  • I just had a weird thought; peepers would be absolutely terrifying to hear if you had never heard them before.

  • awesome...love it! helps me to relax any time of day. thanks

  • staten island? I didnt know spring peepers lived there! awesome! I used to find garter snakes, redback salamanders, bullfrogs, painted turtles, chorus frogs, italian wall lizards, watersnakes, etc on staten island. in great kills. also in the greenbelt. may I ask what other frog species live on SI?

  • this makes me sleepy.

  • You know it's finally spring when you hear these guys. It's truly a welcomed sound especially after a long cold winter

  • Spring peepers are wonderful. They can throw their voices, too, so that predators can't find them.

  • wow this is exacltly what i hear by my church in their pond.are they little tree frogs?

  • haha. Muskoka agrees Very loud like ours

  • i live next to a vernal pool...and many nights they are SO SO SO very loud... i don't mind them though, nice night sounds

  • wow this is on staten island i live there what part

  • Thanks so much for this post. I use it every year when I do a school presentation on amphibians and reptiles--I'll be using it this Wednesday. The kids are usually very suprised to find out that it's frogs, not crickets.

  • Reminds me of being at my cabin up in the aderondacks.

  • I really loved it, I just moved to Alaska from Missouri and will miss the peepers so very much!!!

  • Sounds like the african rain stick

  • Amazing!

There are no longer frogs here. :(

  • 90 decibels scream.

  • i really like it

    congrats i am almost asleep

  • This takes me back to my time in Michigan..thank you

  • I love this video. Good stuff. =)

  • My neighbors kids brought two home. I only hear two loud ones. It's too cute just to hear two of them . I have a feeling the parents mom will be setting them free tomorrow morning!

  • I was up in Westchester NY trying to get this today.. they weren't out or it was too early in the evening to get this intensity...Thanks!

  • nice, i'm in NH and use to fall asleep to this in the summer. they are out now in nh! 2 days ago. get rid of the cars!!

  • I am a country girl living in the city. I am so glad to hear the peepers even if on the net. This reminds me of the happiest times I spent growing up in the country. Thank you.

  • I used to write the date down every year when we first heard them in Eastern MA...1/2 way from Boston to Cape Cod, for location...anyway, it was always around March 26, although it fluctuated, sometimes wildly .

I love them, they always remind me of where I came from. I live in SoCal now, and the only way to hear the peepers is though the internet, the blessed internet.

  • Originally from RI, now in SoCal as well.

  • I love the sound of peepers, We get them right near the house all the time, I can not wait until spring for them to peep, it is so relaxing. Thank you,

by the for those that do not know, they are not crickets they tiny frogs

  • @aniwaya19 Yes indeed! We have a farm out here, and the peepers are just like these guys,we love 'em!

  • Whipkeys, to me it is a huge sign of spring in the air :) .. what is amazing you hear them loud and clear and think your right next to one, but they are so tiny that they are very hard to find lol. but the sounds is so sweet. it is hard a tiny frog can make such noise. LOL have a great day

  • Thank you so much!!! its odd how many wonderful memories this post brings back. Duensburg, NY

  • not crickets.... little frogs lol

  • Wow! These animals are awesome, I was traveling and when night came it was the same with the little difference I was in Colombia and they sang, a little loud but beautiful. It's unbelievable how the truck made them stop singing, personally I'd rather fiel instead city and its stressing sounds. This video is amazing, please do not delete it, I like to remember my wonderful time in the little town of Colombia near Tabio.

  • Awwesome... this sound takes me back ta my childhood in Ro Dyland. The swamp acrawss the street was fulla these peepas. You stotted hearin these and you knew the wawm weatha was just aroun' the cawna!

But seriously, thanks for posting, "streetsNY". Well recorded audio!! The truck didn't scare away one brave lil "peepa". haha

  • funny!

  • i here these things all the time in the spring

  • it's the best of all i heard. thank you.

  • That's so cool they all stopped when they heard the truck.

It sucks the world is being takenover by these loud vehicles. :/

  • I agree with you! We could all use more peace and quiet and relaxing sounds such as these. I don't like loud vehicles either! This is an awesome video!

  • again, these are not crickets, these are a small frog species usually referred to as "spring peepers" (Pseudacris crucifer).

  • seriusly lol.

  • This is awesome...we used to live in a place where the peepers come out in the spring...we moved about 15 miles away, but no peepers.

I will play this often. Thank you! Come on Spring!

  • Even the cars in the background remind me of where i used to live and just listen to the peepers for hours on end... loving it! Saving it to bookmarks, thanks for the video/sound!

  • I love the sound of peepers!! Hope spring comes soon so I can hear them in my yard again

  • it's kind of like that here where I live, with less crickets and cars, and with 100000000 more birds! ;)

  • Hmmmm. We shall soon be having a similier sound here. The sound of spring ,can't waitTthey shut down some nearby roads as he salimanders travel from woodland pool to pool.Who'd a thunk Nj was such a wilderness.

  • Thanks for sharing this. Now I can listen to

them in the dead of winter! We have them here

    in NW Massachusetts!

  • this is scary not relaxing lol

  • I least I know how to scare you now.

  • lol :p

  • @DyckmanCity yeah it's totaly xD

  • @DyckmanCity its loud lol.

  • like it. I'm going to use for my flash show if thats ok. I'll give you credit.

  • No problem. Thanks.

  • Actually its frogs. The species is called Spring Peepers. They are not very big but there are so many of them. No crickets can make such a loud noise and crickets do more sing in summer when its hot. Spring peepers do sing in spring also :D

  • Thanks for correcting us.

  • Delivered as advertised! Finally!

Nothing but the sound of crickets. Awesome.

All other vids, some dumb kid decides someone want to hear his voice tells the time, or some walking sounds of man made boots, or some other crap.

Here, except the passing by car once a while, nothing but loud crickets and night.

    Perfect!

Now every time someone come to me and disturbs me while I'm doing something and start talking crap I dun wanna hear I'm pulling this out of my favorites and crank full volume.

  • LAWL

  • hell yea
