This is straight up Brooklyn, NY disco/funk baby!! Frankie Crocker used to play this song on WBLS back in the day. They used to play this at Club Leviticus in NYC and they played this at Empire Roller Rink on Empire Blvd. I would be on the floor soaked.
B.T. Express peaked with this LP in late summer of '75 which took them into 1976. "Peace pipe" was the cut that got Club play, and "Discotizer" created an early Buzz. Can't forget "Give it what you've got"!
@rickydfcc77 Do you remember a record they made probably in '77-'78...I don't know the name of it but I remember some of the chorus."Knock on wood...beat your chest....gimme 5....stomp your feet and do the freak"
@PumaDown I seem to remember an album called "Energy to burn" and another LP with "Shout it out" before the "1980" LP. When they left Scepter/Roadshow records they seemed to leave their mojo there too.
If you arent from the the WINDY,,then you will never truly appreciate the song!!! its much much more then music!!!....IT WAS PART OF A MOVEMENT !!!!...Ware house, UNDERGROUND. tHE bOX..LAMARIAGE..ETC..ETC !!
Chicago house music reintroduced alot of forgotten musicians back into ths spot light. New York may have come up with the ingredients, but Chicago put it together through basement and underground parties. Then it hit the mainstream.
B.T. Epress, (Brooklyn Tranist Express), Brooklyn, in the house. sorry Chi Town, these boys and (girl) are from New York! 70's music jams! Rock to the beat!
That maybe true about it being reintroduced in Chicago, but still it was originated in New York City. Without the original, you can't have a carbon copy or duplication. Disco was born in New York City. We had Studio 54 and the Paradise Garage. Not to take away from the other wonderful clubs in Chicago, New Jersey or DC. But people (celebs) from all over would come to Studio and Paradise because of the great disco music New York played. First there was Disco and then House music.
@reddvelvet I agree New York was the birth place for disco but, Chicago was the birth place for House music in which Disco paved the way for House Music to exist.
@peachesncreamme Could someone please explain the difference between Disco, House, and Deep House? I grew up around the birthplace (Westside of Chicago) where DJs originated the mixing of this sound. We have plenty of spirited debate about what music is what. Often, back in the day, DJs would mesh all these sounds together, which I think, leads to the confusion...I would think that Disco is the 1st cousin of Deep House, making them interchangeable. Would you care to expound on the topic?
@tphoyas Not on here to "debate'" with anyone. But I agree and disagree. "House" music did not originate on the westside of Chicago; brief history of the Chicago house sound. Disco (in which this happens to be) is the underlying foundation for house music. Frankie Knuckles started in the 70's in New York along with Robert Williams (the owner of the original Warehouse and US studio's which later on became the Music Box). 1977 the Warehouse has born.
@tphoyas A lot of people leave out one important factor in the Chicago House Sound and that is Robert Williams. In fact, he IS the foundation of Chicago House music. He's from the west side nor the south side, He's from New York.

Although BT Express already had two #1 R&B hits with "Express" and "Do It ('Til You're Satisfied)", this song is perhaps their funkiest that they ever recorded. It ended up being a #5 R&B hit and a Top 40 Pop hit in 1975.
Anybody remember Kashif? He started out in this group. I think his contributions showed up when Septer Records (on which this album was recorded for) went out of business and Columbia Records picked them up.
