They were my favorite band in those days and this album their best. They influenced me greatly, in particular, the aggressive up front bass playing. I was at an impromptu memorial service for Otis Reading (a college thing) when the eulogies ended and we were asked if anyone had anything to say. A Finish kid from my dorm stood up and said, "Well, there's always Country Joe!"
Im tripping and heres a warning for you all do not look at this album cover tripping. for a second i thought i was the album cover. It was doing all kinds of stuff and then i look at faces and they just started grinning at me. Weird.
@MrPinkfloydfan420 Sounds like you were on one of your first intense trips. I know that feeling. It's beautiful, and yet frightening. The album cover is awesome, though. Just keep the vibes good, and fear out.
that 's the one I love the most from this band .it brings me to unknown shorelines...And the melody goes so deep in my body the guitar solo is one of the most inspired I have heard
Don't beleive the bullshit about blestemp's interpertation of what he thinks Country Joe&the Fish's name is derived from! That's strictly his version of what he thinks! The music and meaning of the band speaks for itself! I don't think stalin and mao (two of the biggest mass murderers of the 20th century) would agree with their philosophy in any way, shape or form! By the way, I'm not the only one who has said this.......Peace & Love to all!
i heard this album for 2 days continously leaving my blues albums aside.......and heard this song 50 odd times the nxt day......its makes me high without alcohol, joints or acid.....i just listend to CJ & F and kept listening to it when i realised its 3 in the noon.........this album is best psychedelic album ive ever listened to......it really makes u high without ne thing i just have the curiousity what would it do to me when i would listen to this on an acid drop xD!!
its fucking awesom man. everything twirls and melts to the beat of the music and the keyboard sounds make everything so much more fucking visual. Take as many trips as you can afford and you will just slip into another fucking world with no worries or problems
Wow! What telestranporter is this? I think the band I played in in high school actually played this tune. I saw the fish in Boston in August in 1967, about 2 months from their appearance at Monterey. thanks for the memories, SB
This is definitely a sick fuckin song. I was looking at Peter Krug's "Johnny's Gone in the War" and remembered about all the CJ&F songs... Death Sound Blues, this, Flying High, Bass Strings. This one has to be the most fucked though man, i just sat here mad baked listening to this blasting and it definitely fucked with my head for a sec.

Electronic music for the mind and body -- that was an album. I still have a copy. This was one of my favorite songs from that.
