Who said it's quiet? You should listen to how my Siemens works... you wouldn't hear any sound at all compared to this one. LG makes fool of you, since direct drive has nothing to do with silence, it's just for commercial.
I'm sorry to say that, but you have wasted your money for this washing box, statistically it works for 2-3 years and than you will have to throw it out and go buy a new one... LG never did good things, from my point of view.

Most good machines now use brushless motors (aka invertor motors). I have a Zanussi 1600rpm which is very quiet :-) My nan has an LG direct drive.
