Depends if you class the old G60/G40 engines as audi... How accurate is this film? Ive read other reviews saying its twin turbo, a la B5. Im not putting too big a bet on this vid, as he cant even pronounce Aluminium....

The old V8 was mediocre at best, lacked torque, lacked excitement, i have had 4 x twin turbo B5 S4's and 2 x B6 V8's along with a 2007 e92 335i BMW and the B6 is good, but far from great. Glad they did away with it.

I agree. I really do not know what the hell Audi was thinking by getting rid of the BEST ever created, naturally aspirated V8, from the last RS4. They may perhaps want to go down the Ferrari/Porcshe lines, by creating a 3L engine that puts out 350hp. I personally believe that S4 and RS4 sales will plummet, and that many RS4 enthusiast, like my self, will shift the focuse onto the new M3. RS4 was better thatn M3 and now, it is the other way around.

add to rudolphna54, since supercharger is driving by really the engine directly, so theres not lag from the the point u step on the gas and when the turbo creating boost from the exhaust gas, the supercharger give more instant response but will tend to create less boost compare to turbo chargers

They won't bring the twin-turbos back. I have an A6 twin-turbo 6-speed that's chipped and it gives V8 performance with V6 fuel consumption when cruising (but NOT when stepping on the "cash pedal"). But the turbos, plumbing, intercoolers, waste-gates, etc. cost TOO MUCH MONEY! Its technically brilliant, but its not profitable.

Not impressed. Apart from the rea diffuser, mirror caps and badging it looks like a S-line A4. I still say the best looking S4 was the B6. Don't get me wrong it looks great, but it just doesn't stand out from the A4.

I love it but it should have been turbo..the 335i from BMW will take it sells..i don't feel that its in the same league as the M3 compare 412 hp and 335hp..Audi needs to step their game up..(I am a proud audi lover)

well thats what the rs4 is gonna be for - to try and compete with the m3. but thats all it will do, just try. im sure the rs4 will look great, sound great, drive great but it wont match the bmw, no matter how close it comes.

Now I know. I've driven it. Audis used to drive like pigs thanks to there awd made for safety and not for fun. If you turned in hardly, it just fought you and put the nose back, and understeered.

Now this new version handles much like Mitsubishi EVO X(with a press of a button you can make it handle like old Audis tho), but it's cheaper, more powerful, more comfortable, more reliable and easier to live with every day. It's simply the way to go.

And I don't need that overpowered RS4 to have fun

I've driven this car as well.. And it's wonderful, but there are many previous Audi's that provided a 'just-as' thrilling experience. To say the AWD is restricting the car, like you suggest, is plainly absurd.. The Quattro system is the best in the business hands down, and there is plenty of 'fun' to be had with it..

The B6 Audi S4 was horrible. The B5 S4 will be a car remembered for decades.. As seen, Audi have returned to old roots, with the V6.

This S4 is great.

I don't know about B5 but the B6 sends all the power to the front wheels when you are at the limit and want to accelerate out of the corner. So does RS4, but they're both out of production now.

The new S4 has great engine placement and electronic differential that makes wonders.

I'm also considering the new BMW 335 Xdrive.

You know what? I would rather wait for the upcoming BMW 3-series. It's rumoured to be revolutionary.

S4 is on pair with the current 3-series in terms of handling. Even the base A4 quattro Avant pulled 0.93 on a skidpad with 2.0L engine in a review done by Motortrend.
