controller does look excellent.

Guitars are just a sound creation device, even a synth is useless unless it has something to trigger it. Ever heard Tom Morello, Mike Einziger, Matt Bellamy, Steve Vai?...should they only play traditional guitar pieces through a clean amp or perhaps stick to acoustics?

I wouldn't expect a keyboard player to play every instrument on the planet if they can get something similar out of their synth/sampler. It's what they're comfortable playing, same with me (and the OP I guess) and the guitar.

So doing such a thing would help me achieve keyboard synth sounds that I want without having to spend hours learning to play keyboard. It's a great alternative for composers that have a spark of inspiration that needs to be recorded quickly.

Well I play alot and I am building my pedal set. Pedals really are amazing. If you are skilled, then nothing wrong with building a huge rig. A big rig gives you more diversity on stage, it allows you to be a bit more creative.

I had about 7 pedals on a board when I toured in the 80's. Once on stage they started modulating and making music by themselves...they sounded a bit like like Howard Jones on LSD.
