  • I LOVE HIM.

  • Almost as good as the Beatles! Which means they are amazing of course...

  • It's Dave, not Ray! :O Cool.

  • LOVE

  • I have been a fan of the Kinks since 1965 and I never get tired of their music. Ray and Dave need to get the Kinks on the road again.

  • @Augmuse Well as Dave thinks Ray an "arse hole" I do not think it will happen

  • Whoa he is seriously sexy!! Sideburns and all... :D

  • what a fine piece of music, without electronic beats, singing, not rapping, playing a guitar, not a computer!

    thanks, kinks and dave+ray davies!

  • Yes the best band ever.... best poets too.

  • Classic for sure but the backing piano and drums are a bit naff

  • Keith? George? Pete? When asked who the greatest (albeit perhaps not the 'cleanest' sounding) guitarist of the british invasion, my answer always remains true : Dave motherfucking Davies.

  • you know what youve done

  • it's very difficult to masturbate to this.

  • @eddybullet you guys are everywhere

  • the mind boggles to think that 34 people disliked such a classic song..?

  • I'm going to learn the chords to this and make it the third song I learn on guitar, THIS kinda music makes persevering with the guitar worthwhile methinks (MeKinks) hem hem.

  • I'm 14 yet I'm obsessed with Dave Davies<3

  • People keep saying they were born in the wrong generation, but whats so bad about this generation? Sure - not that many great musicians around anymore, that doesn't mean you have to listen to it. I was introduced to most bands I love from the 60s and 70s by my dad. And the fact I didn't grow up in the those times gives me a greater appreciation for real musicians. At least in this day and age we have stuff like the internet so people like myself can enjoy music.

  • i read this song was rarely played live because ray wouldn't allow it.

  • I'm 13 and I Love This Song!! :)

  • @Beatlemaniacaa1 I'm 22 and you are annoying. Pipe down so I hear the song kid!

  • @89iron636 You know? I hear real music. I don't hear shit like Justin Bieber and others. It affects you too that I heard "The Kinks" or real music? not affected at all, that affects your family and does not affect anything

Since you are a man of 22 years to think like a mature man, Leave me alone and find a life

  • @Beatlemaniacaa1 I'm sick of little shits like you saying your age and what you listen to nobody cares Jr.

speak to me when your balls drop and don't forget its almost Monday time for school!

  • @89iron636 the truth, I'm on vacation. You know, for your age you're an immature little boy fights for 5 years. I'm not the only, do not get up with me. and hey do not you work? at your age you should be more mature, you know how you behave, not even surprise me that you lived with your mother, but hey, do not come here to waste my time with bitter assholes who have no life, I come to listen to Dave :)

  • I am proud at the tender age of 21 to still get excited by The Kinks! Every new song I hear in their back-catalogue still fills me with the same sort of anticipation that many of their original fans must of felt upon their original release, but their music is still communicating all the wit, the humour, the sensory experience, The Englishness, absurdity and humanity that it ever did, and I am so proud to be a part of a new generation of Kinks fans who feel indebted to their musical talent. :)

  • My dad loves the Kinks, but i've really only just discovered them. HUGHLEY talented, love this song, in fact I think I love Dave,, hell, no matter how old he maybe now, darn it, I was born in the wrong era..lol. He is very talented and gorgeous with a capital G, how does he remain so cheerful when singin a sad song...

  • i like everything about this

  • Ray and Dave were both majorly talented (still are) gosh Dave played the guitar

well (and I mean well) ....Ray was a brilliant lyricist (known fact) and BOTH WROTE FAB SONGS. My son

29 has listened to them for quite a number of years.................The Kinks - Days - '69 is a lovely song so is "Strangers" by Dave.

  • LOVE his voice, face, talent, oh hell no matter how old he is I'd love him :D

  • @Prtymngrl me too, on bbc4 he did a documentary about his life the other week and it was brilliant. it was called kinkdom come if you're interested in finding it out

  • @russianpostman I've heard about that. I also heard he had some health problems :( He's also into spiritual healing because of this and I think he wrote a book about it. He's an interesting person who never did seem to get enough attention in this band.

  • @Prtymngrl yes, i find the two brothers relationship interesting too. i read in the daily mail that when it was dave's 50th birthday he didn't have much money so Ray paid for a party. And Dave was just about to cut the cake when ray jumped on the table made a speech about how wonderful he was. Then he stamped on the cake.

  • @russianpostman Ray seems like an attention hog. Poor Davey.

  • @russianpostman Actually, the previous year Ray wrote a card to Dave simply saying "Why do I love you?"

I do have a bit of love-hate relationship with Ray - he wrote some brilliant songs, but he does seem to hog the limemight from Dave, who actually seems like a really nice guy...

  • @19stanley46 i like them both and i think as dave said they are just different people. I would say think Ray is a definate enigma. Dave talked about this unusual relationship in the brilliant documentary 'kinkdom come'. if you didnt see it i could certainly reccomend it. Perhaps it may still on the BBC I player.

  • @russianpostman I did it and, like you, thoroughly enjoyed it!

  • good, very good; spendid

Glad to see Dave Davies beaming in the spotlight

    Go, Underdog!

  • T.V. prog last night with various famous heavy metal types, and one mentioned that Dave's riff on "You Really Got Me" was the birth of heavy metal!! On the Kinks t.v. prog Dave mentioned his brother was an ******** but there was nothing that could be done and he could live with it ~ came across as a pretty spiritual guy. Was never allowed to sing this on stage without bro interrupting etc, always played "second fiddle".

  • @SuperNevile Yeah i agree Nevile,i always had more time for Dave than his brother,Ray Davis came over as a smug,over-bearing,domineering twat.Too have sibling rivalry is natural yes(and being a twin i know about this, lol),but too stifle you siblings talent just to promote your own, just isn't on!!

  • @IIDeCkArDII1 Problem if your bro is a songwriting genius but is fully aware that "he is difficult to work with". Good T.V. prog the other night on brothers in the same band. Dave Knopfler also came across as a pretty philosophical kinda guy. Suppose that's the only way to be when your brother strides the stage as a colossus. Cheers

  • I want this played at my funeral :)

  • Dave Davies just cannot ever get through a single bar of a song without breaking into a huge smile.

  • toso esy....

  • Great Bob dylan type vocal but BRITISH great song, still sounds good now.

  • 33 people need to die in clown make-up.

  • My favorite part of all of this song is that spooky ethereal la-la line.

  • Not twins, Raay was the 7th child after a string of sisters, Dave the last. They do look a lot alike at times, though

  • @katoklzmk just watched a tv prog about the kinks, there mum was one of 21 children!!!

  • Is Dave davies Ray's brother or something ?

  • @akatsuki202 i think they're twins

  • @akatsuki202 could be

  • @DogsofWarGaming I hate when people complain about it even though there's no comments around saying that and try to get thumbs up

  • Not as good as Page but better looking and much better lyrics.

  • Kinks;

    The pride of Muswell Hill.

  • Comment removed

  • THE BOOZE WILL GET YOU , SO SAD WHEN SOMEONE IS LIKE THAT , WHEN THEY LOSE , A PERSON THEY TRULY LOVED , AND THE PERSON KNOWS IT , SO SAD , and there good people realy funny , always makes you smile . sad so sad ....---

  • Why did I just find this song?! I should have heard this on the radio, OH YEAH, they NEVER play this on the radio... why is that?... this song is great.

  • @MrPage2004 Because the radio stations have become controlled by the agenda ridden media Jews!! Speak to any retired DJ!

  • @Reverendjim1 try to enjoy the music as it was meant to be heard, without attributing racist comments.

  • @jimmydees I have enjoyed "the music as it was meant to be heard", I have also spoken to a few (one very successful) DJ's from the 70's & 80's and they all sing the same song. They say that the present lack of good music is in no small part due to an "agenda by the media moguls". They say it started in the late 70's and accelerated in the mid 80's. They also claim that artificial demand for music that would not stand on it's own was generated from other media adherent to the same agenda...

  • @MrPage2004

yea is great but is very very old! so they maybe play this in some calssic rock 60's oriented radio...certanly not in fm stations who plays gaga and rihanna!

but then you can surely find it in amazon or itunes etc or ..in records shop! :) (there are still left ?)

  • oddly enough, seems jack white-esque

  • Not my generation but I love the Kinks!

  • love this song. dave makes me smile :) thanks for the upload.

  • la la la lets all drink to the death of a clown,,,fkin classic

  • ray davies from cloyne. sumun tell di we wont come home empt6y handed

  • ray davies from cloyne

  • In a crazy twist, I think The Kinks were banned from America in late 60's because they physically fought with a pervy midwest PR guy that turned out to be John Gacy, the killer clown. This song, off Something Else, is a great tune. Don't think Dave will ever reach Ray's accomplishments (could anyone?) but still, this is on my top 5 Kinks tunes. Heard it a million times and still look forward to the next million, thanks for posting

  • Have loved this band since growing up with its music in the late 60's and 70's.

  • I feel so lucky to have really JUST discovered the Kinks for myself. So much, I'm discovering, to find. Such a history and breadth of work with so much of it SO good. I am lucky. I know to many of you this is all a memory, but it is timeless, believe me.

  • @indiesixtynine Dig deeper. Excellence will follow.

  • @indiesixtynine You are lucky!

  • @indiesixtynine

    Waterloo Sunset

    This Time Tomorrow

    Strangers

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Three fine songs, if you don't know already.

  • @indiesixtynine check out "Shangri-La" by them if you haven't already, a very underrated song

  • @indiesixtynine The exact same thing happened to me when I was 14 :) The Kinks are truly amazing!

  • @indiesixtynine Amen!

  • thanks for the memorie

  • este si que es un temazo me recuerda cuando en los boliches de Alejandro korn bailamos en los 70 muy bueno a todos losque le guste el rock

  • Nice but, unexpected.

  • This will be my funeral song!

  • QUE HERMOSO TEMA POR DIOS

    SALUDOS DESDE ARGENTINA

  • Fantasy song it is great hit 1964 year. Evergreen forever!

  • @harmixful 1967.

  • he looks like trevor from wkuk!!

  • sentimeteel nummer maar wel mooi

  • Such a sweet song!

    Is this song Dave's original?

Let me know if anyone knowing.

  • @hk20jan1965 I do believe that both the Davies' brothers share the writing credits for this one, Ray's name is mentioned first, but Dave must have collaborated with him on this occasion, which is a bit of an exception as the bulk of kinks' songs are credited solely to Ray. But Dave's voice certainly adds something special to it, great to see him taking the lead for once! Check out 'Susannah's still alive' if you'd like to hear a kinks song that is solely credited to Dave! :)

  • @WannabeLyricist Thank you for your suggestion. and do appriciate to recommend a good site.

It was good song as well.

PS. I really surprised when I've known Pate was passed away...RIP.

  • P.S if you haven't listened to 'are you ready girl' i suggest you do.

  • ah don't you just love a brilliant dave davies kinks song?

  • It´s too much !

  • Chauuuu loco,... me enfermaaaasteee !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Was Dave ever matey with Long John Baldry?

  • Dave looks fantastically femme-butch in this clip. God save The Kinks...seriously.

  • ¡que rico tema!

  • Oh what memories ...came accross this quite by accident .... I loved Dave Davies and this song when I was a flower power teenager in the late 60's :) Sounds and looks just as good now as he did then , LOL ... not sure about the flared knee length coat though ;P

  • #88 greatest guitarist of all time

  • what kind of guitar is that???

  • @SgtPepper9537

I suspect it's a Fender King. Could be wrong of course. The headstock definitely looks like a Fender.

  • 29 people do NOT have taste!

  • great tribute to the late stan laurel, kinks forever!!!

  • 'the old fortune tellar lies dead on the floor

nobody needs fortunes told any more'

My favourite lyrics of all time

  • Dave, you just make me sigh...........so beautiful, so sweet

hope all is well with you

  • I don't know why but I thought Dave Davies had died...glad he's still kicking though! I hope him and Ray perform together again sometime but no, they really don't like each other at times from what I know.

I've always liked Dave's contributions, like Mindless Child of Motherhood and this

  • Shit hot.................Dave

  • @TheWalrusOfLife oh you

  • Who doesn't like this song! I've been singing it for weeks now. Pick up the guitar and stretch my voice!

  • Wonderful track - way ahead of it's time - Dave is a very charismatic performer and very underrated ;)

  • clowns?! 666k views....lol i knew they were evil

  • Great stuff! These days we have C.G.I., then we had "trick photography".

  • ha love it!

  • @kipfan

I was quoting someone else that said that about Dave--I wanted to know why he said/thinks that

  • @MiddySquiddy

inane office work--though a little more apropros for me would be

The trainer of insects is crouched on her knees

Refusing their tricks no matter how loud her pleas

  • a great song of the sixties

  • I love Dave Davies and this brilliant song!

  • The records ok isn't it? Who gives a feck whether he gets on with his brother or not?

  • @MattHatter--

    can you please elucidate?

[...if there EVER was a prick in rock, Dave Davies would qualify ten-fold....]

I only know that Ray and Dave did not ever really get along...

and that I love their music.

  • @highroadnow Yea but its not Dave's fault. Ray is the prick! But this song is great!

  • Am i right in thinking that dave and ray davies dont get along now. does anyone know why. is it to do with royalties. such a shame. along with the rest of the kinks, they are all legends.

  • dave is great

and he has had a great influence

    do not criticise his imitators

  • nothings sad as the death of a clown.

  • hey who knows wut guitar dave davies is plyn???? please respond

  • @SgtPepper9537 its a Rick Turner. Same as lindsey buckingham plays.

  • "won't someone help me break up this crown?" is he talkin about whiskey or some circus crap I don't understand?

  • @Justen1980 "won't someone help me to break up this crowd"

  • legit meat

  • the kinks are awesome and jack white is too

  • jack who? :)

  • this is just fuckin awesome

  • I wish all comments that refer to other performers would stop getting thumbs up

  • did dave do anymore songs?

    cause this one is great

  • @LunarEcli

check out This Man Weeps Tonight, Strangers, Susannah's Still Alive, Love me Till the Sun Shines, What's in Store, Funny Face and next to this, his 2nd most popular song Living on a Thin Line from 1984

  • his vocals here remind a little of Dylan (NOT saying he means to, just that he does)

  • Comment removed

  • somebody here said she was embarrassed to admit she had a crush on Dave......WHY? He is ADORABLE

I have always had a crush on Ray, but the more I see/watch of Dave, the more adorable I think he is

  • the trainer of insects is crouched on his knees

and frantically looking for runaway flees............

sounds too much like my job

  • @raksana0 ...Haha what's your job?

  • @raksana0 Thanks - you've really made me laugh!

  • @raksana0 so what, you work at a daycare center? :P

  • Dave Davies, 20 years old

  • omg, let's drink to the deat hof the kinks! That Davies also was also a genius!

  • Great

  • thumbs up if you want to see that f***g spammer supersondessixties deleted

I love seeing all these great Kinks videos, but your goddam spam is in EVERY ONE of them

nous ne sommes pas ton ami

alors, ferme la fucking bouche et vas-y

  • @highroadnow Thumbs up!

  • @highroadnow agreed, although I'd have said "nous ne sommes pas vos amis, alors ferme ta gueule et vas te faire foutre"... vas-y pretty much translates to "go ahead"

  • who the hell would dislike this??

  • I wonder if that clown's name was Bozo, and he was destined to be a clown?

  • what a smile so handsome Dave ...... - yeah cinedores below with their comment what a mental case

you get lunatics all over the net ...

  • what a smile

  • darn Dave was so cute ha he was a brilliant songwriter and musician too

    his guitar playing was legendary

  • Seriously who is jack white anyway?

  • @zachwildsuxxx : being a huge fan of jack white, i would say something, but seeing as you based your name on the hatred of a guitarist no one cares about, i would say its not worth it. youve probably been in the hater game a long time

  • He's great!!

  • @tyhplas so eloquently put

  • @cinedores as long as it's accurate

  • @tyhplas who you talkin' to? 'Cause if that is directed to one of the band members, your brain needs fixing. :(

  • dig that fender acoustic

  • Yes that is correct

  • This song is dedicated to stan laurel the silent screen star of the 1910's / 1920's

  • @GEOFF23831 you mean stan from the laurel and hardy movies?

  • @GEOFF23831 is this true, or am i being led astray

  • cheers

  • I lova 60s stuff!

  • 25 peaple never seen a clown die

  • @CannaS88 wtf?! how i hate, that it`s possible to thumb up comments...

about a year ago most of the comments were more or less interesting and people wrote, what they really thought, now every second comment supports kids, that you shouldn`t support or doesn`t even make sense, like yours, but if you get some "thumbs" it`s ok...this is crazy

enjoy the videos and the music and don`t just worry what would be a popular! comment

  • I'm 15 years old and I'm having this played at my funeral

    Beatles

    Kinks

    Small Faces

    Oasis

    GREATEST BANDS EVER

  • @RobFinnMusic nobody cares how old you are, kid, you're not "spcial" for publicly stating you like some
