In my humble opinion, if you were 15 years older, you would've gotten the gig. Not to say Mangini isn't a great musician. But I believe age played a role in DT's decision. They wanted someone within their generation so to speak. Anyways, you rock the socks off of spock!!!

Wow, i admire the fact that you use Benny Greb's signature Ride. You don't really see any Metal drummers using any kind of Greb's signature material just because they don't like the jazzy, vintage sound from it. Props to you, Peter, and great job on your audition!

what it's funny is MP isn't technical like this guys that auditioned but they seem to have a hard time playing portnoy's parts hehehehe!!! MP rules man!...they look like stiff to me!
Remember, being the drummer of a band like DT, is more than just playing their songs. You need to actually be able to write drum-patterns like portnoy does. Playing them alone isnt enough.
Well played though dude, only critique from one drummer to another is the stability in your hands, feels a bit wobbly here and there.
@AnthonySarrio peter is very great drummer and i love him but i dont think that he would have been the right man for this job. its not his music... listen to static impulse from james labrie, this is more what he is like.

The audition of DT completely disrespectness. DT members satisfied their egos due insult drummers. Especially, Aquiles Priester. He made a mistake, just a mistake, but the video seems like Aquiles is worst drummer all over the world. Anyway, Peter has been deserved to join this band.
@maarcnylmz I can assure you that DT didn't mean to "insult" any drummers. I have met them all multiple times and they the most humble, down to earth musicians I have ever met. They don't have an "ego", nor do they need one. They are all mature, grown men who have been playing music for the vast majority of their lives who have hundreds of thousands of fans. DT always likes to go the extra mile for their fans, and that is why they made the videos of the auditions public.
Dream Theater is just widely known for being one of the most talented bands all over the world. The documentary just proved that they have the might to make pretty much anyone look foolish, but it wasn't their intention. After all, DT themselves said over and over again, that those seven drummers ARE the world's greatest drummers. The fact that, say, Aquiles Priester seemed weak at the audition, it's just our perception, not what the band wanted to show.

I really get why the chose Manginil. Good drummer and a very nice personality. Aquilles shouldn't have been there.

speaking of interpretations, from the DT footage I had the impression Peter played it nearly 1:1, but this video shows he tweaked several parts.
Anyway nice of you to share this Peter, even dispite some inaccuracies and the barechestedness, many people would refrain from releasing such videos, but it definitely is cool footage :) and you played it very well.
@OnlyOneBite He's playing ghosts on the smaller snare to his left. Just filling in the gaps between the accents with 16ths exactly as he was doing on the bigger snare before.

Static Impulse är en riktigt frisk fläkt och håller en snuskigt hög musikalisk klass och att du blev handplockad till en audition med DT känns ganska självklar så här efteråt.

Awesome drumming!!! May I ask, how were the auditions like. I know this is kinda a weird question but how was it feel like seeing those other 6 drummers.? Was it cool like you guys are good friends and all or was everybody just staring at each other?
Missing portnoy? really? The guy is very good at best. But cmon, the minute after dream theater finished with the audition, he called petrucci and said that he is sorry and made a mistake. And yes... he wanted to come back. By that time, mangini (a professor at berkeley), already submitted his resignation. Missing portnoy? not so much.. the guys a douche for doing that in the first place and even more douche when he realizes that he made a mistake. DT FOR LIFE!
I dont blame MP. I despised his approach in sending his message and views of how DT SHOULD or SHOULD NOT do for now and the future. And when everything is done, he asked to come back. Thats childish.
@blekidud He tried to get back for the fans ;) And every band has a leader. If the others had disagreed with his decisions, than they would have said something. And for his defense: He didn't knew that they chose 11 days before his call his replacement. At this point he had the same knowledge we did. But if you look on Dream Theaters side you could judge them as 'childish', too but I think it's better to say it's their personal business not ours to judge the situation.

Even though he didn't get the job, his audition has brought him to more people's attention. He's a great player and he'll still benefit from that audition and the hard work he put into it despite not getting the job.

Skall jag vara ärlig så visste inte jag så mycket om dig innan din audition med DT och även om jag har hängt med sedan Majesty dagarna så har jag hoppat över JLB's soloprojekt...

Static Impulse är en riktigt frisk fläkt och håller en snuskigt hög musikalisk klass och att du blev handplockad till en audition med DT känns ganska självklar så här efteråt.
Riktigt kul att se att Sverige kan leverera lite supermusiker med både visioner samt den ödmjukhet du verkar ha!

Missing portnoy? really? The guy is very good at best. But cmon, the minute after dream theater finished with the audition, he called petrucci and said that he is sorry and made a mistake. And yes... he wanted to come back. By that time, mangini (a professor at berkeley), already submitted his resignation. Missing portnoy? not so much.. the guys a douche for doing that in the first place and even more douche when he realizes that he made a mistake. DT FOR LIFE!

@blekidud He tried to get back for the fans ;) And every band has a leader. If the others had disagreed with his decisions, than they would have said something. And for his defense: He didn't knew that they chose 11 days before his call his replacement. At this point he had the same knowledge we did. But if you look on Dream Theaters side you could judge them as 'childish', too but I think it's better to say it's their personal business not ours to judge the situation.
