  • Then he rested as the all time best QB of all time.

    49ers Forver Faithful

  • Kyle Williams handled the press after the game extremely well. He had a bad game. It's very disappointing, but there's always next year. Can't wait for him to redeem himself in the superbowl next year

  • I remember watching that game at a friend's house in KC. Who knew then that his next game would be with the Chiefs?

  • You can Buy Joes pad in Napa CA for 35 million ...down from 50

    NAW

  • @onlyafterdarkness

Danny, you can buy Kyle Williams' pad for $5 now....down from 5 million cause he's a CHOKER!!! Get that asswipe some stick em!!!

    LMAO!!

  • Kyle Williams ruined the Niners' gaming chance to Super Bowl!

  • @anikid0392 how dare you mention that un-holy name while i'm watching Montana's final game!!

  • @calicav84 Sorry! D:

  • My son was about a year and a half old and I held him up to the TV when this game was on so he could say he saw Montana and Rice play together.

  • my right ear is lonely.

  • Should have been named the starter after this, and into the playoffs. I like Steve Young too, but the job was Joe's to begin with. He earned it, and may have been able to take that team back to the SB, which Young failed to do that season, as a healthy Montana sat on the bench and watched.

  • never been a niners fan but Joe Montana arguably one of the best qb's period ever(not just niners but nfl) I was in junior high watching him and the niners win big against the Bengals and the Broncos. Most of my family and friends are all niner fans. But when Joe went to KC all my friends straight face sat there and said "well he wasn't all that great, Steve Young is better" which is pretty much the reason I don't think highly of niner fans, im not a niner fan but i think 4 rings is awesome

  • Was there that night when Joe came back. Candlestick Park was electric with the fans standing ovation. Pouring rain the place was completely packed. What a feeling when he ran onto the field. When he threw the touchdown pass the crowd went totally crazy as Joe was officially back. We had waited so long for his return. An honor to watch and cheer one of the best ever quarterbacks on one of the best SF 49er teams ever. Good times!

  • Well was... lol

  • By far the best QB in the NFL

  • Remember this being the year (1991) where the Niners and Falcons were 10-6, but Atlanta got the playoff nod by virtue of their head-to-head wins vs. SF that year. Needless, to say, Mr. Glanville did his silly "California Trophy" strut at Candlestick in '92, and the Niners made the Falcons pay dearly in two blowout victories against the Buzzards that year.

  • The best ever and I'm a pats fan. This guy was crazy. I don't need to be alive in 88 when they won it or whatever to recognize the greatness of joe montana.

  • Nobody can touch Montana and Rice!!

  • No body better than "Cool"Joe.

  • 4-0 in SB 3-time MVP - A true legend - I remember this game I was 24 yrsostayed late to watch my ATG QB ever.

  • with Montana,Rice and Jones in the offense and Hanks and Sanders in the defense the 1994 49ers would have probably won the superbowl ending their season with 19-0 and defeating their opponents by 40 points margin.from a Packers fan.

  • 49ers fans were so loud when we were on offense. 20 years later we still do the same thing. Oh well.... Bring on the Aint's!!!!

  • Montana was a genius, some Mozart in the NFL

  • @melll101 ok dude alex smith does not suck, everyone says he does but they dont realize that since hes been with the 9ers hes had like 6 different offensive coordinaters telling him what to do that sucked ass now that we have harbaugh who played the position and understands his position turned him around, and look how that turned out a 13-3 season.

  • my right ear enjoyed this

  • @vstexas09 you've put your headset false to your head... it's only left side :DD

  • Was at this game. Still have the stub. It poured right up to the start of the game. Will never forget it.

  • It's like he never missed a beat from that long layoff..

  • Simply the best!

  • as a long time niner fan can I just say Alex Smith sucks

  • @melll101 Yes he sucks so bad that's why we are 13 and 3. SMH. Whatever.

  • @jwjr33 i love niners, and at least they are improving, better than last season where they didn't even make it to the playoffs, we actually have a chance. but yeah, joe montana is WAYYY better than alex smith

  • @JordanDragonW101 Of Course Joe Montana is better than Alex Smith, when did I ever say different?? All I was saying when it comes to Alex to the people who are bashing him on here is that if Alex were as bad as some here think he is, we would not be 13-3 and set to play our first home playoff game in 10 years. I bet if you asked some of these pathetic teams who are desperate for a QB, many would jump @ the chance to take Alex.

  • @jwjr33 Dude im scared that they will lose cuz he sucks balls well at least aldon smith will take care of drew brees

  • @jwjr33

He was average at best the last seven seasons. Jim Harbaugh has done a terrific job with Smith but he will never be the type of QB that can win games by himself when the chips are down. Thats why he's not mentioned among the elite. That team wins games through their running game and tough defense. All Smith is asked is to limit mistakes.

  • @melll101 You fucking idiot. Alex smith =13-3.

  • @melll101 no he doesnt now, he is ballin now, but san fran should draft barkley when he goes to the draft

  • @melll101 you are obviously not a long time niner fan if you talk crap! how many Joe montana's have there been in the NFL...1, Alex is doing the best he can 13-3!

  • @melll101 Alex Just won that game against Drew Brees and the Saint's Thanks for doubting him! :)

  • @melll101 You obviously don't know much football. Alex Smith has had 7 different offensive coordinators.

  • @melll101 Ummm, did you happen to catch the play-off game today, that Alex Smith was playing in the whole time? Yeah....They won, and Alex Smith was a large contributor to that win.

  • @GioisNeo Gawd!! That was emotional wasn't it!!??!?

  • @shimanchunutakara Although Alex will never be a Montana or a Steve Young, he has shown he can be a solid qb with the right personel around him. He will continue to get better with consistency with the coaches. The niners are having a great year. I think Alex deserves some credit.

  • My Left ear loved this!

  • Id care wat yall say about joe montana he got nothing on dan marino ,dan marino did it without a team joe montana had a team build around him

  • @KendellBowman LOL!!!!!!!!!! now that was a funny joke 4 super bowls to none, need I say more???? Ok I guess I will, if your going to talk nonsense on a Joe Montana video at least have the vocabulary of a 4 year old, is that too much to ask???

  • @jwjr33 calm down

  • @achow456 no

  • @KendellBowman Yea Marino was better.....NOT EVEN IN UR DREAMS!!!

  • I love watching Joe and Rice doing their thing! he's my favorite QB of all time!

  • @dclipe Oh did I too. Sadly in this game, Joe's final pass to Jerry ever was a 4 yard out. Damn shame one of those td passes couldn't have gone to the G.O.A.T.

  • man.....alex smith makes me miss joe and steve even more.

  • Comparing Brady to Montana is like comparing Lebron to MJ. THERE IS NO ARGUMENT HERE!!!!

It just brought a tear to my eye watching 'The Faithful' cheering and having a good time at the stick in 1992. On that Monday night game vs. the Steelers, that magic is definitely back.

  • @afternoonvillain I am a Niner fan and agree but give Brady some credit. He is no Lebron. Bron Bron chokes in the finals.

  • @apollo792 ATTENTION ATTENTION DIPSHIT we had casselplaying at qb and he played pretty well with a good team brady is still a great qb so shut the fuck up you have no clue what you are talking about but i do agree peyton makes the colts

  • @madmaxyme rodgers doesnt earn shit he has the best weapons in the nfl jennings driver finley nelson and so on and he cant even win without some of them so actually his team carries him

  • @3ownsu dumb ass Rodgers already has as many rings as young. And I mean that he earned, not the 2 he got while riding the bench. Rodgers is also about to get his second.

  • @madmaxyme Wrong

  • Back in them days QBs took hits. Now you cant touch the QBs. What Joe would have done if he played today. The best QB of all time

  • 49ers with young=packers with rogers

49ers with montana= packers with farve

  • @Ismokenroll Rodgers is no where near young, lol. Rodgers shuts down when defenses play defense right.

  • My stupid comparations:

49ers with Montana = Patriots of Brady

49ers With Young = Eagles of McNabb

  • @reneluar Ummmmm last i checked 9ers won a super bowl with Young and eagles didn't win one super bowl with McNabb, Comment makes no sense

  • @jwjr33 I agree, i said that because McNabb lost so many NFC championship and win 1, Brady lost 1 and wind 4, just that, in superbowls McNabb and Andy Reid are loosers

  • @jwjr33 yeah, but he's got a 'comparation' there;-)

  • @jwjr33 Eagles have NEVER WON a Superbowl.

    Talk about a high-flying turkey!!!

  • @reneluar what's a "comparation"?

  • @DaggerMan11 Sorry, is "comparison", i dont talk well the english and dont use the google translator, im learning

  • @reneluar Except Steve Young is the greatest QB to ever play, and McNabb was an overrated piece of shit...an average QB hyped up in typical media fashion because of their desire to see a black QB succeed.

  • @EmceeNolan lol wow that sound like some ol rush limbaugh type shit....as matter of fact i think you probably stole that quote right out of his mouth....you and rush are both talking out of your asses....not to mention your ridiculous steve young comment...he wasnt even better than joe

  • @Clegend24 Rush was right. Donovan McNabb is garbage. Piss-poor numbers before the Eagles signed Owens, mediocre ones every year after. And look where he is now. Can't hold down a starting job to save his life. He's trash. A fat, lazy piece of shit who can't hit the broad side of a barn. He's a loser.

Young was better than Montana. The only thing Montana has on him is "rings," which is a stupid thing to judge an individual player by since it's a team sport.

  • The 49ers were never the same with Young.

He was a great accurate QB but he didn't have that "clutch gene" that Montana possessed.

Montana won 4 out of 4 Super Bowls.

Young lost 4 out of 5 NFC Championship games.

  • He was just a spectacular qb everytime he was on that field he took care of business

  • Beautiful

  • everytime i see that man come out onto the field donning the red and gold i get goosebumps...almost 20 years later

  • Tom Terrific again proved he's the greatest ever by surpassing Montana's all time total wins.

  • Did the Niners win or lose this game?

  • @KillSwitch2 lol im pretty sure they won

    1. Young was the starter and soon to b NFL MVP for the 1992 season and was most likely pulled cuz of a solid lead

    2. Montana obviously shredded the lions

but then again i cud b wrong about the outcome but i doubt i am

  • @IWillStompYouOut no i will stomp u out the niners have one all there games except for one

  • Excuse my ignorance 49ers fans, Redskins diehard here...

I remember watching this game when I was 6. I remember one fan holding up a giant sign: "Through the rain, sleet and snow/ We came to see Joe". I remember Joe's brief but great second-run on the Chiefs where he took them to within one game away from the Super Bowl. My question for fans : When Joe played in this game was it already known that this was going to be his last as a 49er? Did he have health or back issues after this game?

  • @KillSwitch2 It had been known for some time that this would be Montana's last game with the 49ers as Steve Young had taken over and Montana's contract was up. Montana had taken a violent shot from Leonard Marshal in the 1990 NFC Championship Game against the New York Giants which knocked him out of action for quite some time. This was the 49ers last game of the '92 season and Joe would sign with the Kansas City Chiefs the following summer

  • @jlewis123456789

thanks for the info, man. Even as a kid I loved Montana though I have no afilliation to S.F. whatsoever. He just always seemed like a class act and a great guy.

  • Greatest QB of all-time.

  • For the 9 dislikes you all can eat shit and die, be resurrected only to eat shit and die a slow death

  • His first throw is a typical little 5 yard Montana pass. His second throw is under thrown. They call him Joe Cool. But who wouldn't be cool on a team as complete as those 49ers were?

  • @filthyswit Well, in 1981 the team was far from complete and Montana carried them to the Super Bowl. Montana's YPA career was over 7 yards which is comparable to other QBs since the WCO era.

  • Montana is the best QB all time, all eras whatever you want

    UP THE STEELERS

  • simply the best QB that ever was

  • How about the energy waiting for him to take the field for the first time? And the noise before he took the huddle? If they dealt young and kept Montana that year and the 2 years after Dallas wouldn't have won the championship games

  • This was SUCH a great memory. Thanks for posting!!

  • people out there old enough to remember during the mid to late seventies to early eighties there were no salary caps. Because of the 49ers generous ownership of high talent and thus expensive players they were a cut above every other nfl team in terms of both defensive and offensive talent. Can you inmagine Montana playing with a less than mediocre offensive line unable give him time to pass his play level of play would not have been drastically diminished. that's an absurd notion to disregard.

  • I wish i were old enough to remember the glory days of montana and rice. I'm barely old enough to remember the days of steve young.

  • thank you so much for posting these games i love the 49ers

  • @greg4161 LOL I l always get a big kick out of idiots like yourself that just say stuff just to get a reaction from a ton of 9ers/ Joe Montana fans.

  • @jwjr33 Me too..Colin Cowherd sometimes bring up the old Brady-Montana debate..It's getting tired..Isn't it interesting how when Brady goes down, the Pats win 11 games, and when Manning is out the Colts could go winless???

  • @greg4161 brady is my favorite quarter back..but i can admit that joe montana was better

  • @greg4161 Ok Tom, try to be a lil more humble huh

  • @greg4161 i can't agree less with you..

  • Thank you for postings this.

  • @ARSONPINNACLE Your welcome

  • Go Joe Go, oh dammit i was too young TT_TT

  • wow he played greate after injury. what happen afterward? why didn't he stay with the 49ers? Oh boi if history changes.

  • at the time though, no one knew this would be montana's last game as a 49er...joe wasn't traded to kansas city until april of 1993.....i was 8 years old then, and remember this being the first time i stayed up for an entire monday night game....

  • KIng.

  • I was 9 months old when this happen. This mark the last time my father (a 49ers fan) see his favorite NFL player in a 49ers uniform before Montana went to Kansas City. He and my father both have the same first name.

  • Some might have had better numbers, a stronger arm, more MVPs

....but no one won like Joe. He was a badass beyond belief.

  • The Greatest Quarterback of All Time!!! Period!!! Fuck Tom Brady and Fuck Payton Manning!!! Nobody will ever be like the Great One.. Joe Montana...

  • If it weren't for THE 49ERS superior offense and defense montana would'nt have been half the QB that he appeared to be. Brady has demonstrated, unlike Montana his ability to find and hit multiple receivers, whereas Montana was focused on two maybe three.

  • @greg4161 were you even old enough to remember montana play? He made three reads before he finished his three step drop, and often times hit his fourth option on a play.

  • @greg4161 Montana did not throw one interception in his Super Bowl career. Not one. 4 championships, 3 SB MVPs, and Not one loss in the SB. The numbers speak for themselves, and anyone old enough to remember, in which case you are obviosuly not, knows that #16 had a golden arm that was at its best when the most was at stake. Do your homework before you start talking that bullshit. Oh, btw, he won two SB titles before Rice was even drafted.

  • @erdumptin im patriots fan and my fav player of all time is tom brady ... but simply put joe montana is the greatest qb to ever play the game ....

  • lol the crowd goes crazy over a 3 yard check down

  • I'm always reminded of Superman when I see Montana. Dierdorf was correct, all is right with world once again indeed.

  • Joe was the greatest CLUTCH QB the game has ever known!

  • Brady just passed Montan'a total td passes. If Brady stays healthy he'll crush that number.

  • @greg4161 Brady will never be in Montana's league.

  • I dont like the new qb

  • Montana would've shredded those Cowboys defenses... Young was great, but he was no Joe Montana

  • Look at my David Akers kick

  • 3Tom Brady doesn't have shit on joe cool Montana.

  • @pokenerdgen5

"Was he the BEST quarterback skillswise?"

ya see you threw that word in at the end which I believe is where the confusion is about.

I think when people say "the best" they mean in terms of how effective a QB is and I don't think anyone was more effective than Montana.

  • TO ALL HATERS.....Go to your team if you are not a 49ers fan and if u say Montana is not overall best quaterback You Can Suck My 49ERS SOCK THAT IS ON MY FOOT RIGHT NOW!!!

  • @pokenerdgen5 dude y are you such a DINGBAT! go watch something else if your going to hate on montana HES THA BEST!!!!!! Thumbs up if you think so!

  • @pokenerdgen5 and y are you watching a 49ers video go watch somewhere else if your going to say shit about montana HES THA BEST EVER....

  • what was his injury?

and how many super bowls did him and rice get together

  • @tacotwosdays he tore a tendon in his elbow. And he won 4 Super Bowls.

  • @pokenerdgen5

    YOU'RE AN IDIOT!

  • @pokenerdgen5

    YOU'RE AN IDIOT!

  • Jason Hanson is still playing today.

  • @pokenerdgen5 did you compare Vince Young to Joe Montana? lmao

  • "And All is right in the world again"

    - Announcer

lol, that comment is so true.

  • @pokenerdgen5 youre retarded

  • 1991,1992,1993 all those NFC Championship Montana should played at least 1 game.

  • he's so good that he made throwing an accurate pass easy

  • I'm so sorry we have to get old.Joe is the most awsome QB ever no one will ever be more liked or famous.I hope i have a chance to meet him before i die and tell him how much inspiration and drive he made for so many of us as teenagers. He's never been in any scandals or contriversity a great role model.# 16 will always be remembered and chirished.

  • Joe being the QB and as everyone knows is the Heart of the team except for probably @pokenerdgen5 it's not his fault he doesn't know Football. Besides that No QB in 49er lore will ever surpass him. he was the QB on the 1rst 9er SB champion team right then he will always be the most loved. Then he brings 3 more now he's not only the 9er GOAT he's one of the NFL GOAT period

  • @tellthetruthg I think Montana is the greatest ever im with you on that one

  • @NativeNavajo1 I'm glad you get it and I appreciate your RE cosigning my post! Joe gets a ton of respect from current and retired NFL players and that probably means more to him than all the posters on youtube . But when posters message that Joe's success was lucky or only because he had Jerry or Bill Walsh or what ever they use to try to diminish his carer I'll defend it like a 9er faithful should. Stats are meaningful check out football reference . Joe owns a lot of # 1 stats in post season

  • @tellthetruthg Thanks if people doubt Montana all they got to do is look at his time with KC that was a Garbage team and Montana took them to the AFC Championship game they lost but it was still amazing he didnt have Rice on that team but im with you on that

  • The crowd was louder for Joe in a meaningless 2nd half stint than Young ever had them up to that point. That's all I need to know. I hated the 49ers, but NO ONE> Joe Montana.

  • @cbaldwinjr Lol if u hate the 49ers than y r u watching THIS VIDEO YOUNG MAN!!!!

  • I guess what I'm saying is the sports are different. It's obvious that a football player isn't necessarily a baseball player. The opposite also holds true. I doubt many baseball players could play any position in football, so the big question is this.... if the New York Yankees played the New York Jets in a basketball game who wins? Alright... silly question, but comparing baseball to football is also silly since they are both so different games that require a different skill set.

  • @LeBronHasBadFootWork I'm not even sure what you mean by this comment. Could you please define "level of difficulty" for me? If you mean its harder to swing a bat and hit a ball/know by the sound how far the ball will go/throw the little ball and hit a tiny spot then sure those are difficult skills. I can tell you, however, i'd rather try to hit a 100 mile an hour fast ball than be in a 10 yard fight drill w/ Patrick Willis and Ray lewis.

  • I miss Joe Montana.

He is the best QB ever.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • The Master of the West Coast Offense.

  • not even a 49ers fan but he was the best qb of all time

  • phillup rivers! :D

  • the 49ers and joe montana, what a great time!!!

  • if Joe Montanan started in the 1992 playoffs

I know the 49ers would have beaten cowboys and the bills

  • I think the 49ers would have won more super bowls by keeping montana and getting rid of young. Would not have been as good in the long run but the 49ers didn't do anything in the long run anyways. Montana would not have been intimidated by the Cowboys the way the 49ers were under Young. so Montana would have retired in 95 so years 96-98 we'd have to find another qb but young didn't win a super bowl then anyways. Rather Favre dominated the league.

  • @drvenkman16 Id like to agree, but those years in KC just werent the same Joe. Still we just might have won one more with Joe. Man what two decades we fans enjoyed. Now we have nothing but garbage teams.

  • He was the best!

  • Joe Montana was a Beast. He left it all out on the field like you're supposed to do.

  • I got goosebumps watching this. Those were the days.

  • @fukOsamazMama remember candlestick when we were kids? man, I'd give anything to go back to a full stadium

  • Fuck Leanord Marshall. I hope he has permanent lower lumbar pain.

  • Tell you what would be epic? the best american foot ball team versus the best rugby team

  • Joe Montana = Greatest QB EVER!!!!

  • Joe Montana = the best.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Come back and teach Alex Smith how to throw, please!

  • @TASIXV No teach Colin Kapernick instead!

  • I really miss Joe.. He truly is The Greatest of All Time in all of football..

  • I remember watching this game just to see if my favorite football player of all time would come back and play one more time for the 49ers. WOW, is not even enough to explain.

  • 3:22 simply iconic. how many times has joe raised his hands like that? glory years!!!

  • @pokenerdgen5 haha

  • joe montana forever the greatest qb!!

  • there should be an asterisk as this highlight is against detroit lmao

  • Physical skills aren't everything when it comes to the making of a great qb. Joe had ice running through his veins and thats what makes him above any qb who ever played. This is not even debatable! Ask any player who played in his era and even before his era. They all say he is the best!

  • Im a Colts fan i love pyeton manning but you know... THIS MAN REALLY WINS EVERYTHING SIMPLY THE BEST!!!

  • legend.

  • Can you upload the video of this game ? I would very much appreciated Thank you

  • @pokenerdgen5 your an idiot dude and don't know what your ssaying.Your talking stats?Brett Farve has ALL the stats in the world for a QB.But ASK MANY NFL coaches, past and present and MANY will tell you they would have Joe Mantanawith 2 minutes to go down by 3 or 6 points in the Super Bowl and 80 yards to go!In this league your measured by SB's and you KNOW that,Marino - 0,Young - 1.Joe hadn't he been hurt here and in other years could have had more SB's and higher stats,

  • Judging QBs by superbowls is stupid. Its how they performed in those
