@drummer083, the way sampling works is that the record company has to get permission to use the sample and the the band being sampled gets a royalty. any rappers who don't do this aren't getting any money from what they release either. i agree with you though that people shouldn't be able to take music and make it worse, but sampling really is an art and when not abused, and done correctly can be something completely new and different from the original. ever heard of j dilla? or 9th wonder?

I blame the parents for just not showing this type of music to their children. My Dad did, helped me expand my mind. Hip-hop is my life, but I only really began to appreciate hip-hop when I began to listen to this type of music. And I ain't talking about 50 cent, souljah boy, or shit like that. I'm talking Jay Dilla, Pete Rock, Wu-Tang Clan. So before you go bashing hip-hop, remember that there are talented hip-hop artists who also are struggling to survive.

@MrKurtz1000 same with me. u cant forget gangstarr though . when i was abt 6 ,my dad showed me gangstarr-just to get a rep , and other songs from the late 80's - early 90's. before i knew it , i was begging to find out where they got the ideas of their beats . so then i begin listening to even more classics , such as al green, teddy , barry white , and now i'm making my own rap beats wit songs like these or classic spanish music . real hip hop cant die wit all of the talented underground rappers

The best material gift i ever got was an uncle dying and leaving me hundreds of 8 tracks, vinyls, and cassettes. this bs on the radio these days will NEVER EVER COME CLOSE TO WHAT MUSIC IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT: REAL LIFE SHIT.
