You can be in the shape of an Olympian and not pass SEAL training, I think the instructors would break you pretty quick, you'll be ringing that bell in no time.

If you want to get a taste of military life without putting your back to the wall by diving right in, part time military gigs like ROTC, National Guard, and Reserves can give you that.

im deffinitely gettin them to pay but i haven't decided if i want to do ROTC cause im goin to work in the summers on off shore charter boats as a 1st mate..thought being a boat captain would be a great job after retiring from the military. i wouldnt have time to do NG or reserves if i wanted to go to BUD/s cause of the 28 year old age limit...id be what like 23 when i graduate from college...what happens if i dont make it on the first try because of injury, i need some time to recover & retry
BUD/s is tough but US military training is just meant to be harder than actual combat and they try their best to keep you from hurting yourself. If you do get hurt than you are getting paid to heal.

yep, im in great shape and i have a friend who was an aircrew rescue diver who says he thinks i have wha it takes mentally and physically. he couldnt be a SEAL because of his vision but mines perfect so thats not holding me back. another friends going to annapolis now and thinks i can do it too. hes tryin soon and he was the state champ swimmer in some category here and 3rd in another category

Have you read "Lone Survivor-the Eyewitness account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10" by Marcus Luttrell?
That gives a very detailed account of initial SEAL training and how extremely tough it is, also the deadly battle they get involved in in Afghanistan is a study of the heroic bravery of the four SEALS and the experience of the one survivor of the battle, I highly recommend this book.

Not really. My younger brother (that went to Iraq with me) just graduated and got his commission as an LT in 3 years.
If you want to get a taste of military life without putting your back to the wall by diving right in, part time military gigs like ROTC, National Guard, and Reserves can give you that.
Why go to school on your own dime when the industry you want to get into is willing to basicly pay you to go to school ?

im deffinitely gettin them to pay but i haven't decided if i want to do ROTC cause im goin to work in the summers on off shore charter boats as a 1st mate..thought being a boat captain would be a great job after retiring from the military. i wouldnt have time to do NG or reserves if i wanted to go to BUD/s cause of the 28 year old age limit...id be what like 23 when i graduate from college...what happens if i dont make it on the first try because of injury, i need some time to recover & retry

BUD/s is tough but US military training is just meant to be harder than actual combat and they try their best to keep you from hurting yourself. If you do get hurt than you are getting paid to heal.
You have to commit to some form of service if you want the government to pay a single penny for your college.
My brother went to Thailand for an ROTC thing last summer. He is going some place else that I'd love to go to too pretty soon.

This is why I'm fine with being anti-war. If I were pro-war, I'd only be a hypocrite, as I'd never be able to die for some "larger" purpose. Especially one that isn't clear until decades later. Chickenhawks are the worst of men; trumpeting war while hiding in a corner.

In this case, chickenhawk, refers to a person who supports a war, but refuses to enlist and fight in it. college republicans are old enough to serve but wont do it because they have to fight the "culture war" or they have "a medical issue" Older chickenhawks are old men who spout war, war, and more war, but are too old to serve, and most likely never have served in the military.

Not everyone is cut out for the military. To support the military or a war doesn't mean you have to be in it. You are SO dumb! If our military is cut to the part some foreign country takes over (which I think you hope for) and they start putting you in jail for anything, you will be SCREAMING that we need a military and hope to go back to the "old days".

I saw the video featuring that Mattera guy, he said that he wouldnt serve because he had to stay in the U.S. and fight the "culture war" Its probably easier for him to have a bruised ego than have a limb blown off. Mattera and people like him are cowardly scum. As for myself, Im not going to lie, I would be terrified if I had to fight in iraq.

I had this repub hawk try top tell me how placing a yellow ribbon or a patriotic ribbon will show the company that I work for that I am not liberal thus i would get invited to some of the functions.
