@degsy111 also what do you think they would have done? most wouldn't kill they may have a moral issue and it may have pissed the crowd if someone got killed
The only reason gov't is so big and overbearing is simply due to everyone asking that very same gov't to be involved in their otherwise commercial transactions and activities...and then people are surprised that gov't would go massively into debt as a result?
The way out of this is simple. Pay your own way, close your bank accounts, stop feeding gov't, stop asking gov't to solve your problems.
But nobody wants to do that when they are so addicted to their handouts
The country is going bankrupt like everyone else and instead all the kids can do is whine about not getting more freebies which is a part of the bankruptcy in the first place. The issue stems from people thinking that government is responsible for their futures. All they did was remove a cap and allow the universities to charge for services closer to what they feel it is worth. Dont like it then dont buy it, simple.
Governments will almost always lose in the debate of ideas. This is why they don't engage in them.Instead they obfuscate or ignore the most powerful honest ideas. They know violence. Violence and initiatory force is their preferred stage. They claim that they want to keep the peace despite never coming to the table for fair and honest debate. @jasongeorge60 We are fighting to destroy the capitalist system and create a new system based on equality for all! There was a similar mass uprising in France in 1968 which very nearly won in overthrowing the French government. Only a sell out by so called leaders - The French Communist Party derailled the revolution.
@jasongeorge60 Yes, the shops they smashed were the ones that are scamming the british public out of hundreds of billions of pounds worth of tax. One person threw a fire extinguisher and one person smashed charles' car. Don't jump to illogical conclusion and associate those two acts with the whole movement. If it was everyone thousands of extinguishers would have been thrown off buildings and charles' car would no longer resemble a car... It's a shame that I am having to explain this.
@timpetherick Those acts and many others are associated with the whole movement. Those act are all that the media have talked about since. Very little about tuition fees, just like these 7-8 pages of posts right here. Infact I'm the only person whos mentioned tuition fees out of 128 comments. How as any of this changed anything? It seems the original movement has been hijacked and once that happened the real cause was lost. Only the Government will have victory here.

@onwards67 The crowd don't look like they want to hurt the police to me. Every time i saw violence directed towards the police the police had initiated it.
I didnt see any police being kettled. I saw a bunch of arseholes taunting well restrained officers who should have been given carte blanche to whup some ass.

I think this is enough proof of how negative the process is and shows why we should have a different approach to people who want to protest (in this case about the way the banks have bankrupted society and enslaved us for generation to come.).
The students in the masks are cowards, What has attacking the police got to do with tuition fees? Its pathetic and sad and your message is completely lost. Its funny how these very same people using violence to express their views suddenly start crying like babies, and screaming police brutality when they get smacked up.
Remember you live in a democracy and it it was YOU who voted in this government after falling for all thier campaign lies. You only have yourselves to blame.
@jasongeorge60 WHY DON'T YOU FUCK OFF YOU COUNTER REVOLUTIONARY TORY BASTARD SCUMBAG! THIS IS JUST OF TASTE OF WHAT IS TO COME! REVOLUTION IS ON THE WAY!
@BurntOakTree Im not a Tory, infact I didn't vote in the last election as I saw the futility in it. I'm not a counter revolutionary, but if you really think smashing up buidings, throwing objects at police, wearing a mask makes you a revolutionary then you have much to learn. The fact you cant even engage in a debate says allot about you. But one question, once you've you've smashed the state and the sysytem on the 20th Dec what are your plans for the country?
@jasongeorge60 This "Democracy" has highjacked politics and is working for the good of a very small group of people while destroying our freedoms and the planet in general.
Witness how we work for the econony, not it for us. In reality it is our invention and we should be able to make it do the most good for the most people.
What I see in this video taken by a protester is one unit of police officers standing there telling people to stay back. Whilst having a bunch of masked morons screaming abuse at them, throwing paint, Sticks, Concrete and smoke bombs. Yet the police barely react at all let alone over react. Police have the same right to defend themselves as you do.
@jasongeorge60 Plus....The first student protest. Their were no riot police, no dogs, no horses. Yet the students still smashed up the millbank building attacked police and threw fire extinquishers off the roof top. So what provoked this?
@jasongeorge60 Millbank is Tory HQ. It's the Tories who are trying to divide and rule us. It's the Tories (backed up by cowardly Lib Dems) who are unnecessarily forcing us to cut public services. These protests aren't about smashing up public property, they aren't about attacking innocent people. The crowd kettling the police here could have set upon the police and had them restrained, they didn't. This is making a very good point.
@jasongeorge60 The police trapped people in parliament square for 5 and a half hours and then on westminster bridge for a further 2, more if you were at the back without food, water or toilets. If you tried to leave this kettle you were hit with batons. Is this right? Are you suprised that people are angry at the police. The police aren't hitting people because they are surrounded, if they had the line they would be beating people back, making them more angry.
@timpetherick I put myself through uni by working 2 jobs and with student loans. I was lucky enough to have all of my tuition paid for after means testing proved I couldn't afford to pay. I concidered this a privalige not a right, And if means testing said otherwise I would have got a student loan and gone to uni anyway.
@timpetherick I agree new fees are crazy, and many students will be in debt to the tune of 30K -40k by the time they are done. But as yet no one has explained to me how smashing the place up will change anything. I think you'll find that history shows this doesnt work.
@timpetherick Its a misconception that the poll tax riots changed anything. It was replaced with council tax and other stealth taxes. And this was because of political infighting rather than what happened on the streets.
I'm trying to view the video from a neutral stand point but we clearly see very different things.I support what the student protesting for what they believe in, but this mindless violence will achieve nothing. I dont support the actions of the students. The've lost my support.
@timpetherick The attack on prince charles car? The throwing of a fire extinquisher off the millbank roof at police which could have killed someone? Smashing up shops on oxford st? "Directed anger?" None of these people were trapped, they had free reign to do as they pleased and they chose violence.
@jasongeorge60 You REALLY think you live in a Democracy? Oh My God!
You live in the ILLUSION of a Democracy hidden within a Corporatocracy which probably is buried deep within some kind of a Plutocracy. You really think it would have made any difference which one of the Magician's choices was voted in?
These protests are a symptom of what is wrong and a distraction to the underlying cause. For that look to the Banks and the Monetary System (Fiat Currency and Usury) for the real cause.
@TheHolySpirit Finally someone talking some sense. No I dont think we live in a democracy. Thats why I didn't bother voting in the last election, voted Greens before that. I was justing trying to make a point. That people need to wake up, start thinking for themsleves. They vote expecting everything to change, but who ever gets into power follows the same plan, Then they protest and complain. So where does smashing up your own city fit into the plan for a revolution?
@jasongeorge60 I'm with you there. I don't agree with stuff being smashed up for no reason. Speaking of London, did you know that the Square Mile of London or The City of London Corporation It is not your / our city - it is privately held by The Crown (not to be confused with the Queen) and is a Sovereign state, like Vatican City. It is not part of England or The United Kingdom.
@TheHolySpirit Its interesting but dont believe everything you hear. There's allot of nonsense aswell. Search for it on google under the video option. Its in 2 parts.
the thing is within the 'students' we have a demographic that has grown up under the illusions that everything is a right, which should be paid for by everyone else.
University was once for those of a high intellect with the maturity to want to further their education. Those on the streets of London seemed to be just a mentally subnormal pack of chimpanzees with barely a brain cell or original thought between them.
@Lincsdan28 Everyone's a fucking philosepher aren't they! Don't like the protests and rioting... then do something about it... that's what the students did.
Just a hard working tax payer, who thinks his taxes could be better spent, than providing university education to every person that wants to do a "Media" course etc.
As for the Un-named student on the radio, protesting that University education is a basic human right...... Well, no. It isn't actually.
About fucking time the police were shown we wont take being treated like animals. Global eruption of equalizing behavior like this is needed to topple the fascist hold police states have on the streets. The streets belong to the people.
Respect & solidarity to the students.Hopefully, when we workers get involved next year, things will go up to a whole new level. Why should the people have to pay for the excesses of the super-rich..I've yet to hear an explanation Mr f-cking Cameron!
I feel disgusted to be british. These students are nothing but discusting vile animals. They should be ordered to pay back damages or expelled from there college. How could they call there self british when the deface a war memorial and attack a car with innocent people in it especially when they are royal. Just makes me sick.
what exactly are you kids fighting for? this just proves socialism on any level doesn't work. you should be fighting for true reform, not just for cheaper tuition but higher reliance on the state. fight the tyranny of the state, don't fight just to continue to be a slave to it.
People need to get organized and use these types of events to do something positive, like everyone focusing on good positive thoughts. It has been tested and proven to change our existence.
This will be happening more and more as people get wise to the tactics of the shock doctrine. The cops should join the students and both should go after the bastards who are pulling the strings.
To all the people defending the police, the police get hyped up in protest situations and go out looking for aggro, look at the all the footage of police lashing out at peaceful protesters, including women.
not so brave when the tables are turned, and the only thing that got hurt was their ego, unlike when the police get the upper hand then it's beatings all round regardless of age or gender.
@brokenminds13 Footage of them lashing out? Is this before or after they asked you to stay back 50 or 60 times? Twat mate, they were there to facilitate a peaceful protest but did you stick to the agreed route? I believe the answer to all the above is NO. There is an awful lot of footage of people throwing sticks, using poles and fences to throw at the Police. I ask you what would you have done differently if you have the bollocks to stand in their shoes?
What a bunch of idiots you are, can't even chant anything exciting, do you think those coppers have families to go to and their kids would like to go to uni, they are doing a job to keep thugs at bay and let the rest of us lead lives like normal human beings, imagine going to work and having metal railings thrown against you or abuse from the public, good wage but so are a lot of other people in a much quieter job
i think the best protest though is not to protest like this though - best to DOWN TOOLS, dont go to uni and dont go to work - thats the best - then the government will realise. If everyone does this en masse, so a student strike as oposed to a protest then this country will grind to a standstill and thats the best way to deal with this situation
You lot seem to have no clue as to what the Police do, why they do it or what you are protesting for! You want to get publicity & have your cause heard, so deface the 'cenotaph' and 'Nelson Column', attack the Royal family and nearly kill someone by throwing a fire extinguisher off of a roof. Then have the cheek to bitch and moan about apparent "excessive force" from the Police!? Do a bit of research on legal use of force! Nice work screwing it all up for the rest of us younger students.
What a bunch of immature pricks. Most of them don't even know what they are protesting about. A new funding system that's actually better than the current one.
You smash up our capital city, piss on Churchills statue and desecrate the Cenotaph and you have the cheek to want my taxes to fund you doing fu*k all for a few years for a mickey mouse degree course.
If more people around the world joined together against the police protecting the banks, corporate interests and the elite, instead of the common man (like they are supposed to) this would be a MUCH better world!
Too many immigrants for my liking,we should put price up too 100 grand a year for every immigrant that wants to learn in the UK. That would sort it out.
most of those students are cocky little cunts... like the prick with the nylon headscarf that his mum bought him from topman... I mean cmon you stupid cunts do something
WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU! WE KETTLED YOU!
you think just because you did nothing that police wouldnt try to screw you over? I wear head gear like that on the way to work cos of the cold so Id definitely wear it there. Do you expect those from Wikileaks to reveal their identity even though they have not stolen information the US would still punish them for there actions. Why dont you live in the real world all those telling people to unmask!
It's quite strange, I was at this blockade at around the same time but about 10 metres further down. You can see the fear in their eyes, I found this extremely unnerving knowing that they could panic at any second and just plow into the protestors trying to leave.
I think y'all should start protesting outside the houses of the politicians who fucked you. :-) Would be cool if something like that could be organized. As it is, the politicians could give two shits about this protest. They probably had a good laugh over it after they voted.
@ar4216 Would probably make a point to them. Especially as they couldn't care less about 30,000 people protesting against the rise just outside, however one window on car gets broken and they're throwing a hissy fit.
I agree with the comments, if you are so proud and believe in what you are doing they why hide who you are? The Police wear the face covering as protection as people were throwing flares and smoke bombs, the coverings are flame retardant. They were all wearing Shoulder numbers and some even name badges so clearly not hiding anything. I do agree, it does look cold! I am guessing this is why the Police used restrain in not enforcing taking off face covers. I wish you the best in Uni.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Who ever shot this video... Why don't you man up and grow a pair and remove the face scarf. If you did nothing wrong, then you have nothing to be afraid of.
@Lincsdan28 I did not participate in any of the criminal activity... I just would like to keep my anonymity as I will be going to university next year and wouldn't want any thing to be held against me... plus it was cold!
@WillsCallaghan I never accused anybody of criminal activity. Lots of other people there who didn't wear face scarfs, who don't mind the cold and believed in the cause.
If you believe in what you are protesting, stand up and be counted and remove anonymity. Otherwise it comes across to the public as load of louts out to cause trouble.
@Lincsdan28 And I hope you are going to call for all police to be transparent, remove their mask and display their numbers or are you one of the mind controlled zombies who believes violence is only right when the state is dishing it out.
``It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong.''
Yeah them guys with their blue helmets and masks covering their faces can only mean they were looking for trouble...not to mention the wepons they are carrying full view.
Solidarity from Melbourne, Australia. Funny how the police are quiet and humble when the tables are turned on them. The cops are school bullies trained to be right wing attack dogs.
It's an interesting dynamic though. The crowd was obviously riled up and yet they remained largely subservient. They could have easily killed the police, they far outnumbered them, and yet they stood back. The police on the other hand, the defenders of the state, will not hesitate to use force given the chance. They are taught to use force. But average people will refuse, even when they have the clear upper hand. I'm afraid these protests will always be largely ineffectual. Nothing will change.
By the way, I'm not saying I think they should have killed those cops. It would have been a senseless murder. Nothing good would have been gained by doing that. I respect the people standing up and wanting to be heard though. But nothing was gained from this protest- the politicians still fucked the students and it wasn't a tough decision for them. Maybe the students should start protesting outside the houses of the politicians?

@jasongeorge60 - this government has no mandate
TheBlagsta 1 year ago
@TheBlagsta Your right.....So whats your point?
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
The students in the masks are cowards, What has attacking the police got to do with tuition fees? Its pathetic and sad and your message is completely lost. Its funny how these very same people using violence to express their views suddenly start crying like babies, and screaming police brutality when they get smacked up.
Remember you live in a democracy and it it was YOU who voted in this government after falling for all thier campaign lies. You only have yourselves to blame.
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 WHY DON'T YOU FUCK OFF YOU COUNTER REVOLUTIONARY TORY BASTARD SCUMBAG! THIS IS JUST OF TASTE OF WHAT IS TO COME! REVOLUTION IS ON THE WAY!
BurntOakTree 1 year ago
@BurntOakTree Im not a Tory, infact I didn't vote in the last election as I saw the futility in it. I'm not a counter revolutionary, but if you really think smashing up buidings, throwing objects at police, wearing a mask makes you a revolutionary then you have much to learn. The fact you cant even engage in a debate says allot about you. But one question, once you've you've smashed the state and the sysytem on the 20th Dec what are your plans for the country?
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 This "Democracy" has highjacked politics and is working for the good of a very small group of people while destroying our freedoms and the planet in general.
Witness how we work for the econony, not it for us. In reality it is our invention and we should be able to make it do the most good for the most people.
or do you love your chains?
lmjhoney 1 year ago
@lmjhoney I agree with you on several points. But do you think any of this violence will really change anything?
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 what violence? this video in effect proves that whenever there is violence the police incite it
timpetherick 1 year ago
@timpetherick
24 secs....Officer is hit by a stick.
1:06 Same officer is hit by a tin of paint.
1:26 Same office is hit by a smoke bomb.
What I see in this video taken by a protester is one unit of police officers standing there telling people to stay back. Whilst having a bunch of masked morons screaming abuse at them, throwing paint, Sticks, Concrete and smoke bombs. Yet the police barely react at all let alone over react. Police have the same right to defend themselves as you do.
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 Plus....The first student protest. Their were no riot police, no dogs, no horses. Yet the students still smashed up the millbank building attacked police and threw fire extinquishers off the roof top. So what provoked this?
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 The milbank building is the headquarters of the tories, this was not mindless violence, it was directed anger.
timpetherick 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 Millbank is Tory HQ. It's the Tories who are trying to divide and rule us. It's the Tories (backed up by cowardly Lib Dems) who are unnecessarily forcing us to cut public services. These protests aren't about smashing up public property, they aren't about attacking innocent people. The crowd kettling the police here could have set upon the police and had them restrained, they didn't. This is making a very good point.
JoeChapmanUK 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 The police trapped people in parliament square for 5 and a half hours and then on westminster bridge for a further 2, more if you were at the back without food, water or toilets. If you tried to leave this kettle you were hit with batons. Is this right? Are you suprised that people are angry at the police. The police aren't hitting people because they are surrounded, if they had the line they would be beating people back, making them more angry.
timpetherick 1 year ago
@timpetherick I put myself through uni by working 2 jobs and with student loans. I was lucky enough to have all of my tuition paid for after means testing proved I couldn't afford to pay. I concidered this a privalige not a right, And if means testing said otherwise I would have got a student loan and gone to uni anyway.
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@timpetherick I agree new fees are crazy, and many students will be in debt to the tune of 30K -40k by the time they are done. But as yet no one has explained to me how smashing the place up will change anything. I think you'll find that history shows this doesnt work.
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 Poll tax?
Besides, the real damage and violence only happened when the police trapped everyone in parliament square and then hit people trying to get out.
timpetherick 1 year ago
@timpetherick Its a misconception that the poll tax riots changed anything. It was replaced with council tax and other stealth taxes. And this was because of political infighting rather than what happened on the streets.
I'm trying to view the video from a neutral stand point but we clearly see very different things.I support what the student protesting for what they believe in, but this mindless violence will achieve nothing. I dont support the actions of the students. The've lost my support.
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 As I said the people were trapped, what do you expect?
timpetherick 1 year ago
@timpetherick The attack on prince charles car? The throwing of a fire extinquisher off the millbank roof at police which could have killed someone? Smashing up shops on oxford st? "Directed anger?" None of these people were trapped, they had free reign to do as they pleased and they chose violence.
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 - violence, lol. That's not violence. Shock and awe Iraq - that's violence.
TheBlagsta 1 year ago
@TheBlagsta Lol...then I guess police cant be accused of using violence until they unlease their B52 Bomber.
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 - the poll tax was got rid of not really because of the riot (although it helped) but because of the mass campaign of non-payment.
TheBlagsta 1 year ago
@TheBlagsta Very true, agree 100%
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 You REALLY think you live in a Democracy? Oh My God!
You live in the ILLUSION of a Democracy hidden within a Corporatocracy which probably is buried deep within some kind of a Plutocracy. You really think it would have made any difference which one of the Magician's choices was voted in?
These protests are a symptom of what is wrong and a distraction to the underlying cause. For that look to the Banks and the Monetary System (Fiat Currency and Usury) for the real cause.
TheHolySpirit 1 year ago
@TheHolySpirit Finally someone talking some sense. No I dont think we live in a democracy. Thats why I didn't bother voting in the last election, voted Greens before that. I was justing trying to make a point. That people need to wake up, start thinking for themsleves. They vote expecting everything to change, but who ever gets into power follows the same plan, Then they protest and complain. So where does smashing up your own city fit into the plan for a revolution?
jasongeorge60 1 year ago
@jasongeorge60 I'm with you there. I don't agree with stuff being smashed up for no reason. Speaking of London, did you know that the Square Mile of London or The City of London Corporation It is not your / our city - it is privately held by The Crown (not to be confused with the Queen) and is a Sovereign state, like Vatican City. It is not part of England or The United Kingdom.

@Lincsdan28 Fuck you counter revolutionary scumbag! You Tory scum will pay! We will be back on the streets in even greater numbers soon!
BurntOakTree 1 year ago
the thing is within the 'students' we have a demographic that has grown up under the illusions that everything is a right, which should be paid for by everyone else.
University was once for those of a high intellect with the maturity to want to further their education. Those on the streets of London seemed to be just a mentally subnormal pack of chimpanzees with barely a brain cell or original thought between them.
Lincsdan28 1 year ago
@Lincsdan28 Everyone's a fucking philosepher aren't they! Don't like the protests and rioting... then do something about it... that's what the students did.

@lmjhoney Nope...
Just a hard working tax payer, who thinks his taxes could be better spent, than providing university education to every person that wants to do a "Media" course etc.
As for the Un-named student on the radio, protesting that University education is a basic human right...... Well, no. It isn't actually.

Always good to see the thugs humiliated.
brokenminds13 1 year ago 5
@brokenminds13 Footage of them lashing out? Is this before or after they asked you to stay back 50 or 60 times? Twat mate, they were there to facilitate a peaceful protest but did you stick to the agreed route? I believe the answer to all the above is NO. There is an awful lot of footage of people throwing sticks, using poles and fences to throw at the Police. I ask you what would you have done differently if you have the bollocks to stand in their shoes?
frings1989 1 year ago
What a bunch of idiots you are, can't even chant anything exciting, do you think those coppers have families to go to and their kids would like to go to uni, they are doing a job to keep thugs at bay and let the rest of us lead lives like normal human beings, imagine going to work and having metal railings thrown against you or abuse from the public, good wage but so are a lot of other people in a much quieter job

Nice work screwing it all up for the rest of us younger students.

spanishmike2003 1 year ago 10
It's quite strange, I was at this blockade at around the same time but about 10 metres further down. You can see the fear in their eyes, I found this extremely unnerving knowing that they could panic at any second and just plow into the protestors trying to leave.
conor2020 1 year ago 2
@conor2020
I think y'all should start protesting outside the houses of the politicians who fucked you. :-) Would be cool if something like that could be organized. As it is, the politicians could give two shits about this protest. They probably had a good laugh over it after they voted.
ar4216 1 year ago 3
@ar4216 Would probably make a point to them. Especially as they couldn't care less about 30,000 people protesting against the rise just outside, however one window on car gets broken and they're throwing a hissy fit.

NWOPL 1 year ago
I agree with the comments, if you are so proud and believe in what you are doing they why hide who you are? The Police wear the face covering as protection as people were throwing flares and smoke bombs, the coverings are flame retardant. They were all wearing Shoulder numbers and some even name badges so clearly not hiding anything. I do agree, it does look cold! I am guessing this is why the Police used restrain in not enforcing taking off face covers. I wish you the best in Uni.

Solidarity from Melbourne, Australia. Funny how the police are quiet and humble when the tables are turned on them. The cops are school bullies trained to be right wing attack dogs.
victorbarovsky 1 year ago 16
It's an interesting dynamic though. The crowd was obviously riled up and yet they remained largely subservient. They could have easily killed the police, they far outnumbered them, and yet they stood back. The police on the other hand, the defenders of the state, will not hesitate to use force given the chance. They are taught to use force. But average people will refuse, even when they have the clear upper hand. I'm afraid these protests will always be largely ineffectual. Nothing will change.
ar4216 1 year ago
By the way, I'm not saying I think they should have killed those cops. It would have been a senseless murder. Nothing good would have been gained by doing that. I respect the people standing up and wanting to be heard though. But nothing was gained from this protest- the politicians still fucked the students and it wasn't a tough decision for them. Maybe the students should start protesting outside the houses of the politicians?
