Hi. Aprox by the year 2020 a laptop will reach the human brain potential for processing data which means that there is a huge market waiting for hundreds of billions dollars to be sold or invested in humanoid robots and intelligent systems. It is the beginning of the bigger industry in human history. Search on Google luisbeck007 you will find the most complete humanoid robot list in the World, good information and interesting issues.
Awesome! I can see that it has some nice articulation going on there - realistic looking mechanical pivot-points, pneumatic/hydraulic pistons.
I can't be sure, but I seem to remember at least some of the FX for the loader in Aliens incorporated the actor in the loader, and then another person directly behind the actor, encased in the loader suit who helped to move the suit around. The two people would then sync their movements up together.
three months ago i have build a power loader..but your power loader it's the best of all p.l. whit this size ,congratulation man.(excuse me for my english)
That's true, Scott, it is. This video was posted by Roger Speakman so it is not really 'mine' per se. I have mentioned you extensively on my plaxo page - the still photo of the Power Loader. Many thanks, by the way. Together, we are probably the only ones that did this costume up on stilts that were that high -- and without incident.
Yes, a friend of both Russ and myself worked at ILM at the time (1990, I think), so he hoped they'd be interested in his skills at building such things. Regrettably, there was no success found there.
actally there was one like this designed but some reason the government would have to do some kind of special licence to operate these loaders i aint sure why but to be honest this would be a great idea to make these better then forklifts it slef
looks like the real thing. I never knew the movie one was used as a marionette type loader. Why dont they actually use these in todays workforce? with fork lifts always breaking down and needing repaired wouldnt it be a good idea if a company acutallyh made these?
this thing is sooooo cool....i have thought about building a power loader for about 3 or 4 years and i love the idea that it's possible for so little money. I remember going to the minnesota science museum and seeing the actual movie prop and fullsize alien queen in her pinchers scene about 40 times while it was here. i now know that it's in the movie hall of fame in seattle. and have been so i love with the that aspect of the movie since i was young. Bravo guys
Sadly, my friend in the video, Russ, gave it to a theater group here in Omaha to use as a prop about 15 years ago. I doubt it's still in existence. Oh well.
Sorry Pathfinder. I accidentally clicked on remove when I meant to reply to your last comment. You said something like, "If he's just giving them away, I could use one for my bar I'm planning."
As I kept trying to say, but the system wouldn't let me post it, he's no longer in a position to make another one, unless he was offered plenty of money so he could make the time and have the work area again in order to do it. But, as you and others can see, it can be done.
nice work for sure, best part of aliens

Absolutely superb. Must have been really good fun to not only build it but try it out and have it work so well.

Sweet! Do they do this kind of prop work for Hollywood movies these days? Seems like they're in love with cg and don't use nearly as many real props.
jtno2 2 years ago
@jtno2 Yeah all of the replica props now a days are about the shirts or shoes the actor wore never the giant fucking robot... sigh what happened

And by that I mean we walked the costume the farthest and in my opinion, the costume was also more complete.

Wow!! This replica is awesome. Although not as detailed as original full size props, it's better designed from a dexterity stand point.
