What I'm saying is, is that when I'm criticizing someone in a condescending or humiliating way it's usually because that criticism was used against me in some related form. I think that it's my way of continuing to keep others boxed in conformity - trying to smash each individual person into one box or another instead of trying to understand them, all for the sake of comfort instead of truth.
Half way through I noticed that I was trying my damnedest to find something wrong with what you were saying. I was trying to discredit everything you say on an intellectual level just because you got one thing wrong.
Truth is, I can't say for sure I know much. In fact, I know very little. Most of the time I'm just judging things by my heart instead of by my mind. If something feels right, I just roll with it intellectually, yet I still let the criticisms of others weigh my conscience down.
What does it mean by "you are this moment"? I need some elaboration. Does it mean that whatever you "decide" right now about yourself is true? As in, if you acted and believed you were confident, then people would perceive you as being confident? How does this work with people that already have an initial impression about you?
I just want to say, I was in this program called ROTC, and I really never liked it. I didn't want it in my future, and you are one of the people that let me have the courage to drop out and start on what I want to do in life.
Very good video. It makes sense. The distractions are a bit.. distracting. But its easy to get around. Love the last line "I also just don't like Rick Perry."
great video. I didnt all of it, kind of his point imo. thing i wanna say is, cancer wasnt as common during the 19th century as we couldnt track it like we do now along the human population and life expectancy being alot lower than it now.
But suppose I am at a concert, and I am open to the music and it is making me happy. But if I also gain happiness from sharing this experience with my friends, at the same time, aren't I gaining happiness from them being there as well as just from the music?
In the first 30 seconds you misattribute the abscence of disease with the diagnosis of disease. Just because the statistics show there were less cases of ADD and 'genetic' diseases, doesn't not mean they were not there, it mean the standards by which we were measuring them were not thorough enough, If I remember rightly the average age of a human during the early 1900's was about 40-50.

I saw this on 4chan. I agree with EVERYTHING you said. You have a strong sense of psychological, political, and philosophical understanding of the world. And it's interesting that you talk about a lot of living in the now. Such a popular theme among western Stoics and eastern Zen. I've subscribed to you sir.
@kylecease I guess you don't subscribe the "less is more" kind of philosophy. Maybe use bullet points next time? Kidding. I actually found it to be pretty insightful. But it must've taken a hell of a lot of adderall to the make this video.
Haha look at the sheep praising you. Faulty reasoning. Implying so much about people you don't know. Wheres your fucking education? Have you studied the human brain? The human condition? No. You haven't. You don't know what you're talking about, and that makes you as bad as the big media you criticize. You don't get to talk as if you know what you're talking about, because you don't. You haven't the slightest clue. You're pulling facts from mid air and calling them universal truths. Shameful.
@Redskizzers He didn't call anything a universal truth. He stated his opinion on philosophy, a very open subject, in a way in which people understood and grasped and which motivated them. That was his aim, and it was achieved. In my opinion it's a good thing.
You had me at "hyperactive & ADD". This video actually got me to stop multitasking on facebook & skype, and listen with undivided attention for a full 15 minutes. Bravo, Kyle. I love (and relate with) everything you say...except I would advise that you learn about Ron Paul, he's the one man that isn't part of the game.
.....And predisposition or (in some cases) a direct defect of a gene (down syndrome) is now known to cause a variety of disorders, ADD and other behavioural problems may be an example of this. The human genome project is a design based around the theory that genes affect our behaviour, and thus we can identify and hopefully treat them. Its becoming steadily more useful to us in responding to health threats or predisposition. the study of genetics too has come a long way since 1900.
.... People put it down to genetics? sounds more like genetics scares you and genetics are a biological reason for in part why u are the way u are.....
@schloosberry -- The human genome project failed!! In other words... you're wrong. Genes are activated by environmental signals [ei: food, tv, music, etc...] you don't have a Cancer gene... you choose to put yourself in the vicinity of the Cancer signal [ei: meat, dairy, microwaves, etc...] therefore, if you get cancer, it's not because of your genes... genes don't turn themselves on and off. If you blame genes for anything, you haven't done your homework.
@djhardcoretruth you clearly havent done yours! i was a bit toasted when i wrote that but at least i speak with knowledge about the subject (not a personal attack). 'You choose to put yourself in the vicinity of the cancer signal?' i think youve read too much daily mail with your list of things that give u cancer (milk and dairy?) the fact is everything emits radiation...
@djhardcoretruth ... (a consequence of the big bang which im assuming you believe in- if not we can end this discussion now and wont waste each others time) from the ocean to pebbles. Also, the human genome project has not failed in any sense! incomplete yes but failed no. (try searching the net for an unbiased account). ..
@schloosberry -- Big Bang? LMFAO ASSume away.... but, how can infinity have a beginning? HHHmmm...?? Why haven't elephants evolved in thousands of years? BTW... the genome project fails because they throw away the protein sleeve of the DNA. Please do your homework and stop ASSuming everything!!
@djhardcoretruth saw ur channel its narrow and boring. seen the film already thought its basis was loose. clever to notice how assume has the word ASS in it. lol. its clear we cant have a debate, a) because you don't know how and b) because if your gunna debate the big bang then we'll never agree so ill save us some time. U clearly know nothing about evolution or genetics, having a vaguely scientific channel does not make you an expert. Is this Bill O'Reilly on Youtube? cuz ur as dumb and stupid
@schloosberry -- LMFAO DEbate.... is that like DEvolve?? DEstruct?? Got anymore childish nonsense to spew at my person?? Grow up you foolish life-form.
@schloosberry -- and YES... everyone go prove to yourself how "Narrow & Boring" my videos actually are.... don't take this morons word for it... think and act for yourself... go LOOK NOW!!
@djhardcoretruth hahaha. ur videos suck! dont think people are gunna fall for your pathetic little plug either. haha im a moron? im pretty sure u were the one struggling to come to terms with genetics, simple evolution and cosmology. but ur a scientist because u have a youtube channel right? people like you mislead people from the truth, your so ignorant you try to explain things without fact and the trouble is people believe idiots like you. enjoy ur pathetic insignificant life
@djhardcoretruth ...Not really sure how u got on to talking about cancer either when i was referring to exclusively genetic illnesses such as down syndrome. Your reasoning is flawed and ur evidence non-existent. Genes dont turn themselves on and off? when did i say that? you have an incredibly limited understanding and i suggest a GCSE in biology at the very least. (No offence!)
it was ok. i think the only stuff i agreed with was the idea about consumerism. But what about the ADD and behavioural bit at the beginning? we had less people with behavioural problems in 1900? its probably not that we had less but more likely because there were no means of testing......
Oh gosh, you're so absolutely a 100% right. Immediately after pressing play on this video I scrolled down to read the comments as I was listening, then reading some twits in another tab. Then going back to see what the sleeve-thing was all about, then over to Facebook to press F5 before realising what I was listening to, and actually hearing it. Wake up call!
The web definitely needs more of these videos, thank you so much for taking the time to make this and post it! I needed this, thanks! :-)
Everytime I feel uninspired, or am confused about what I'm doing in life, or I feel I'm lost as an individual, I'm going to watch this video and feel motivated to be better
Very constructive, liking this, its a bit like when i started using positive thinking and action to get good at guitar and then later heard about the 'law of attraction' and realised that was what id been doing. Very very simple, but also so elusive under the vail of society. Will use again, it worked. Thanx!
Ok I think I got it, but there's still one problem, what if I know all that stuff and there are people who know it too. We know that we're being manipulated by everyone around us, they influence our decisions and thoughts. We all get it. This is the thing we know, but we're TOO SCARED to change it. You have to be really brave to choose to be different than others, when you fit perfectly in this crazy world. I know I'm not brave enough...
hey Kyle you have been a huge inspiration an i love your vids but i was wondering though y does it seem that high school is just a boring re-run on tv? i mean im already a senior in HS an i no its obviously a required thing in life an ya i need 2 graduate, but how would u elaborate on something like that? were your forced to live in a stuck reality everyday and cant really see the positives in things that some 1 else would b able 2 that had more options an had what u call their "freedom"
I just traded my sandwich for my mates fire extinguisher after we did that trade we went home i found out later that his sandwich got burned to ashes the moral of the story is don't give away your fire extinguisher because your sandwich might burn to death R.I.P BLT....-lifts shirt- heres my 3rd nipple
Kyle what are your thought on the Pick Up Artist Community?? I don't know if you are aware of it.. Youtube ''Mystery, Tyler Durden, Gambler PUA, David Wygant, Neil Strauss, Adam Lyons'' to see what im talking about . Please get back to me :) Thanks
What's funny is that this is such a first world philosophy. Who said that you deserve to be happy? In actuality, happiness is an incentive the brain lets you taste for a very very short when you've achieved something.
And then you're stance on individuality is very culture specific. Humans are social animals and we feel incomplete when we separate.
Lastly, I choose reality, I have a full spectrum of emotions. Sometimes being a hater reminds you of stuff in yourself you don't want to be.
