This is one of the best vids Ive seen of Cruyff so far, amazing player... its impossible to say which player is the best ever, the usual top 3 are Pele, Cruyff & Maradona, they all had their own style & none of them was clearly ahead of the other so its a matter of preference probably, Im not saying Cruyff was outright the best ever but I will say this, no player was ever his superior, he was as complete as they have ever came & fully deserved his European player of the century award in 1999.
Cruijff is amazing. Ronaldo today does some stupid moves with the ball that dont work then he loses the ball. Cruijff actually beat many players and doesnt lose it he keeps going. This is evident in this vid.

I used to love Cruijff, from having seen him play for the L.A. Aztecs and the Washington Diplomats against the N.Y. Cosmos, and later finding out just how much he had revolutionized the game.

Cruyff was such an incredible player in my opinion. Pele is definetly the greatest striker that's ever lived with over 1200 goals to his name but in sheer honesty, I think Cruyff just edges it for me, but that's my opinion because I like the way he played more, but it's so close. He's probably the greatest captain ever to not win the World Cup. But don't forget Di Stefano who I think was better than Maradona because he wasn't a filthy cheat. We needed him last summer AAAARGH..Holland missed something in the offense. Van Persie and Huntelaar were hopelessly out of shape. Elia and Robben were doing well, but we needed more than that. @cleber11 Actually, Cruijff didn't play at the '70 World Cup, because Holland didn't qualify. Cruijff didn't play in the 50's, en only made his debut in 1965. He was the best in the 70's. Few people will argue that.

The most innovative and complete player yet.Maradonna is my all time favourite but he wasn't as well rounded and complete as cruyff.South america has two of the greatest ever in Pele and Maradonna but Europe has two of the most complete in Cruyff and bekenbauer who were both succesfull as players and managers.Cruyff with Barcelona and Bekenbauer with Germany.

Probably the best of the modern era but i still don't think as well rounded as cruyff.Attacking and creativity wise certainly.Defensive and tactically not so sure.Zidane was very comfortable with the ball on either foot, a must for a total footballer, good vision and touch and could head the ball as well.But most modern day players that play the free role position don't have the defensive skills to match their attacking skills, instead teams use a holding midfielder player for the defending.

@HighlightsOfSoccer I don't think it's any different, because the strikers now receive special training and stuff, and now a days the defenders cannot foul you as much as when Pele, Best and Maradona played.
But you're right, it is impossible to tell who is better, because it's all opinion, like I think Best and Cryuff were the greatest, because they are my favourites and they done ridiculous dribbles, but someone else might prefer Ronaldo or Pele. So I just like to love all footballers : )

I would like to see Cruyff do the same skills to a modern day defense, look at most of the defenders from the era, no one really tracked him, they came in for a sliding tackle & he read that every time & went past them, either that or they would just stick out a leg & get stuck in that position giving him time to run around them. Footballers have changed a lot now, especially the way they defend, that is why it is even more impressive when you get a player such as Messi who does it in our era.
