Elton John has clearly stated that he does not believe in taking the term "mariage' from opposite-sex unions. A civil partnership means same-sex union. Marriage means opposite-sex union. What's the problem???

The difference is that one is for opposite-sex partnerships and the other for same-sex partnerships. Homosexuals call themselves 'gay.' It's because they are DIFFERENT from heterosexuals, or "straights." Therefore, legal couple partnerships are also called something different based on the type of partnership .If the word, "gay" is O.K., then why not civil unions?
