to comment on the introduction above- I don't recall any Voyage episode about 'pollution of natural resources'-and I've seen all the episodes-although it has been a long time. The show was off the air by the time the politically correct 70s got underway.
This theme was composed by Paul Sawtell, who scored the original film "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" starring Walter Pidgeon, Robert Sterling, Joan Fontaine and Barbara Eden. Sawtell also scored the original film version of "The Fly" that starred David Hedison (a.k.a., Al Hedison).
The first Nuclear Submarine show on tv?. Only just.
Gerry Anderson's aquatic puppet series "Stingray" aired in the UK just three weeks after VTTBOTS debut stateside. First run syndication for "Stingray" in the US began in January 1965.
Both series were obviously picking up on the positive response to the earlier VTTBOTS film. Marine action was the hot new thing. Stingray to it's credit started pre-production before the VTTBOTS spin off series, and was in colour from the start
Remember watching this show with my grandmother in her bedroom i'd say around 1964. She lived with us back then and loved her programs, all we had were 4 channels back then.
@whiskeyify hedison didnt want to do the series he thought the part of captain crane was too one dimensional [ he did the submarine movie the enemy below] but when he heard richard basehart was going to do it he decieded to do it then they sent him to the 4th dimension in an episode
In the French version (Season 3 and 4), we have only the music (no voice over saying "Voyage to the bottom of the sea") at the opening. The translation is well done (done here in Montreal) but not available on Season 1 and 2. But I remember watching Season 1 and 2 in French (a long time ago, I know).
one of my favorite programs back them...... there was something about that submarine bleep...... loved the time tunnel as well, and f troop etc, etc.... thank you for the memories..
Even as a little girl, I remember how gorgeous David Hedison was.

Thanks! I had to see this one more time. It wasn't as cheap looking as I thought it would be. Not bad at all, really.

Being an ex-Navy man this was one of my favorites...I especially liked the friendship between the capt and the admiral.
