  • This helps, but the clue to the song is to know that there are 5/4 in a bar, like in "take five".

    it is kind of: 1 - 3 4 5 1 - 3 4 5 with accents on 1 and 4.

    Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • buddy it's good, but you must to be careful with the tempo and song's metric (5/4) 5/4 is hard to play, so is need to try so hard to get better. Anyway, congratulation, the chords are so good, you have a good "musical ear"

  • It really helps to know this song is in 5/4 time. Count that out as go and it will make a lot more sense. 1-2-3-4-5, 1-2-3-4-5 and so on.

  • i REALLY cant figure out the strumming pattern

    can someone help me out???...please?

  • The song is in 5/4 so there will be ten beats per chord, which makes for a relatively unusual strum pattern. In the verse play the notes in the video, and you play 1 2 & & 4 5 &. In the chorus and the bridge he uses DDUUDDU which is counted 1 2 & & 4 5 & again. Hope that makes a little bit of sense. It's difficult to type out, so cut me a little slack.

    for the f and g, i think it may be played just a bit differently. by putting another finger on the 'A 'string on the same fret as the d string....(so 3rd fret for f, and 5th for g) then deaden the E....or use your thumb for the bass note. .... i couldn't tell for sure, but it's all in the way an individual chooses. but yeah, good video

  • Takamine EAN10c. It's the closest available model to Glen's NP15, which was 100% the reason I got it.

  • Thanx for the video man. Though I had already known the chords, until I was unsure of the order of playing the strings in the verses.

    Since you like Glen & Mara along with the The Frames, I suggest having a listen to David Gray. His music is great and for the most part, very simple to play.

  • Getting down the 5/4 part was definitely one of the hardest parts of this song. Just practice tapping your foot to it and counting "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 1...." Once you've got that, I just practiced strumming while driving with the CD in and this helped a ton. Getting down that fast "ba da bum" strum between chords in the chorus gets easier that way. I still air strum even now when I listen to it, haha. I LOVE this song. Lemme know if there's anything I can do for ya.

  • Did you mean to type another song, because Say It To Me Now is 100% in open E tuning, no doubt about it. I thought you might have meant When Your Mind's Made Up since you posted on it's page, but I tried it and it made me cringe, haha. Lemme know :)
