Wow, what memories...recognize so many faces..and Mr.Hammerle, best band director ever! What history...the hairdoos, eyeglasses...Great job Don, and everyone else. Thanks for the memories....
You guys are the greatest!! Thanks for your respect and eagerness to perform at your best. I would love to hear from you and learn of your accomplishments. John Hammerle, director of the Westchester Bands, 1968-1973.
Did anyone see the Wranglerettes in the film American Gangster? Interesting footage in that it captures the shooters penchant for enshrining the prettiest girls and the most popular boys. Ah, but isn't that what high school was all about?
Also, note that the Twin Towers were actually being built during this time period.
I saw that too! Came up out of my chair. My wife thought I was nuts until I showed her this video. Thanks for keeping me out of the funny farm for a little while longer!
I saw it also and flipped out! We had rented the movie so I was able to rewind it and show my husband - LOOK! That's the Wranglerettes! "The WHAT?" he said. hahahah!!! Too funny!
Killer video and the memories it brings back make me smile. The early 70's at Westchester were truly great times (Class of '73) and I wouldn't trade them for anything. We were somewhat sheltered from world events due to our ages but that was still a time of awakening for all generations. Plus the music was just plain awesome and it still holds up extremely well. Damned glad to have been a part of that time!
Wow, that was amazing!!! Were any of you at the all classes reunion at Clay's a few weeks ago? I'm class of 1982, but that was still incredible, especially seeing the construction of the WTC. Jimmy Fingers
Far out! Sweet stuff y'all... those days of exciting amazing radical social change etc. seem so tame and innocent now. Thanks for sharing, well-produced!
Thanks for posting this! I was a freshman in '70 so I wasn't on this trip. But I did get to go to Macy's in 1973 with the Roonies. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this and remembering some fun times! Thanks again!
Great stuff! I remember watching the band and the Roonies at Macys on TV every year. Sure does bring back some good memories. Would love to see some more WHS related clips.
wow douglegacy you were a hottie back in the day. ;) Well, I'm a graduate from Westchester Academy and I have to say it's a shame that we traded this for the Silver Stars ::gag::
Although I was not in New York with you, this video made me feel as if I were. The clothes and hair!! Thanks for this trip down memory lane. Those days of love, rock and roll, peace demonstrations, endless cruising up and down Memorial Drive in search of anything exciting going on. Nice to have this video to bring back some these thoughts of life at Westchester High in the late 60's and early 70's.
Wow, phenomenal (and the post-production ain't bad, either)!!! It feels like you're watching something between the Ed Sullivan show and a Beatles movie... and then it gets really surreal when you see the World Trade Towers half-constructed. Nice work, Don, Ann, and Melinda's dad.
I too marched with my school band (Silver Creek, San Jose, CA) in the Macy's Parade in 1970! Wish I had a video!
