Martha Raye was never given the credit for all that she did. She was more special than people realize. This video is what Christmas is all about. God bless her for all her good deeds.
I can never thank Martha Raye enough for visiting us in Vietnam in 1967 (42 years ago) with her Hello Dolly troupe. I saw her show twice. The speech she gave afterwards supporting US troops was inspirational. I will never forget her or her speech as long as I live. She didn't have to go there, but she did. God bless her!
This is what Life was all about in the good Ole OLD USA....makes you wanna cry when you see whats entertaining our kids today....Martha was a great comedian as well as a great singer...kinda like Bette Midler of the 40's..
Probably for length. Martha Raye also sang another solo, "Coming In On A Wing And A Prayer" and "It's the Old Army Game" with Carole Landis and Mitzi Mayfair, both of which were also cut. I'll find them and post on YouTube soon! Maggie loved the troops and would go anywhere in the world she felt needed some entertainment and a touch of home. Thanks for your comment!
OMG...I just finished watching this movie right now. It was so great, I wished they showed this part of the movie though. I wonder why they had to cut it out?
I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please view my clip of some rare 1930's movie star cards, including Kay Francis, Gary Cooper, Carole Lombard, Bette Davis, Clark Gable, Mae West, Will Rogers and many more.
What a joy...Martha is an American icon if ever there was one.

So true! What this country does to older people is a crime. At least she got a FULL military burial at Arlington.
Just look at the wonderful clips found elsewhere on YOUTUBE about her.
