@blondebatsy Its a reflection of todays society. The over 40s grew up with musical geniuses, such as Elton. This new generation grow up with Karaoke tripe from x-factor.
Love this live version of Benny and the Jets! Elton John is a great pianist and song writer, truly a timeless artist... If you like this version be sure to check out my live instrumental version of it on my channel!! Let me know what you think!
This reminds me of seeing Elton in Auburn, Al. along time ago. About 1973. He had the white piano and we were up real close to the stage. Good memory!
@ploftus12 Watch Gaga sing Edge of Glory on piano on the Howard Stern show July 18. I'm a 46yr old musician, and that is one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. I think she is Elton's equal, time will tell. Also loved her doing Paparazzi solo piano in Australia.
@dadeeo44 you are an idiot! elton has truckloads of musical talent, a huge vocal range and sings songs with deep and meaningful lyrics (not that he wrote the lyrics) , not needing to dance around the stage to entertain while gaga is the latest popstar from the pathetic madonna mould who relies on machines to help her voice and provide her with rythm and melody, while using desperate publicity stunts and aweful provocative lyrics in order to sell. bad romance was a long point for popular music
@CptGoom Ahahah, I wasn't born in 08 mate, relax. And Im not a man. We were just trying to make fun of the bullshit talking about "I was born in the 90's or later but I love this oldies." It is just a way to get attention and it should't be supported by thumbs up or being praised. Good and bad music was made before, good and bad music it's being made now. Any more words or comments about this matter it's useless information and a waste of time. Just sayin'.
@MrNotyag The reasons for Elton Johns success were: 1. talent 2. songwriting ability 3. musicianship 4. showmanship 5. and working bloody hard - although I agree with your comment on the masses in some cases - not this one though.
@MrNotyag Because he has an immense amoun of lyrical and vocal talent . When you can write the songs he does and sing them that amazing you come and talk shit .
@blaylockboys this song is about the explosion of the rock scene; find an inspiration, get a few buds, some wild outfits and the energy of the times would turn you into the stuff of legend . . . and it was true, too. Elton's appeal was his absolute rhythmic genius on that piano. I would sit on the floor, back pressed against the speaker, just massaging it in . . . I'm not sure anyone notices musical talent or musicianship anymore, so I don't expect anyone to understand why
um, I don't know where you've been but Lady Gaga mostly sings about self acceptance and how people should love who they are.... Anyway, I love Elton John!
This is a man with real talent. Just him and an acoustic piano and it still rocks. Something that couldn't be pulled off by any of this generations' "artists" with record contracts...
@Wyzzard123 I disagree. Neither of them have the talent that Elton John has, especially Gaga. The only reason you even know of her is because she has a unique ability to manipulate the media but there's no substance behind the style. Even look at the lyrical content. Lady Gaga sings about getting drunk and laid while Bennie and the Jets is social commentary about how superficial the music business is. A little ironic, don't you think?
@behlerfood I guess I've come from a different generation. Don't have so much time to research about this stuff though... So I never really knew Elton John's appeal. It'd be nice if you replied me with more information (maybe in a message)
I dont know to many singers, whos voice gets better with age.these rockers nowadays.there washed up after 10 years.and there voice is history.not e.j's
You know, when American Idol forces the contestants to do icons like Elton John, Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, etc., they try their best to make it sound good. Personally, I think Haley did good with the song, but as always, it won't beat the original.
holy crap lady gags seriously tries to embody him when she sits in front of a piano and Madonna when she steps in the studio. None the less, gotta love Sir Elton John hats off!!!
Man i confused. I'm 15 i like rap and metal and hate this type of music. But the part after he says buh buh buh Bennie and the jets when he plays the piano sounds f-ing awsome lol.
@ipodtester1 Yeah thats all well and good..... but how can you not like this type of music man its fucking beautiful.... maybe you should listen to some more elton john and then you might realise how fucking awsome this type of music is :)
He looks pretty bald headed for being 29 in 1976. You would think he would have hair in 1976. I guess this is why he is so famous for wearing so many hats. I never knew that Elton John was so bald headed back then. He looked to have more hair later on in life. I'm confused. I usually associate being bald or going bald to be something significant related to older age. He must have had hair implants later on in life. Fast forward to now when he seems to have a full head of hair just fine.
@dmfdmf3 struggling to see your logic behind a generalist comment like that, only making yourself look like a fool. Britain has class, I'm guessing you're either Irish or American, difficult to tell
@Combeferre94 Don't be such a Commie in here. Where someone is born & or nationality has nothing to do with logic. I grew up with the music of Elton John. He's got more talent in his little finger than most of the "faces" they have now. The secret to his success, by and large, has been his amazing talent with songwriting. He recently said that the music of today is so bad because there's no good songwriters anymore. These "artists" of today don't write their own stuff, so they're gone when the fame of their one and only song dies out.
Tuesday the 17th of September 1976, 8:00pm, Playhouse Theatre, Edinburgh. £3.50 for a stalls ticket. The man was a genius. I miss those days so much, so many good tunes.
Homosexuality destroyed this mans life. Such great talent. He now sounds like a predatory alpha homosexual, with his ugly deep voice, even after the laser treatment he received which Steven Tyler popularized.
@dmfdmf3 Elton didn't suddenly become gay! It's homophobia that made life difficult for him and has driven others to suicide. Why do so many Elton pages on youtube get dragged down by comments on his sexuality? Strange that some other famous gay or bisexual stars aren't so stigmatised. Bowie said in a September 1976 interview with Playboy,"It's true—I am a bisexual. But I can't deny that I've used that fact very well. I suppose it's the best thing that ever happened to me"
@mizofan I'm not arguing with you about homosexuality. I'm saying if he took care of himself and didn't engage in sodomy and drugs like Freddie Mercury, he could have kept on singing. Today he is a talentless, broke hack.
@dmfdmf3 For a "talentless broke hack" his new album is getting an extraordinary amount of critical raves, including 5 stars in Rolling Stone. If anything, he's on the way back up.
@mizofan They can give it all the rave reviews they want. Surely you won't find a"Crocodile Rock", "Benny And The Jets" or "Don't Let The Sun" on there. Music cannot be produced at the behest of debt collectors.
@dmfdmf3 your abit of am ignorant twat arent you, his voice changed when he had surgery on his vcal chords, it has nothing to do with his sexuality. Grow the fuck up. If you dont like him, dont watch the fucking video
@mark110295 Yea, and he started growing a natural full head of hair too. The fact is, England is a degenerate nation and the British are a degenerate people. This guy's career has tanked, and he is a laughingstock. Let's leave it at that.
@waffleownage When you get knighted , which is never , then maybe you can have enough room to talk about those who are & were knighted like Sir Elton John who you may view as less worthy of than you in the ranks. Jealous fool ....
@dmfdmf3 Your a predatory of You Tube. There must be a stereotype specifically for you & your jealous , Elton John envious filled , self loathing debacle of disposition somewhere in here...

@mark110295 Yea, and he started growing a natural full head of hair too. The fact is, England is a degenerate nation and the British are a degenerate people. This guy's career has tanked, and he is a laughingstock. Let's leave it at that.

@dmfdmf3 Damn if they knighted laughing stocks then everyone would be a "Sir"
waffleownage 1 year ago
@waffleownage When you get knighted , which is never , then maybe you can have enough room to talk about those who are & were knighted like Sir Elton John who you may view as less worthy of than you in the ranks. Jealous fool ....
robbrichter2010 1 year ago
@robbrichter2010 I was not calling Elton John (or any other person who has been knighted) a laughing stock, I was doing the exact opposite
