gta4 runs better on windows7 64bit for me, so i was happy upgrading ;) only cons is that i had problems with some old games like thief gold(the dark project) to run ... but who cares about very old games on a new system ? :o that games "Release date(s)November 30, 1998" so i don't care ;) in gta i see like 5 fps more imo, maybe thats because i had an old messy xp 32 and now instead a clean installed win7 64bit;]

But i dont get 60 fps even close.

average - about 32. min - 18, max - 50

Oh yes, and i have 1280x1024 75Hz. all other settings r set to max.

well, i got a similar system but runs smoothly, about 50+ fps(drops 5-10fps whhile it's raining), all you have to do is to sacrifice view distance(as low as you can accept) and shadow density(1 or 2)

@glyoxal if you have 1066Mhz system memory and above you can run GTA at ALL MAX SETTINGS with average of 25-35fps framrate, you have to run it as -nomemrestrict in the command line of the GTA 4 shortcut. i did it and im running GTA 4 with system memory with no framerate drop!! GTA 4 is currently using 1.6GB to run the graphics. it thinks that system ram is video ram and uses it as video ram and 1066Mhz is all GTA 4 needs to keep a good framerate, go figure!

You can upgrade your psu very easily to like 600w for around 40$.. newegg is a great computer site to purchase computer related items. a gtx 260 with 216 cores would be good for you but it might be costly.. Again, check out newegg.

Yes, i think so. The 4870 is more powerful. But the 9800 is NOT a bad card.. Its very good. And can play GTA IV good. I wouldent recomend you to upgrade. the 9800 is good enough :)

GTX260 is betterh than 4870, but only new revision with 216SP, and yes radeon have GDDR5 memory, but only 256bit bus, and GTX260 - 448bit bus, so we can compare bandwith. radeons memory clock x 256, GTX260 memrocy clock x 448 = GTX will be better, i mean cca 20GB/s

Ur CPU & GPU is way too weak to cope with GTA 4. specially the gpu. U need to upgrade ur gpu. As for the CPU is concerned try to OC it to atleast 3.0ghz.. This will increase ur performance a lot. 95% CPU usage is very much normal for a dual core in gta 4.
