Good it saved him. In my book 22 mag is insufficient: were it doped (which is anesthetized) armed perpetrator, the outcome may be different: with minor wound and without feeling pain, he will continue offense and very possibly will do a lot of harm.
I had a 22 mag revolver(a real 22 magnum) at one time and believe me, the 22mag rounds only purpose in life is to defy gravity, bone and matter. If he got hit by one of these rounds he will have to seek medical attention and then soon be caught.
Much better outcome than hoping for the police to show up in time to make a chalk outline of you on the floor. And better than having to wait forever for them to not recover the money. And great that this guy set an example to criminals to go find something safer to do for money.
I wish it were more discussed in news (and opinion media) how such acts can serve to greatly REDUCE crime. Anybody who even HEARS about such events would end up having second thoughts about robbery. To me it seems virtually CERTAIN that such types of robbery attempts would go WAY DOWN if potential criminals felt there was a high probability they might get KILLED in the process.
This is local to me. I carry the same gun too. NAA .22 magnum (assuming that's what it was). Now what will be said by the people that say anything less than a 9mm with extra mags is not worth carrying. When the bad guy seen the victim was armed and shooting at him, he ran like the coward he is.
@jboritzki - yes, any gun is better than no gun. The owner was very alert, listened to his gut and was at the ready with his gun and drew very quickly. If the thief started to pull a gun, the owner sure beat him to it, and a loud bang and a sharp pain will make most scumbag #$%$#$%$#'s high tail it.
Had he not run, the owner would have had a few more rounds for him and a coffin at the ready.
well the 22 magnum is very devestating if it's fired from a 5+ inch barrel . Those little NAA' mini revolvers fling the bullets out at about the same speed as a 22lr from a rifle barrel. Hollow points probably wont deform much from the NAA's
Hood rats dont expect return fire, shocks them that someone actually can hit them too as usually they have gunfights and no one comes within feet of hitting each other. Good .22 mag ammo is no joke, I use it to explode prarie dogs.
A 22.Mag is a Good gun for Direct Face to Face Defense. It has Alot of Penetration and Hollow points are Very Effective. I've used a .22 Mag for Hunting everything from Rabbits to Deer (head shots granted).
The Thief is lucky this guy didn't aim for something more Vital but even a shot to the shoulder, this guy has to be in Some serious pain.
@ChromeGhost0219 The only advantage with the .22 is that even an older gentleman like the diner owner can shoot one well. However, if it was me, I would be aiming for the head, that's a proper .22 target.
way to go. she is pretty.

The right to carry should be national.

To gun control supporters:
Would you have rather had this restaurant owner robbed and or shot? Because that's what would have happened had your laws been in place.
Criminals by definition do not obey laws so what makes you think that they will obey a ban on guns?
Gun control laws only protect the criminal while endangering all law abiding citizens by stripping them of their right to protect themselves.
Your good intentions have the exact opposite affect.

You only can take so much. Awesome for the owner to defend his store. These pair of thugs will think twice before trying to rob another store.

Anyone who whines about a .22 caliber weapon being a weak round has never had one pointed at them.
Ralastar 1 year ago 6
The anti-gunners would prefer to see this man cashless or dead, then him be able to defend himself, and his property. Sad but true...

Its great that they didnt return fire because a .22 to the shoulder doesnt do much. even if its a .22 magnum. the least you should have is a 380
