Is there a way to get a short burst of the whistle without having to press a soft key? I dont understand why MTH wouldnt just allow you to hold down the whistle button for as short/long as you want? Thanks
@sprsho Yes, that is how it works now, you just press the whistle button down for as long or as short as you like. You dont however get that quick retort sound as you do with the S01 softkey.
@rayman4449 Ray I currently run the DCS with one TIU and one remote. I want to build an entirely different layout in another room using an entirely different TIU. Could I use the same remote to use with both TIUs (cost savings)? If I did, would I have to name the new TIU as TIU2? Thanks!
@jerryemt2001 Hi there, you sure can use one remote with both TIUs. You have a couple of options, you can set one to TIU1 and the other to TIU2 and make sure you have a TIU 1 and 2 in the remote.... or you can set both to be TIU1 and set them both Super TIU mode. I would probably try the super TIU mode first.
@Tom1491 Hi Tom, not sure if you saw my reply on the other video but it controls all trains with Protosound 1, 2 and the new 3 just now being released. Not just engines made by MTH. Protosound 2 upgrade kits are available from MTH to install in non-MTH engines or you can pay to have it installed. You can also control conventional AC powered engines under variable track voltage with the remote via the Variable 1 & 2 channels using AC power.
@Tom1491 The TIU can be wired either in normal mode (power supply to TIU to track) or passively Power supply to track and then TIU to track. Connections can come in many forms. My DCS tips page has more info on the normal and passive modes and my mods page has info on how to connect power feeder wires to the track.

how do you power down the remote

@faderlader The S5 softkey also doubles as the power on/off button. You just hold it down and it will power off or power on.

I'm doing research for my first steam O scale engine. What's the engine you have on the far side there with the silver front area? thanks.

@rs700301 Hi, That is a USA Trains G scale (1:29 scale) Hudson. On the right is an MTH 1:32 scale Hudson.

can you control engines other than MTH engines with this? Also how does it connect to the track?
