I...have trouble with this. Not only is it hypocrite, as warner bros didn't really try anything 'new' either (4 of the same shows where running at the same time) but also...the SAME old heroine? Though you can compare irresponsible rebel-against-daddy Jasmine and Ariel, you can't compare them to Mulan (or Tiana). Disney tried quite a lot of new stuff such as Olivier & co and Mouse detective.

I sense so much ignorance, assumptions and illogical thinking.

Brilliant these guys are! Sure, brilliant! Even before it became so obvious (much like it is nowadys), the writers of Animaniacs could still figure out the development of Disney Corporation's low effort, money-grubbing method of using redundant plot formulas to create long-term franchises. I mean who could have seen that coming? So many people are even oblivious to it today. :/

I love animaniacs, and i agree with them, but i also love disney and i know it isn't just about similar characters, cuz they are different too, and the story is VERY different too...so seriously, u shud shut up. @loldude83 I agree, I'm pretty sure now after watching a few Anamaniacs clips that this show played a big role in how I became so cynical so early on. I don't mind it much though, I find it amusing and awesome that a show I loved as a kid, I can go back and watch now and enjoy it in a whole new way.

This song really inspired my own statement. Disney Animation really needed to break out of the Disney Princess Fairy Tale routine and come up with something more original and unique with characters that Tarantino experimented in "Pulp Fiction". I am okay with princesses but I think the non-princesses are much better characters than they are.

@Wingham64409 - I agree, the only princess who really broke from the fairy-tale mold was Tiana from 'Princess and the Frog'. And the non-Princess heroines (Esmeralda, Megara, Jane) are more likeable than the Princesses.

I'm one of the biggest Disney fans and I gotta say this sort of hits the nail on the head. Not in a bad way but it's really common that every princess starting with Ariel strives for an unattainable "more" in song. I mean still today Rapunzel is pretty much just like Ariel. Tiana's probably the first one who sought an attainable dream and worked all on her own to get it.

@Nightman221k yeah the other Disney girls of the 90s Esmerelda, Megara and Mulan werent looking for 'more'. Esmerelda wnats to stop discrimination against her people and against quasi. Mulan went to war for her dad and megara wanted freedom from being enslaved to hades. they were the better disney girls in my opinion

They KNEW what they wanted. or at least the gist of it.

Back in the 90s it was Disney's fault that many animated movies were musicals as animation studios were trying to "follow the leader" for some reason. Almost all non-Dinsey animated movies who tried to be Disney, failed, and those which were trying to be musicals ONLY for the sake of animated musicals being a popular thing for the 90s, failed also. The biggest offense is that Tom and Jerry, A MOVIE ABOUT A CAT AND A MOUSE DOING SLAPSTICKS, was a musical as well. And not particularly good one

Usually, you can tell a lot about the way a company views itself from the way it portrays other companies.

For example, in this video, WB is calling Disney a company that never tries to come up with new content because they know you will buy their videos anyway. Well, that logically means that WB views itself as a company that doesn't care about the money, and that all it wants is to make original shows just for your enjoyment.

@ztslovebird Actually those are Disney's NEW princesses, and the first four, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine and Pocahontas seem more or less the same characters. All are rebellious (despite having a decent life), do not want to be with a man they are initially bethrothed to (technically Ariel does not want any mermen), have adventures by wandering into the unknown, and all have animal sidekicks. Disney's old princesses Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora are different however and don't belong in this song
