2:29 JJW does have a lot of muscle for his lungsize compared to RM. JJW is trying to rope-a-dope RM. He has probably been waiting to take the opening for the left uppercut to RM's hanging head for many rounds now...

oh they just mentioned his age, but still he's champ its not made a big deal of the way they make it out to be today, people calling 38 year olds washed up these days, plus boxing was more brutal in this era so guys like walcott (who fought louis twice and rocky twice, although this was only the first, he did get fucked in the second fight but still) these guys were fucking hoss's

hate to take up so much room, but think about how old walcott is, people used to die in their fifties and sixties in this era in america, so he is in the latter stages of middle age, i think in todays living, by a healthy person (not a typical fucking american) he would be around 48 or 50 cos people live longer, now think about it people say mosely is washed up and shit, people said ali was washed at 32 against foreman, proved wrong, but still, no mention of walcott's age in this fight

Have you watched this fight at all, that man there 50 years old? yeah right...

People on average live longer but 80 years old is considered a quite old age to die for a man even in today.

you know what blows me out? the way sports, as a rule have evolved over the years, look at american football from the fifties, its like a totally different sport than it is today. baseball and basketball too, i don't know if i've ever seen a footer match from this era, but likely its changed too, boxing, however, this match w/ rocky's pursuit and power is not all that different from tyson fights or more modern fights, the styles have evolved a bit, but by and large it is the same sport as always

@jrgniuwer they are a coupla ripped guys no? marciano looks way more ripped than many of the boxers of the era. i know walcott is "bigger" but its bulk, rocky has a relatively small frame that is just packed w/ muscle, not quite as much as tyson, but then who is as ripped as tyson? i give the edge to tyson because of his speed and defense (head movement) in his prime. plus tyson outweighs him by a wide margin and as a result he could probably back rock up all night.

@RapedByRepublicans i know what your saying but remember heavyweights were alot smaller and lighter then, if marciano was a fighter today he would prob of wieghed 200-220lbs and be bit taller and training methods were different, what if marciano was trained by cus today? and adapted to his style and techniqe?

@RapedByRepublicans usually black people tend to be more muscular than europeans and other white people, Rocky just had more fat under his skin, but it doesn´t for sure mean he wasn´t ripped, for the era, Rocky was training really hard and there were no protein cocktails and stuff, just good old eggs and if you wanted to have strength, you had to eat alot. Not like a chicken steak + pills and proteins today, but really big meals :D well heh :)

@RapedByRepublicans Tyson trained with weights, Rocky did not. And for those that doubt this, you can see him doing military presses in some of his training videos as well as squats with weights!

Walcott looked a little fresher for the 10th, after looking like a beaten fighter before that. He left the 10th looking like a beaten figher too. He just can't match Marciano's stamina and relentless punishment. Then again, who could?

It's clear, Rocky was still dangerous, as Louis, unfortunately for Walcott!

Great classic fight. Rock had an incredible capacity to absorb punishment and come back. Never saw a more determined fighter.

He was blinded in his right eye and couldn't see from his left eye, due to a 1964 injury and his face was completely swollen and during Round 13 his mouthpiece was knocked off by an Ali right hook, so he kept taking hard shots right on his front teeth

Yet he had the will to continue the fight and wanted to knock Ali out, but his corner stopped him. Now that's heart you won't find anywhere, not even in Rocky

How do you define what Marciano would do? He fought with a nose completely split in half.

Frazier didn't resist when his corner stopped the fight in Manila, by the way.

Again, not that Frazier didn't have heart, he had plenty, but to say he had more than Marciano is baseless, factually inaccurate, and without substance.

His nose was split in half by Ezzard Charles, but that fight was over in 8 rounds and his eyes were still intact, while Joe couldn't see. Eddie Futch held one finger and asked Joe: 'How many fingers am I holding up?' and Joe said '5'.

And the heat in Manila was like hell. His face was bruised all over. He did 14 rounds and demanded to continue. He didn't resist? He resisted like hell and he was pissed like hell after the fight. He has more heart than any fighter in history.

@truebeliever786 The reality is, Marciano never quit. Split nose bleeding so profusely that the ref almost stopped the fight trumps swollen eyes, which almost everyone gets.

Actually, watch Frazier in his corner after the 14th. He was obviously fine with the decision. He didn't make a big fuss, not should he have. He was beaten, and had no chance. But, the point is, you can never say he is better than someone that never quit. How do you know Marciano's limit? He never quit.

Frazier's nose was also badly damaged, plus, as I said, the rematch between Marciano and Ezzard Charles ended in Round 8 anyway. The 'Thrilla in Manila' went on for 14 rounds. Frazier made a huge fuss about it.

Look at the video. He literally starts shouting at Eddie Futch saying: 'NO! NO!'. He wanted to continue, in the blazing heat of Manila with his eyes shut and face half broken. Now that's heart you won't find anywhere.

@truebeliever786 You're making a logical fallacy. First, I don't think Frazier protested that much, but the fallacy in your argument is simply you have no idea where Marciano's limit was. He never quit, despite being butchered in some fights.

Some guys quit, like Frazier did, in a subtle way. They will keep fighting, but they stop trying to win, and accept they can't. Marciano ended the fight in the 8th, it didn't end by itself.

Frazier had a ton of heart, but you can't say more.

It doesn't matter what you think. The fact is Frazier protested like hell man. See the video. He starts shouting at Eddie Futch not to stop it.

Frazier never quit a fight. In Manila he was forced against his will. Against Foreman, he kept getting up and up until the ref stopped it.

Marciano did end the fight in 8th but a lot of people suspect that Ezzard Charles let him win because he was afraid he might have ended up killing him and he didn't want that, since it happened before.

Calm down man, there's no need to insult. I'm not saying Charles let Marciano win.

I said people suspect this. I personally, don't buy that, I think Marciano won fair and square.

But I've got your point Marciano had a ton of heart, but so did Frazier. I still say Frazier has more heart than any other fighter in history. Maybe Marciano has just as much, but no one can doubt Frazier's heart and determination.
