  • i have a 89 camaro and i want to put a ls1 engine can i just use the origanal motor mounts or do i have to change them so the engine would fit its a 305 engine want to swap it but i dont know if i could use the same motor mount.

  • @RCSMAXX you need custom ls1 motor mounts, search the forums on thirdgen.org

  • At hawksthirdgenparts the stock ls3 you can buy is rated at 430 horepower. This is the same setup i want for my 82 Z28!

  • how much have you spent on the swap with parts, fabrication, and installation? i wanna do that swap on my 83 z28.

  • nice swap. How much did it run you? How much do you think an LS1 swap would cost with only the mods required to put it in a thirdgen?

  • Bitch'n swap. Around how much did you put into this? I have an LS1 from a Firebird that I'm going to rebuild and drop into a 3rd Gen as well, and any help would be awesome.

  • Can't beat the LOOKS of the TPI motor, can't beat the PERFORMANCE of the LS motor! Well done, the TPI motor did look a ton better though, lol.

  • i made two of those

  • im looking to do that myself

  • i have a 91 z28 also!

  • nice thats how it done, ive always wanted a 3rd gen but didnt like the motors, and the ls1 is def a fix to that, hell yeah

  • nice job that is one nice project

  • so fricken sexy

  • sir i want to shake your hand beautiful job i damn near cried it was so nice well not realy cry but damn i had a big ass grin

  • I'd drive it.

  • this is soo bad ass..good job man

  • What song is that? Its pretty addicting music :P

  • damn..nice work. im actually looking for an Ls1 for my 90 camaro rs too..where did you find that? ive been looking at junkyards but havent found anything worth my while

  • check gm's performance website

  • where did you buy those headers

  • I got most of the parts, including the headers at hawksthirdgenparts(dot)com

  • intense is the word brother, idk if u've already answered this but were you able to get mounts for this swap or u fabbed something up .. nice work

  • what is the difference on hp in a ls1 an a 350

  • Stock 350TPI was about 245HP I think. I haven't dynoed this LS1, but I think stock its low 300s, so who knows with the head/cam swap.

  • That cars nasty i have a third gen and a fourth gen with a ls1..the 305/350 where under powered unless built up. What a great way to enhance a thirg gen..you will see 315/320 to the wheels cuz there 305 flywheel HP stock dynod 285 wheel stock so ya

  • @netburnr With the cam being as small as it is, i would say about 425 RWHP. Right?? Mine with stock ported head and a much larger custom cam, made 462RWHP on a 2000 SS M6.

  • @netburnr 245Hp for a 91 350tpi, and with all the heads and cam swap plus the headers you should be above 400Hp but i wouldnt be surprised if it was a lot more than that.

  • @netburnr you should be close to 400 bhp easily with a head cam swap on an ls1, i bet that thing moves when you stick it. LS series of engines are some of the best out there.

  • How much of the wireing do you have to change i got the same car year and model camaro if you gotta change out all the wiring the never mind just be nice to have a newer motor that you can get really good HP out of

  • Wiring is one of the trickier parts. Technically there are 8 wires from the new wiring harness/ecm for the motor to run, but in my case there were a lot more wires since I wanted everything to work like stock. The only thing I don't have is the cruise control.

  • how many hours did it take to swap? im getting ready to swap out a v6 in my 98 camaro and wanting to put in a ls1. and is the wiring that hard of a task do complete?

  • wow that sounds real bad ass you said the swap can be done for about 6 racks is that including new tranny

  • It can be done for 6k, I spent more than that. 3k for engine/tranny/wiring/ecm, another 3k in swap parts is easily doable

  • idk if u answered this already but how muhc what it cost for a 3rd gen to get an ls1 swap.

  • It can be done for as little as 6k and the sky is the limit. I spent about 8k on mine.

  • ohhh man that sounds pretty fucking mean!

  • Great Work!! LS1 Never Disappoints! PS: Whats the name of the song in the background??

  • I Want You (Las Vegas Edit) - Essential House. Its a great song. :)

  • hey does ne one of a website or a place where i can get some t-tops 4 my third gen.

  • hawksthirdgenparts(dot)com should have them. Check thirdgen(dot)org classifieds as well.

  • Bad ass man. Whats the story with the headers? What did you have to do to make them fit?

  • Got them from hawksthirdgenparts dot com, they are made by stainless works specifically for LS1 third gen conversions. Pricey, but the only option unless you want to make your own

  • nice, you'll enjoy that ls1, I know I do

  • Yeah when you turn the key and it fires right up after all that work makes you nut in your pants!!! Awsome car.

  • you guys are nutzzzzzzzzzzz fucking awsome

  • Man, that is one sweet ass swap. I just helped my buddy put a temporary T-5 in his car, and i know how much of a feeling of accomplishment you must be experiencing rigt now :)

  • bravo brother bravo
