  • this is awesome!!

I just recently started to cath up on the history of film, and I'm seriously fascinated!!!!!

  • The guy with the axe isn't very good, look at that awful technique!

  • they still do this in Saudi Arabia, en masse

  • Graphic violence circa 1895, I will show to anyone who complains movies are too violent nowadays.

  • Why doesnt someone refilm this and give Casey Anthony an acting part? Except make the sequel a little more realistic? ;-]

  • I read someplace that audience members fainted at the sight of this, it just never occured to them that it was a dummy.Oh those silly victorians!

  • Tremendous special effects ... For those days ...

  • So, is this the first R-rated film?

  • oh i see the change to the dummy, thats a very cute imagination they had back then.

  • whats funny is that if they could have recorded the moment they would have,, sick,, good thing we arent so barbaric as the people of the past,, well i hope not anyway,,lol

  • fake!!!! At 0:10 they switched the body with a dummy!

  • pwned.

  • Wow the axe got to be sharp like hell for it to just slice off her head with some gravitational help.

  • Nice, grab her head and shove it on your penis to do blowjobs ;P

  • this wasnt real? dammit!

  • Mary Queen of Scotts died in the Elizabethan age, in the 1500's... after she plotted Queen Elizabeths assassination.

  • this is fake see 0:09 there is edition in video

  • @robinbansal96 Thats why the description says its staged lol

  • @flute1234 ops i didnt see that

  • Палач как-то коряво саданул...

  • The world's first rated-R film.

  • en el tiempo 0:10 se ve que cambiaron a la persona por un maniqui ,tan solo observen en el brazo y es mas largo

  • You'll notice the camera blink just before the ax falls, and the players show a slight shift in position, but I got to give them credit for 1895, and it looked pretty darn real the first couple of times I looked. It must have moved audiences back then too.

  • @Cynthia95ish Like made them all go fucking crazy thinking an actress killed herself just to be in a movie!?

  • ...and Edison's new technology was immediately used to depict violence.

  • @C0LL1N Of course! THats just the way people are ;)

  • i say bring back beheadings.... medieval style

  • fake and gay......oh wait, its the wrong century lol

  • They might as well have executed her. Mary Queen of Scots was born in 1542, so when this movie was made she was 353 years old. No wonder she didn't bleed.

  • yes its fake!

  • OMG...I HOPE THIS ISN'T FOR REAL, BUT THEN BACK IN THOSE DAYS THATS IS WHAT THEY USED TO DO. SO I DON'T KNOW.

  • first fake video of all time hahahahah

  • IMDB:A short film depicting the execution of Mary, Queen of the Scots. Mary is brought to the execution block and made to kneel down with her neck over it. The executioner lifts his axe ready to bring it down. After that frame Mary has been replaced by a dummy. The axe comes down and severs the head of the dummy from the body. The executioner picks up the head and shows it around for everyone else to see. One of the first 'camera tricks' to be used in a movie. Written by Sujit R. Varma

  • @viniciusctba The guillotine is much more useful if you really are to be beheaded..that way there can't be mistakes..what if the executioner doesnt do the job properly..you will end up suffering even more ..imagine the pain..:(

  • too bad acmadethenut didn't have that happen to him

  • the day started off badly for her, but she eventualy came out a HEAD

  • Do they have REAL VIDS LIKE THIS ON YOUTUBE?

  • Ironic how far we've come, isn't it? And I don't get why the 13 dislikes, is it too gore for you?

  • fake!!!

  • @rave0973 You FUCKING THINK!? Idiot.

  • @MrSaturn33 Fuck yourself! Coward and Idiot!

  • Christianity is evil.

  • @Omarhada

no this is reserved for Islam =)

  • @Omarhada this video is fake, damn, people from 115 years ago are still fooling people today, is it because people were overall smarter back then? or is it because your retarded

  • well... for that time it was really good

  • Clearly, horror films have been around since the very beginning.

  • I guess he was exerimenting stop motion

  • this IS real, it was filmed in 1587

  • @sexpistol66 motion pictures didn't exist in 1587!!!

  • This is hilarious.

  • It was just a reinactment, its not fake its like a historical movie.

  • I can help but think of the Monty Python skit right now....

    "Im not dead!"

  • FAKE but funny

  • A 1895 reproduction of the execution, produced by Edison Manufacturing Co.

  • rofl she kneels facing forward then she's on her back

  • BIG TIME FAIL!

  • hahaha lol

  • FAIL!!!

  • this was the very first 'movie' to use actors

  • Bad quality fake movie.

  • it isn't fake, it's reenactment.

  • Fucking pigs dare put an ax on a poor woman's head. They should be burned!

  • Epic fail

  • Oh read your history chickiwawa. Come on.

  • @chickiwawa its FAKE

  • in the sequel the queen comes back alongside with luther king and destroy all their family from the future

  • LOL, he didn't chop the head off, he just pushed the the rest of the body of the mannequin away and downward so the head would be free to fall. They could have just used a thread.

  • they got the dummy the wrong way round lol!

  • hey for back then those special fx are the shit.

  • so Mary Queen of Scots was just a mannequin with a detachable head? Who knew?? lol

  • hahahaha

  • Great! you can imagine this film (could be) was from 16th century, people are dressing like that (even for them those were old clothes lol), obviously it's from 1985 when my great great grandfather was borning =O

  • Comment removed

  • It's from 1895, not 1985. If this film was from 1985, it would have WAY better quality than something from 1895.

  • hey, I made the correction, that it's from 1895 and not from 1985; I don't know what happened.

That was just a fast-typing mistake.

  • no moron they didnt have video back then

  • uh? you stupid didn't get my ironic comment

  • fake. You can see exactly where the tape was cut to insert the fake head and body.

  • Well yeah, not to mention Mary died like 300 years before this film was made (she was Queen Elizabeth the First's cousin).

  • ...and what did you expect? special effects?? 3D animation?? haha!

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!

hahaha this is awesome, sucks for the lady but...damn... XD

  • Are you people nuts? Mary Queen of Scots was executed in 1587, 400 years before this supposed film was made. Of course it's fake. There was no such thing as filmin the 16th century. I don't know where this film is from. a silent movie maybe>?

  • This is it, this is the film. 5 second films like this is all they had in the 1800's.

  • Yeah, you'd go into a theater and pay 20 bucks to see this.

    (Joke)

  • did anyone ever hear the story of when people saw film for the first time and there was a train and people fled screaming thinking it was going to come out the screen 0.0

  • yeah i heard it

I saw it in "The Invention of Hugo Cabret"

  • I read in autobiographical account called "Barrio Boy" how people got scared during a strom in sea scence and how the owner had to climb up a ladder to hit the scence to show people it was fake. An another account by Marion Davies, William Hearst's mitress, said that people became afraid over the early 3-D movies with an ape. These events happen often around 1910s.

  • @Rawrbecca1992 I've heard that. What a time to be alive. Now people do that when Ben Afleck movies play! DERP!

  • Obviuos trick filmogrophy. At 9-10 seconds the persons head position changes drastically.

  • And they say movies today are violent.......

  • THAT IS SICK !!!

  • Omg

  • Yeah....i´m pretty sure it´s real.

Espacially with that cut right before his takin´the hit with the axe....

    SARCASM ALERT !!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

  • Wow, not fake at all. It looks so real! Did they use CGI for that head rolling away?

  • u fucking stupid bastardas this was fucking made in 1895, its fucking genius, its revolutionary, its different from evry thing, its the birth of evrything, cuas eit was not mad eyesterday, but more that 100 years ago... now you come up with a complete new language as cinema and these pioneering special effects, u fucking losers..

  • First film of a guy getting some head...

  • this is the worsest fake i ever saw

  • And this is the "worsest" grammar i ever saw too. Hilarious! I love reading the post's on youtube & realizing how fucking stupid everyone really is. It amazes me to no end. I guess it's not "cool" to have a fucking brain in ones head. I guess you can thank moronic hip-hop "stars" for the dumbing down of the youth. Kanye West is a perfect example. Derp!

  • shut up you twat fuck face.

  • No...you shut up....jeezus.

  • @sirfinks Couldn't agree with you more but let's fool ourselves and call this a FAKE movie

  • @sirfinks i be a fiddn to re-Ply to you massage.

  • @sirfinks don't you love how 15 arrogant morons thumbed up your comment, "oh, i too agree with this comment, i'm very smart and never make mistakes, especially when on youtube, this comment represents what i'm thinking" it kinda pisses me off sorry

  • that was some shit

  • Apparently people flipped their shit when they saw this in theaters, they thought the actor actually died, even though it's painfully obvious to us that it's just a dummy. First special effects maybe?

  • it's fake !!!

  • I thought the execution of Mary Queen of Scots happened in 1587, long before Edison's Great-Granfather's, Great- Grandfather's, Great-Grandfather was even born.

  • What the hell is edison?

  • lol first u mean who and second ehh he was an inventor but i freakn forgot of what lol

  • Jaruba: Edison invented, the light bulb, ice cream, ski boots and the blackberry

  • ok:P

  • you mean, "who" the hell is edison

  • Pretty good for a 1895 movie.

  • what a fake!!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:11 it looks like a big doll

  • The first ever gore film haha >:D

  • it looks so real that I shit myself

  • It's completely historically inaccurate, as if that mattered - in real life it took half a dozen swings of the axe to get the poor woman's head off and it happened indoors at night (something Edison couldn't have begun to show, given that they hadn't invented movie lights yet!).

And still, it tells us something about the 1890s and Edison that he chose this specific scene to dramatize.

  • watch closely from 00:09 - 00:11,the the video was cut and the womans body was changed into a very dry dummy. no blood at all!!!!

  • @lhoybu bullshat! I saw her die! her head came clean off!

  • @mattybock you're right, clean as in no blood at all, try saudi beheading videos for raw action...

  • cool! I never thought I'd get to see this! this is supposed to be the first special effect on film.

  • o my god they kill kenny

  • that's staged ? no shit !ha ha

  • This is a 1895 reproduction of the historic scene, produced by Edison Manufacturing Co.

  • 2 diferet shoot... I can do this with my Sony and movie maker

    haha

  • its 2 difren shoots, you can see it at 0:09

  • mary queen of scots was executed more than 100 years ago zimant78

  • It's a damn movie, FICTION :D!!!!

  • I like the mysterious teleporting man next to the executioner at 0:11.

  • Stan Winston he is not.

  • fake

  • there was no blood i didn't know that the queens have no blood

    its fuckin fake

  • Mary Queen of Scots, was beheaded in 1587! try 300 years.

Of course it is a fake!

  • It only shows that the camera was invented much earlier than we had thought.

  • yeah especially since mary queen of scots was executed at least 100 years before the film

  • lol, try over 300 years before.

  • you can see it clearly it's a fake

  • quenne of scots and France

  • yay! that just made my day :)

  • did she duck her head behind the block?? good special effects considering this is one of the first movies lol :)

  • no, she didn't duck, they used a dummy. right before the executioner drops his axe, there's a cut to another take but it seems like a single shot because the action is quite consistent. in between those takes they replaced the actor (yes, actor, not an actress :P) with the dummy.

    the technique is called stop-motion.

  • oh, it was an actor cause women werent in films right? sorry, im not up to date in terms of history....

  • wow...its really fascinating how they were able to do this in 1895!!!!! thanks for the info :)

  • yeah, it's really amazing. and the audience back then didn't know anything about filmmaking of course, so they thought the actress really gave her life for the film (like some of the people on YouTube, ironically :P )and they totally freaked out when they saw it.

  • lolllllll i knew it was fake. look at the camera pausing then restarting...

  • Are you the legal guardian of John Connor?

  • Of course it's a fake,Mary Queen Of Scots was beheaded in 1587 !!!

  • lololol

  • Ah Edison (and his assistants who rarely get the credit they deserve!) may have created the first special effects shot but Melies mastered it in the early days of cinema!

    All very interesting stuff though!

  • hay guys look at 0:10 you can see it pause if you look close.

  • yea good catch its kinda subtle so most of us weren't aware, unless your actually looking for it...nice thanks lol

  • ya, thx

  • Mary Queen of Scotts died almost 400 years before this was made. I doubt anyone would recreate it through a real execution.

  • This was the first time they ever used "special effeckts" in a move, or something like that. //Guniess world reckords. Ofc its not for real!

  • perchè quando si china è prona e durante l'esecuzione supina?Che filmato del cazzo

  • There is a theory, that this is the first special effects shot ever filmed.

  • super fake

  • ahead of it's time?

  • That is not real.

  • don't bullshit this is just a camera trick

  • that was fake there was a cut right before the ax came down all the people in the back moved.

    good tho.

  • Well, obviously it was fake. Edison would not want to be slapped with manslaughter, unless this was a snuff film, and those do not exist.

  • they /did/ not exist until edison /invented/ them :P

  • lol

  • I wonder if, back then some people thought it was actual footage? Interesting story, but while I was watching Birth of a Nation, someone asked me if it was actual video from the civil war.

  • back then, many people believed that the actress gave her life for the film.

  • In that age (the 19th Century) they were even closer to Mary Queen of Scots time than we were! (Fascinating, macabre. I love it. Thank you for posting this! An 1895 Edison film-a real treasure!

  • Cool. At the 10 second mark you can see where the actress was replaced with a dummy. Very subtle and well done though, it must have intrigued lots of people in this time period.

  • lmao lmao

at first i was like this is so creepy.

until i remembered...that she wasn't around during film times. So...

then i noticed the change in the film

  • y did dey execute her anyway??

  • Because she plotted against Queen Elizabeth I, during her imprisonment.
