You're probably right, I don't know much about Neville Chamberlain, only that he though Hitler wasn't "foolish" enough to risk a war with Britain and France. Only too late did he realize Hitler had called his bluff and worse gave Hitler the impression the west was weak and afraid to go to war with his Germany.
Churchill was bold enough to continue the war after the disaster in France in 1940, when many British politicians though making peace with Germany was the "sane option".
When Hitler wanted the Sudetenland part of Czechoslovakia, Neville Chamberlain agreed because he foolishly thought Hitler would be content with that. The Czechs themselves had built several well armed fortresses along the border and had at the time one of Europe's best arms industries (which Hitler naturally wanted to utliize for his future conquests). Had Chamberlain said no to Hitler's demands, Hitler would be forced to invade the country using his 1938 army. That was risky.
The French could easily have knocked Hitler out in 1936 when he invaded the Rheinland and thus seized much of the industry he needed for his war machinery. In fact Hitler had told his army to do a full retreat if the French attacked. In 1936 the German army was nowhere near ready for war and was lightly armed. After the war Churchill told the French they missed a golden opportunity in 1936 to spare the world from the conflict.
France overestimated Germany's tank forces in 1939 (they counted way more than Germany actually had in 1939) and although they did a small offensive into Germany (Saar Offensive) and made rapid progress, they soon withdrew back into France. After the war some French general said it was a huge mistake stopping the offensive there, because the German industrial area Ruhr was within reach. Stalin would thus never have attacked Poland (he did it when it became clear nobody helped Poland)
@HeiligesReich2 The best maxim concerning you: "Some CABRON who can't even grow a hitler moustache and doesn't even have one testicle, posing as Japanese......Learn how to straighten some bananas with your mouth
He was brought back to the Allied High Command to affect a breakout from the Beaches, but he failed! It was the Air Force that scored the lethal blow against the German tank units. Thusly, the assumption that he was jellous!
In the end what makes everyone forget Patton's all blunders and remember General Clark's is his speedy relieve of the troops inside of the Bulge and fact that the size of the US war industry made many--a--blunder forgiveable!
This is what the Germans say about the Battle of Normandy, 1944: they say that their air cover was nearly non--existence and that it was the Allied Air Force that defeated them!
not bene:
General Paton reported twice that he was bombed by friendlies; no one believed him; they assumed he was just being jellous! However, third time his troops got bombed, Polish General Maczek confirmed his story, and General Bradley did start to believe him.
Eevn tough, the commo was cut off, the Polish planes operating from Eastern Poland were able to provide some support to the Polish troops in the West. Without that minor, but significant support, without any air cover, the Polish troops fighting the Battle of Bzura (Kutno) were doomed!
The Battle of Bzura did proove that any mobility is good, even if achieved through the means of horse (mounted infnatry was used untill 1945 both by Soviets and Germans). It prooved that air cover is necessary!
The recording does not represent the Battle of Bzura (Kutno) that began with the Polish counterattack towards Strykow, and later continued with the counterattack towrads Lowicz.
It ended due to the Soviet attack SEP. 17, nearly all remaining Polish planes left for Romania SEP18. Only Warsaw chase group stayed
1st scene in the movie shows the events during the first two days of war; during the time some Polish probes did make it as far as into Germany; even some minor Polish counterattacks.
@krakowia88 Not really. I mean a division fight. I think a small patrol foot soldiers might of lose a battle but im saying like a huge army that are called divisions. The Polish din't had shit against them. I saw this in some articles and some people agree. There first major loss was on December of 1941.
@Leny1777 Well in the Battle of Mokra which Poland was victorious in. The Germans lost over 800 men and over 160 vehicles while the Polish lost only 200 men. There were 2 German Panzer divisions and 1 infantry division vs a Polish cavalry brigade and infantry division. I consider this much more than a small fire fight between a few patrol foot soldiers...
@krakowia88 Dude you confusing the old days as today. 800 men were not a loss back in the day. I mean huge divisions as in losing 2000 plus in a battle.
@Leny1777 Nazis and Bolsheviks used to laugh about Polish cavalry troops attacking tanks. Two things they neglected to mention - in only one battle did Polish cavalry deliberately engage tanks.
The other thing they neglect to mention is that the Poles, using anti-tank mines and petrol bombs, won the engagement.
Poland was invaded by the two largest socialist regimes at the time. They were outnumbered 10:1 by the National Socialists alone. It was a wonder they lasted as long as they did.
@DrCruel Against German and Soviet tanks Polish cavalary used Wz. 35 anti-tank rifle, anti tank cannon Bofors... and 7TP tanks, TKS tankeetes, Vickers tanks, Renault R-35 and Hotchkiss H-35 tanks...
@licicaviki They were also pretty effective, when they had anything close to parity. The Nazi plan depended on overwhelming force at key points, but the Poles even under these circumstances made a good account of themselves.
The final straw was when the Red Army invaded from the East, to aid their Nazi allies, a little over two weeks later. I think the Bolshevik argument was that they were protecting Ukrainians in Poland (a bit like Nazis arguing they were invading to protect Polish Jews).
@Leny1777 If your talking about 5 panzer divisions vs. a Polish battalion, after being bombarded for 12 hours, then yes, but if your talking about a battle in which Poles knew Germans were coming, then the Poles always won, that's a fact. If you look at certain battles (ones without tanks, airplanes etc.) you see the average Polish soldier was actually better then the German.
I judged the Poles by their enemies. And I found it was an almost unfailing truth that their enemies were the enemies of magnanimity and manhood. If a man loved slavery, if he loved usury, if he loved terrorism and all the trampled mire of materialistic politics, I have always found that he added to these affections the passion of a hatred of Poland. She could be judged in the light of that hatred; and the judgment has proved to be right."

Yeah, well said. I hate dumbasses [German and Polish aswell] who fight on youtube whoes country is better, braver, Poles insult Germans, Germans insult Poles, stereotypes etc. fuck this, we're in XXI , we need to know history, but don't need to live with history.
In my opinion You are totally right, history knowledge is paramount to avoid the cruelties resulting from some mistakes in the past. Most of the time it wasnt the people, most of the time it was politics and royal family biz. I am glad we are living in a system in which we the people can "control" the so called politicians. Democracy is the best way how nations are to be "ruled" to enhance freedom and peace
Indeed. But lots of people still live with stereotypes and history, this is so shit tbh. I have several German friends, and theyre nice, ganz nett :D, but in Germany and in Poland there are lot of shit people who still think Germans are killers, nazi and sensualless, and lot of Germans who think Poles are poor, dirty stealers... ofc - there is a percent of that kinda people who ruins public relations between nations. I don't dislike Germans - I do dislike ignorants and stereotypers PL&GER aswell
we have lots of fun when talking with each other. All of us dont want the old "enemy-thinking" again. As I said earlier the prejudices must stop cause they are all the Nazis (GER&PL) have to disturb the growing good relations between our two nations. Its due to Poland we were not overrunned by the muslimic hordes, they were the rescue for our free world. Its just a pitty the polish as a soveriegn Nation had to wait for so long for freedom and democracy.
I remember a German veteran commenting once aboard a Polish train in 1981 during the heyday of Poland's Solidarity movement that he was in an infantry unit attacked by Polish cavalry & infantry with fixed bayonets in 1939 & was so frightened by the Polish troopers' & soldiers' charge that he retreated, all the time hoping that, if he were to be wounded or killed, that it be by a Polish bullet & not a saber, lance, bayonet, or entrenching shovel used like a battle ax. Ferocity counts, too.
Yea, but France didnt want to... 10th Motorized Cavalry Brigade (BRIGADE) faced whole German XVIII Corp by almost 17 days. They destroyed in one day almost 50 enemy tanks. If not Soviets, we would won. Germans was planning to retreat.
actually it was a month and if truth be told the poles actually fought quite well considering their equipment, aircraft and military preparation. As for your obvious hatred for the poles and obcession with the fomer whermacht from the videos youve favorited that any argument u try to make is pure bs
Try being invaded by the two largest armies in the world at the time from two different fronts. Also considering no promised help came from France or Great Britain, the Poles fought bravely for 5 weeks. Poland was the only occupied country to never surrender. Not to mention how thousands of Poles went on to continue fighting forming the fourth largest armed contribution to the allies. So I would think before I mentioned Poland being born to lose. P.S. learn how to spell "lose"
Actually, it was 6 different fronts: from Germany, from the Baltic, from East Prussia, from Bohemia (already occupied by the Germans in 1938), from Slovakia by the Slovaks, & from the Soviet Union beginning 17.09.1939, not to mention from the air above. Any defense against overwhelming numbers & in a new era of warfare was doomed to eventual defeat. However, the Polish spirit inflicted very serious losses upon the Germans which crippled their ability to invade anyone else until spring 1940.
France was sooooo SOOO much powerfull and they fought couple of weeks, so don't say we are worse, read some books and objective sources and don't live in your damn german propagande,
Na miejscu Aliantów wybił bym wszystkich Niemców starszych niż 30 lat bo to oni głosowali na Furera i powinni ponieśc odpowiedzialnośc za rozpętanie wojny bo to uczynił naród niemiecki a Hitler dał im tylko broń do ręki . Zaś na miejscu Berlina urządził bym sobie poligon atomowy...
And you now France, Norway, Denmark, Nederland, sud for paece.... Poland newer!!! we not colapsed, Polish country newer surrended. We fight from 1IX39 til 8 V45!!
anyway, u germans are pussies, you're so afraid of Poles that ur pissing ur pants off, I've been in germany so I know what I'm talkin about. Your country is now occupied by turks and other nations and u will soon disappear. Just a matter of I think 50 years...
aegraehbe you're cunt! Nazi army was outnumbered and germans did not declared a war! They just opened fire from the fuckin ship! They could do this with any european country. NOTHING TO BE A PROUD OF MATE!
EIN FUHRER EIN FOLK ...!!!! fuckin sie germans rulez. reasumując nie nawidze niemców jak psów!
Russians intended to help Czechoslovakia but Poles refused to let them pass. Then Poles attacked Czechoslovakia as well.
Shame on you!

I do have friends in Poland as well,
we have lots of fun when talking with each other.
