It's funny how the owner presses the bell and then also gives the treat to the cat, the cat doesn't even have to make the actual effort of ringing the bell to get treats! Seems that owner has been well trained...
@notveryathletic At the start of classical conditioning, you have to give the subject a general idea of what they have to do. ie. although the cat didn't ring the bell at first, it's a very good thing that they at least touched it.
Then, you make things more specific, so you teach the cat that making the bell ring is how they get their reward. That's why the owner rings the bell themselves. Finally the cat discovers how to ring the bell by pressing the button and hooray you're done.
