  • Hey when were you on Mars huh? lol! awesome is the word.

  • whats your flight time and power setup .

  • I new you would say that, but that's OK I'm working with Read Made RC they are good people to work with but keep making your videos and I will keep watching, great job by the way! it makes me feel like I'm there! but you are good! have a great day!

  • @Soldier53flyer I only have one way of retiring old gear, and that's running it until it dies or is destroyed. :) My old gear becomes backup gear in case my new gear meets an untimely end. It's a standard FPV setup. Get on RCGroups and start doing research on FPV. There's a lot of information out there.

  • Nice!!!!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • Breathtaking dynamic beauty!

  • very nice..... Adios

  • Ya' at' eeh' my friend. Hope all is well! I was wondering if you could post a detailed video of your fpv setup. I am wanting to build mine just like yours and I already have the Lawmate 1.2ghz 1,000mw plug and play system. Or maybe email me a list of the items. peoplesm44@yahoo.com Any info would help! Whens the next video comin??? ;-)

  • Bravo!

  • Stunning cinematography! What motor? What battery? How long can you fly on one battery? Which Lawmate? 1.2ghz 1000mw?

  • How far is the range you have from the remote to the plane...?

  • this should be in an iMax theater!

  • @fndu8s AGREED!

  • It looks like a movie !

  • this is a little airplane '<'??

  • Congratulations. You just overtook BBC's hundred thousand dollar bird's pov camera rig with this.

  • excellent!...

  • Hi... Congrats.. Its Amazing!

    Just a question..

are you using some video stabilizer?

  • @rodrigomisterm Yes, some shots there is wind bouncing the plane producing shaky video, so I use After Effects stabilization to clean some of that up. Because the camera uses a wide-angle lens, it's difficult to stabilize the video without causing distortion on the edge of the frame, which you'll sometimes see as terrain or clouds appear to bend a bit. But it's a trade-off, bouncy video or slightly deformed video? It's just a lot easier to watch when it's stabilized, IMO.

  • That was Awesome!. Should be longer :) I'll be there in late April with FPV gear...cant wait!

  • @Crashz9 Let me know when you're coming and where you'll be staying, maybe we can hook up and fly together. I'm always looking for another excuse to get out and fly!

  • Wonderful!

Needs to be at Least 3 Hours Longer!

    I Want More!

    Thank You for The Ride!!

  • Beautifully done video. Great job!!!

  • Love it, there are some great angles !

  • Goosebumps is right. I've probably watched 20,000 youtube vids and never commented on a single one, but felt compelled to comment on this one. It's absolutely amazing! I've seen this part of Utah from the ground, but seeing it from the sky, along with the beautiful music, is stunning. Looking forward to more.

  • BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE IT! :-)

  • top job on the flying skills and footage , I see the go pro has the reflective problem with the lens when looking into the sun . still produces a nice clear picture though . it looks great on the 55inch plasma anyway.

  • @monjon868 Thanks. Yeah, the GoPro 2 is a massive improvement over the original Hero though, the lens optics are totally different. You'll still get a sun glow with strong streak of light, but you don't get all the circular lens artifacts and blowout that the first camera had. So it's much much improved for clarity. Personally I didn't mind the lens flare on the Hero1, it was interesting to see, but it'd overpower the scenery.

  • Very nice. Change the music and Trappy has a contender ;)

  • Beautiful! Great flying! When I'm in the neighborhood...

  • w o w I want a set up like this! thanks for sharing!

  • how can someone dislike this video? idiots everywhere...

this video is outstanding, congrats men, loved the train scene, just awesome video!

  • Impresionante!!!! Awesome!!!!!

  • AMAZING!!!! this shoult have at least 1 million views not 5000 wtf

  • @orandaboy Well I certainly agree! It's only been online for about a week, so it's not terribly bad, but please feel free to pass it around! And tell everybody who's interested in videos like this to subscribe to my channel. :) Maybe someday!

  • Hats off to you!! Words can't describe the beauty of that video... Epic.

  • What the hecks that factory doing there

  • @thatstheguy07 If I'm not mistaken, that's the potash plant just outside Moab. In another shot, you can see the blue and white settling ponds (for potash).

  • @psounder DING DING DING!!! We have a winner!

  • @thatstheguy07 It's a coal processing plant, they pack coal on trains and ship it to the power plant where it generates the juice I'm using to write this reply.

  • Very well done. Great flying and awesome footage!

  • Awesome, just awesome!

  • I have a mothership 83" epp w/ hyperion Z3025-6 ... 80% compleated, This is the Inspiration to follow your magnificent work. looks like I need a gopro too. Beautiful Holidays to you and your family. You are The cinematographer !

  • supa kool

  • I wonder what might happen if you recorded at 60hz with a fixed white balance (outdoor, instead of auto). This might reduce some of the jello effect and the color shifts on the dives after you go through the notch. But these are mere quibbles to an amazing video.

  • This is probably the absolute best FPV video I have seen yet - (Watching from fpvlabs.com of course) - Awesome job!!

  • @scottturchin Thanks Scott! I really appreciate it! Share it around with your friends! And don't forget to subscribe, there's more great stuff coming! -Todd

  • @toddsher2112 I've got my Zephyr II build going, FPV gear ordered - hope to show you some Olympic Mtns when I get flying...:)

  • @scottturchin Let me know when you're ready! I'll come join you! I love the Olympics, and I've been looking for an excuse to get back up to Port Angeles and Sequim!

  • @toddsher2112 I'm heading up there tomorrow morning to pick up my brother, I'll take some pics on the way up, take the go-pro maybe..Look for it on FPVLabs.com :)

  • the platform seems extremely stable! Thumbs up!!!!

  • Great scenery, and great flying! Wonder how big are the quarries in the United States...

  • Im White Mountain Apache and alil Yaqui and Ojibwe. Yeah I understand it sucks. Like I told nemesis4343 if you ask the tribe or tribal government most likely they will say yes. That is if it is for research or the video being a gift to the tribe/nation. As far as state and national parks go well I think your Dragonlink longrange system with a RTH and GoogleEarth would do just fine. Just dont make it obvious what your doing. Where are you from my friend???

  • Absolutely love it! Thank you so much for sharing. I look forward to seeing more Bird's Eye Videos in the future!!!

  • what is your setup on your grim reaper?

  • @nonamerc This is not the Grim Reaper, it's a new larger plane called the Reaper XL. CrashTestHobby will begin selling it here very soon. I would wait for this larger plane if you're doing FPV. The Grim Reaper is a bit too small to carry all the gear and maintain good flight characteristics.

I'm using Lawmate Video Gear, Dragon Link UHF Gear, and the Hero 2 camera, with a Vee antenna on the plane, and BiQuad / Patch diversity on the ground. Still experimenting with antennas.

  • @toddsher2112

Did you have any OSD with GPS? What was your AUW?

Epic video with a soundtrack to match! The best FPV video I've ever seen so far...

  • @jvyv Yes, I use DragonLabs products. The control is DragonLink. The OSD is DragonOSD (or DOSD V2+) with the stock GPS unit. Just under 5 lbs.

  • @jvyv BTW, thanks. Really glad you like it. Subscribe so you can get notices of future releases. The next one will be posted on Monday, and it's awesome!

  • Incredible --- Phantastic ---Thankyou !!!

  • I absolutely loved it, Todd. Being an FPV addict myself, I cant get enough of FPV flying and FPV videos. Especially ones of this caliber. I take my hat off to you, sir!

  • WOW!!! My friend Ive been waiting for more people to post some videos of these places. Being of Native descent Ive often wondered what my homeland looked like from the sky. I felt as if I was a bird searching for a nest in this vast canyon land. I myself am building my fpv system and would love to learn your setup. Have some questions about the dragonlink. Let me know and thankyou so much for this amazing and beautiful video. You are so talented and have great skill. keep up the great work!!!!

  • @IjusWanaFly83 What tribe are you from? I wish the government didn't own so much of the beautiful land and prohibit flying over it. All of the national parks are off-limits to FPV flying, and there are some pretty steep fines for doing it. It's ridiculous. It's a dream of mine to head down to Monument Valley and get Birds Eye Video of the beautiful Navajo Tribal lands that I saw a few years back when I went down for the Red Bull Air Races.

  • this is superb, very professional and enjoyable footage.

  • You know how I feel about this video Todd, so impressive. Ross

  • Great video, superb skills! But why ist the video so stuttering? Have you used diffferent fps rates in your cutting program?

  • @Prometreus - the video is silky smooth from where I am sitting. Most likely your PC is struggling to replay at the highest resolution.

@toddsher2112 - this is awesomely epic! What a stage in which to perform...

  • @nstaib No, the PC has no Problem with HD at all, the CPU is completely relaxed. My monitor runs at 60Hertz. Which fps settings have you chosen in your render configuration? Which fps rate was chosen in the gopro/camcorder settings? Dont you see the flickering when the picture pans?

  • @Prometreus

To me it looks like the clips that have jerky pans are slowed down. I fly GoPro's and DSLR's on multirotors and see the "flickering"/ jerky pan alot on fast pans that are significantly slowed down. It is due to the slow frame rate 30fps. I even see it at 60fps. The best thing that can be done about it is panning slower. Or, try to fix it in post.

  • that was outstanding!!! lots of skill to get away with that

  • freakin spectacular thats the best video of not just fpv but anything I've ever seen. awesome !!!!

  • Thanks for the astonishingly great video, but can you help me with finding this music? you said it's by E.S. Posthumus, but does it have a name? Thanks!

  • @wiiomatic

Song is "Nasivern Pi" from Cartographer Album.

  • @toddsher2112

Thanks for your help! I'd gone through everything and missed it. Keep producing these, they're great!

  • Love it, if only my dreams were that vivid I would never want to wake up.

  • my god man, it is just beautiful.

    enjoy the FPV :)

  • Oh !! Very nice indeed.

Most definitely - "The Most Beautiful Aerial Desert Flying EVER!"

Merry Christmas and best wishes for the coming New Year 2012 ............. :-)

  • Does your 2.4 transmitter have a capacitor on it?

  • This is amazing. Great job with the shots, the editing and the flying. I am wow'd.

  • My jaw hit the keyboard in the first sequence. Beautiful music, great job of flying, very creative edit, this video has a majestic feel to it that must be worthy of some award. i love the train flyby especially, and the video at the end of the river scene. Just an amazing project well done, and Im off to google E.S. Posthumus to find some music for my videos. :-)

  • Awesome. What kind of cam do you use?

  • @aprepo HD footage is shot with the GoPro Hero2. The ground-based shots of my plane are shot with a professional Sony camera, and there are a couple of chase shots (where I bank away from the rock and another plane follows) that was shot by my friend on a Go Pro Hero Original at a lower resolution. But it was so cool I had to include it. My live video camera (the one I view from while flying) is a PIXIM Seawolf.

  • @toddsher2112 Why doesn't anyone use the Go Pro as the fpv cam?

  • @MotherPlaneRC Actually, a lot of people do use the GoPro as an FPV cam, but it introduces a slight delay in the video, which is not good when flying close to the ground. A quarter second delay could be deadly. But it works great if you have a stable plane or multicopter that's not getting quite so close to the terrain. They made the GoPro Hero2 very easy to set up live video out.

  • this is amazing just like all your vids

i just got my gopro 2 today and cant wait but i live in ireland so will not be as awsem as your vids lol WELLDONE

  • Thanks guys! Glad everybody likes it. It was a lot of work to put together, it means a lot when people enjoy it so much. Hopefully lots more to come in 2012!

  • Todd your a. legend mate ..simply,,

  • Simply incredible! Your mastery of flying, filming and editing is breathtaking!

  • You rock!! Awesome video!! You really pulled this off better than I dreamed in my trip. I have a new wing I am working on. Might try another trip out there.

  • What to say? Wonderful, congratulations! I'd love to see live ...

    Thumb up !

    :O

  • Sweeeeet!!

  • Great work man! Awesome video and location. Loved how you were threading the needle through that rock formation!!!

  • I did check my pulse. It was elevated. Great job. Really enjoyed it. If you could stabilize roll some it would be even better. Love the river too. You've done a really good job. Glad you didn't crash when you hit the rock in the opening scene. Keep it up. Post more.

  • Epic stuff!

  • so cool!

  • Fantastic video!

  • grand canyon?

  • Very Nice! What frequency are you using for video?

  • @rctestflight 2.4 Lawmate TX & RX

  • Superb flights, I will be watching this a few times as you cannot catch everything first time.

  • looks like someone has found the best fpv environment..

  • thats wonderful :O

    very nice!!!
