  • 11. Bill Sykes in Oliver was always a scary role.

    10. T-1000 is just creepy! O_O

    9. Annie Wilkes is a fangirl gone mad.

    8. Hannibal Lecter is just CREEPY...and he's trying to kill off a bunch of people to get to one person.

    7. Alex is just PSYCHOTIC. I mean he does all these disgusting things to other people.

    6. Norman Bates is a perfect example of the creepy stalker stereotype (think the shower scene everyone parodies.) Psycho and all Alfred Hitchcock films are classics.

  • Does anybody know the name of the song that plays at the countdown?

  • @gentleEvan2 are you saying you've never watched pirates of the carribean 3?

  • @AgentSmithIsAnElf LOL well I'm guessing by that question you ask me that's where it's from. Man this been a long time sense I watched that movie. Thanks.

  • @AgentSmithIsAnElf But really if you know the name please tell me

  • @gentleEvan2 that's Davy Jones' theme, dunno what it's called but you can just google or search for it on youtube.

  • I am probably a minority on this, but WHERE THE HELL IS MR. FUCKING BLONDE?!? He was really scary in how he can switch from regular wise guy to a fucking psycho who tourtures cops because "it amuses him" I'm sorry, maybe he's a 12 spot or something, but he has to be on some list like this!

  • am the guy from The Silence of the Lambs was real :S

no not Hannibal... just look for top ten serial killers or something

  • @ELUMsulp Ed Gein.

  • why the heck is hans beckart from M not in here

  • what movie are the stairs from

  • What's the theme he uses in this one?

  • @SRFriso94 I believe that's the track "Davey Jones" from Pirates of the Carribbean Dead Man's Chest

  • The KHAN! bit made me lol so hard.

  • Maybe he should review the '98 Psycho movie and make it an Old-ish vs New-ish, like he did with The Haunting.

  • @SSJPrime pointless the old wins by far

  • I would've put The Operative from Serenity on here

  • Where's the music in the countdown scenes from?

  • okay... what is that song?!??!! You know, at the beginning? The little tune?

  • @sandmanhardstyle pirates of the caribbean ring a bell? teh music box..

  • The photo's at the start are all doing Kubrick stares.

  • Oliver Reed's fake cockney accent? He was from London so I guess he did a good job of faking it :s

  • Imagine all of them locked up in a cabin...

  • I never identified with Alex. The only character in 'A Clockwork Orange' that I even remotely relate to is the prison chaplain and that's only because he opposes the government's anti-freewill agenda.

  • "He's a savage beast, but he listens to Beethoven". I don't understand this point. What does he mean by "but"? Does he think that... somehow... if someone listens to classical music that means he is... good? Well... Hannibal Lecter listened to Bach... fuck, Hitler listened to Wagner, Goebbels listened to Beethoven... and... so?

  • Are you The Nostalgia Critic? Did you make this video?

  • @Kousaburo *ahem* read description...

  • Eddie Quist from the Howling

  • Blake from Glengarry Glen Ross

Dr. Edward Pretorius from From Beyond

Capt. Rhodes from Day of the Dead

Jaws from the James Bond franchise

Martha Beck from the Honeymoon Killers

  • i fucking Love Alex

  • i saw the remake for Psycho and i hated it. i saw the original first and is it wrong of me to say i found Anthony Perkins attractive?

  • He forgot lord voldemort. Now he was scary.

  • @Andyryan1994 No. No, he wasn't.

Well the film version, at least.

I always thought Ralph Fiennes butchered the role. He spoke funnily, he looked funny, he moved funnily. He wasn't intimidating in the slightest and Voldemort was A LOT SCARIER in the books.

  • I don't know why.....but I've taken a strange liking to Alex from A Clockwork Orange.

  • i never thought of the joker but now hes put it there i actually get it " whyyy sooo serious?" >:)

  • Why would anyone say that Hannibal is a bad movie i watched it many times and i loved it please explain to me why it is bad

  • ANNIE WILKES!!! That bitch scares the hell out of me

  • Anyone else notice the pirates of the carribean music at the beginning.

  • Annie Wilkes is by far one of my favorite villains of all time. She's just the epitome of a crazed, obsessive fangirl.

  • I found T-1000 cooler and scarier than the T-x from T3

  • I honestly thought that Lecter was sort of scary in Silence of the Lambs. Mostly because of not only the way he talks but because of how he seemed one step ahead of both the authorities and somewhat Buffalo Bill even

  • Did you see 'Manhunter'? Makes 'Red Dragon' look like 'Blue's Clues'! No contest!

  • im sory for saying this but dosent alex kinda sound like light yagami from death note

  • @LIUKANG02

It's more like Yagami sounds like him. Remember the movie came out in 1971 and the book came out even before. Way before Death Note was ever thought of...

  • fly away little NC, fly fly.

  • My God, has it really been a YEAR since this review?! I feel so...OLD ;A;

  • Did you know Heath Ledger based his joker on Alex Delarge?

  • @NormanBatesRocks911 You serious? No wonder he's such a poetic badass

  • @rockinjoker07 i thought that was sooo cool!

  • @NormanBatesRocks911 R U BEING SRS?

  • @culchiecorner yep I thought that that was soo cool!

  • KHAAAAAAAN!!!

  • i hate how nostagia critic spoils the video by show pics and clips of his top roles he's going to pic

  • 5:14

MY WIDE ANGLE LENS IS ABOUT TO BURST

  • He's right, definitely CANNOT listen to Singing in the Rain thanks to that movie

  • Skip the remake, but see Psycho 2, 3, and 4!

  • @Danzigadoo666 Just the original, Psycho II (only for the "Sandwich Shovel" scene), and Psycho III (only for the ending). That's my opinion.

  • @ZacksQuest I can't decide if I like the first or second movie the best. I think it's cool they were able to get the same guy to reprise his role twenty years later. R.I.P. Anthony Perkins.

  • but it's that half the fan boys and fan girls of the world

  • I would have put Alex more in front

  • I remember that family guy did that in the episode that goes steven king.

  • YAY T2. My second favorite movie...second to T1 that is... XD

  • I would've put Rhoda from the 1956 "the bad seed" because how well she pulled the part off.

  • I saw Annie Wilkes and died.

Misery is my favorite book and one of my favorite movies 8D

  • is that the jucie box theme from fable 2 and 3 at the start?

  • Off topic question. Are you ever going to do a VS. with Red Dragon and the 1986 version called Manhunter?

  • I disagree with his criticism of Hannibal. Hopkins as Hannibal is an intimidating presence in all three films. He always seems to be the master of his surroundings. It doesn't matter if he's in a cell or on a crowded street: he can and will hurt you if you offend him.

The brain scene is darkly comic because the alternative, stomach-churning realism, would have distracted the audience at a crucial turn that has everything to do with Hannibal and Clarice—not Krendler, who's basically a prop.

  • HE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THE COCKY-DOODY CAR!

  • 00:07 very scary face

  • Norman bates also looks like principle skinner

  • ...and now it was lovely music that came to my aid. There was an open window with a stereo on, and it was right then that I knew what to do...

  • Comment removed

  • whats the song playing between clips

  • @efsefzsgrzsgf It's Davy Jones' theme, from Pirates of the Caribbean.

  • Haha, my whole family still freak out like crazy if ANYBODY even MENTIONS the seen where that psycho bitch from Misery breaks the guys legs.

  • @GamerCherri in the book she cuts off his foot

  • Alex shoulda been AT LEAST top 5. (Roughly 3?) Hes a very interesting character. And Lecter? A bit harsh maybe? Thats the whole reason behind why he was scary: He had his wits about him and was a genious.

  • Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates, No....no why...why would they do that. I'd rather see Nicholas Fucking cage in that role.

  • @CameronWasmund What about Johnny Depp. I bet he could do a pretty scary Norman Bates

  • his performance is so darknes and so cruel that, when you so it it, you want it to give him some preaty deam good punches, because he is a freaking bastard.

  • alex fucking rock and roll man!!!

  • @Tjezzal

Agreed, i started to read the book, and Alex has more developement in the book than in the movie, you can get more into the character, and he's also more curel in the book. But the movie was still great tought

  • Norman Bates scares me 0_0

  • I would have also added Joe Pesci's role in Goodfellas to the countdown.

  • I loved the "A Clockwork Orange" book Alex has a hell of alot of character developement and just all round a great book, the movie was also pretty good but nothing like I pictured it. Anyways people should check out the book as well since it is different from the movie and I personally like the book more.

  • @Tjezzal its the same with me and Misery. the book completely blew me away, it was just amazing. the film was good too, but it didnt give the same feeling as the book did

  • @Nathpeggsy I guess the reason behind it is that directors have to shorten the books but deliver a new experience to the audience, which can ethier range from bad to good. But i rarely find movies that can beat the book it's based on.

  • @Tjezzal I love that freakin movie. The opening scene should be made into the most badass milk commercial EVER!

  • @Tjezzal I don't know which one i like more XD.

  • @Tjezzal I agree. Alex in the book is far more interesting; there's so much circling in his head.

  • @Tjezzal

I agree. Burgess's ending to the book turned it into a much more fascinating character arc for me. It felt genuinely profound when I read it, and I wish the American edition hadn't cut out that last chapter.

  • @Tjezzal I've read the book and seen the movie. Both are great.

  • Cyrus from Con-Air was creepy as hell.

  • Alex is practically my boogeyman..... OmO

  • Why was the Nostalgia Critic using a Pirates of the Caribbean theme for a transition song?

  • @FruggleFarkle123 What better song for a listing of scariest movie performances

  • Seriously who find the T1000 scary is a real pussy. He never scared me, i always found him cool

  • #7 Alex reminds me of Sander Cohen from Bioshock for some reason.

Call me a nerd but he does if you give it thought.

He does wrong but he thinks of it as art.

    Pretty creepy

  • 11:34 is funny.

  • I really would like it if Doug would compare Red Dragon to Manhunter, and hear his thoughts on William Petersen to Edward Norton and Brian Cox to Anthony Hopkins.

  • So I'm stupid, huh? Fuck you, your favorite movie is Brazil. The gayest movie ever

  • @DELGangster86 Dude learn to take a joke. >:(

  • Can anyone please tell what song NC used for his countdown. What is that awesome tune heard from 0:57 to 1:19?!

  • @F4Dogfighter Davy jones theme from Pirates of the carribean. It starts with the simple lullaby and then that music kicks in. Hope that helped :)

  • U never told us why top 11 lol

  • 6:35 reminds me of Law Abiding Citizen

  • for me its Ellen Sandweiss in evil dead the one how was in the celler and got raped by a tree wen she turned deadite i was scared as all hell

  • 11:32 XD

  • Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Alex scared me so much... I did get interested in learning Nadsat, though my brothers and sisteres. It's real horrorshow.

  • What's the name of the music that plays from 0:23 to 0:55?

  • @microsoftnerd4life It's the music box intro to Davy Jones' theme from POTC, right before the organ kicks in

  • At #9 I think there was a Family Guy verson of that

  • @I0LOVE0AMY0ROSE Yeah they did,its the episode "Three Kings"

  • I kind of laugh at the Hannibal brain scene as well.

  • What would heppen if Alex and Hannibal Lecter from Hannibal Rising would meet, because both are psychotic teenagers

  • Comment removed

  • It's weird how Red Dragon happens before Silence of the Lambs, but Hannibal is noticeably older. Guess there was no way to hide it.

  • @Leatherbubba Red Dragon is a remake of Manhunter, so of course they wanted Hopkins to return as Hannibal, since he had played him in two movies already, even though it's a prequel and Hopkins was much older. If they had replaced him, it wouldn't have been the same.

  • After L from Death note died I know how Annie felled. I am so angry and sad.

But I don´t wanna kill the writers.

  • OH COME ON! Alex should have been number one.

  • Annie Wilkes is the best person to do monolouges from.

  • Why top 11? Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

  • @SporeMan1337 because, he likes to go one step beyond

  • Awesome vid, but I love Hannibal and I think he should have gotten a higher rating. Maybe using the Hannibal from Hannibal Rising would have been a better choice, showing his actual descent into madness.

  • 11:31 Fail in the box...someone please capture that one bit and put it in a vid already, lol

  • 8:15-8:21 my thought on justin bieber never say never lol

  • @metakight4 Same here, except throw Twilight in there with it.

  • Just a little bit of insight into my personality: my nicknames are Lector and Alex. Just sayin'.

  • I love that Annie Wilkes is on this list. I just finished reading the book Misery, and she made me cringe. Boy, she was crazy, but I still loved the book.

  • 5:15-5:19 "My Wide-Angled Lens is about to burst!!!"

  • @darkaramon

That is Davy Jones's theme, from Pirates of The Caribbean.

    Pretty, isn't it? :)

  • Alex is supposed 14 while he's doing all that stuff. Singing in the Rain was actually improvised by Malcom McDowell. Bing Crosby wasn't impressed.

  • @darkaramon A Clockwork Orange

  • Hannibal Lecter is freaky. But seriously, 2001 A Space Odyssey sucked.

  • Culkin from Good Son should be on this list

  • My favorite Top 11 Countdown.

Posted on my bro's birthday. :)

  • @FormerMC002

I'm sorry, I'm just telling you what he told me. But maybe I will watch it if I get the chance.

  • my top 5 Scariest Performances in anime :3

    5. Light (death note)

    4 Ladd (baccano)

    3. Alucard (helling)

    2. Johan (monster)

    1. legato (trigun)

  • @tocofool fucking hell light yagami was messed up

  • 8:11 thats not a spoon! thats a knife!!! how do you get that wrong!

  • Hulk vs. Odin!

  • That it was an accident.

  • Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that I've been told that as bad as Alex was, one thing he never meant to do was kill. I never saw the movie, I was just told so.

  • @zillydino If you didn't watch the movie, then your comment means nothing.

  • Comment removed

  • i disagree about hannibal, the 2001 movie was creppy as fuck with hannibal in it due to him being free, so because he's free he's able to finally act like part of a normal society again. hes tricking the world he's in even though he has this horrific background behind him.

not to mention mason verger was absolutely fantastic!

  • they made fun of Annie Wilkes in family guy but it was stewie as her and brian as the author and it was snuggly jeff

  • anyone know what music he used in the theme to this top 11?

  • @redrobin41 Yeah this is Davy Jones Theme from The Pirates of the Caribbean II: Dead Man Chest.

  • @MegaGoodoldtimes

And Alex break in other people houses

  • @Frafdo95

Bullseye from the Marvel universe makes Hannibal Lecter looks like a kitty cat

  • @Gunindividual2

I agree at 15 years Alex was the worst kind of human.Killer, rapeist, thief,he beat other people, was a complite psychopath and is wery intelligent. He wasn't only manipulate. At 15 years he was on Norman Bates and Hannibal Lecters level. If he would grow up he would terrorise the whole world. He really deserved to be #1 on this list

  • Norman Bates just tops it for me. There is a reason you can trace so many things to that one character. It was a new thing for cinema to see someone like this not watered down and with all the psychological intricacies. What he did isnt what made him scary, it was how innocent he seemed and the thoughts that must have been driving him. Hitchcock knew exactly how to show it

  • what, was beedlejuice too perved out to be on this list or... no, why wasn't he on this list?

  • @scrabble1128 Beetlejuice was scary? I found him quite humerous.

  • Props to putting Annie Wilkes there.

  • HE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THE COCKA-DOODY CAR!!!

  • Jack-in-the-box fail, classic.

  • Annie Wilkes was ALWAYS on the rag.

Lecter was the worst kind of villain. He has all the means to achieve his goal in addition to his intelligence.

  • What's with the Pirates of the Carribean music?

  • how long are those stairs???

  • @Timeboyroks Ever read House of Leaves?

  • @Timeboyroks

loops in vids come in handy XD

  • Annie Wilkes reminds me of the sonic fanboys, scariest people on the planet. *shudder*

  • @6t76t "A new Sonic character?! Must.. Draw... PORN OF IT!!" Nuff said.

  • @6t76t

You think they're bad, you haven't run into any Twilight fans...

  • @6t76t Actually, you're thinking of the Twitards.

  • @6t76t Ouch. That hurts...

  • @6t76t as a dedicated fan to sonic (only the ones I've played anyway)

It really REALLy shames me that the fanbase has to be such extreme

  • @6t76t HEY!

  • @6t76t more like twilight fan girls

  • @6t76t That's the new stereotype? I didn't know Sonic fanboys were scary.

  • @6t76t I can kind of see it (freaking out whenever a character is killed, more or less). Other than that, though...
